8.95% Survival Journey : I am a lucky star / Chapter 31: Re-enter the Game:Village Carnival 6

Capítulo 31: Re-enter the Game:Village Carnival 6

Day 7 of the game.

The townspeople had lost their winter food supply due to the destruction of the rice fields, and the mayor issued a new directive.

All residents, regardless of age or gender, were required to go up the mountain to search for food and store it for the winter.

Fuguo Town was nestled in the mountains, with generations living there. They knew that stripping the mountain bare of resources in one go would lead to ecological depletion, but if they couldn't survive this winter, a resource-rich mountain wouldn't matter for the next year.

Players rushed up the mountain, leaving the town deserted. The only one left behind was Wen Nannan.

Day 8 of the game.

The wildlife on the mountain dwindled significantly. Large mammals had vanished.

Day 9 of the game.

The once vibrant mountain forest fell silent. The sounds of birds and the tracks of animals were gone. The area of grass between the mountain and the town had been trampled into a path by the townspeople and players, with countless footprints in the mud.

As they gathered more food, the players' tension relaxed. They weren't NPCs who lived there permanently, so they didn't have to worry about the mountain's ecosystem. They only needed to survive the next twenty days of the game.

Amid the noise, no one noticed two playful children whispering.

"There were still a few locusts flying yesterday, but they've all disappeared today."

"My mother said locusts are pests, so it's a good thing they're gone!"

"Yeah, there were a lot of locust carcasses at the town entrance, but they seem to be much fewer today."

...

From day 10 onward, the players went out less frequently. Occasionally, a few would gather and whisper to each other.

"What's the real challenge of this game? We're on day 10, and there are no clues."

"The game is called 'Village Carnival', but it's just a rundown town. What else could happen?"

The abundance of supplies in their dormitory gave Xu Fang the confidence to speak, but her words still carried a disdain for the Fuguo Town residents.

Li An frowned beside her. He couldn't believe this fool had survived the previous round. His dark expression flickered across his face before he returned to his usual warm smile.

"The game area is this small, and we have to stay here for twenty days. Let's not provoke the townspeople anymore."

Switching gears, Li An asked, "Do you have any leads on the missing players?"

His eyes flickered with suspicion. He believed the Space Item for this round was in that player's possession. He hadn't shown up all those days, so he must be collecting supplies.

Spatial Item... Li An's eyes gleamed with excitement.

"This person is too cautious. Maybe he is hiding among the NPCs..."

Xu Fang snorted and was about to speak when a scream came from the town entrance.

They exchanged glances and ran toward the sound.

...

The locust carcasses were gone.

The children were the first to notice. Initially, they only felt that there were fewer locust carcasses at the town entrance, but didn't think much of it.

Today, the mountain of insect shells suddenly vanished without a trace.

The townspeople were baffled and confused, but the players were the first to sense something amiss.

This ridiculous survival game had sharpened their instincts for danger. It was day 10, and the game wouldn't do anything pointless at that juncture.

Silence enveloped them.

Then, a faint, humming sound arose from the distance.

It was so soft that one could doubt if it was real.

But quickly, the faint buzzing grew closer and clearer, and everyone's faces turned pale.

They were all too familiar with this sound.

"There are so many locusts in the sky!"

A child pointed to a corner in the distance, his voice tinged with fear.

They looked in the direction indicated. Despite the clear sky, a large dark patch hung in the air, resembling a rain cloud before a storm.

But this "cloud" was steadily approaching Fuguo Town, covering the sunlight above their heads and casting a gloomy shadow on their surroundings.

"Didn't all the locusts die? How are there so many?"

Xu Fang roared in annoyance. She detested insects, but this game seemed to be drawn to them, and they couldn't be killed.

In the blink of an eye, the locusts reached the skies above Fuguo Town. The buildings and plants around them slowed their advance, but only slightly.

Wen Nannan watched helplessly as a thatched hut was devoured in mere seconds, leaving nothing but dust behind.

Trees, weeds on the ground, even the stalks of soybeans used as fuel, were not spared.

Within minutes, the houses at the town entrance, along with their beds, stoves, and everything else, had been consumed.

Just like the ravaged rice fields, the locusts left nothing in their wake.
