Capítulo 245: Chapter 245

A thick black mist filled the surrounding area. Lockhart frowned slightly, controlling the blue fire beside him to engulf it.

Soon, all the black mist surrounding Lockhart and Kaecilius dissipated completely.

With a thought, Lockhart expanded the blue fire, spreading it across the floor. Before long, it burned, incinerating all the remaining black mist.

"Damn it, Lawrence ran away again," Kaecilius sighed, eyeing the hole in the far wall, eroded by dark energy.

"It's okay, Kaecilius. Now that we've tracked him, he won't be able to escape next time," Lockhart reassured him.

The corner of Lockhart's mouth curled up as he recalled the positioning device, no larger than a sesame seed, that Tony had gifted him. The Hand was his target, but now that Lawrence, a dark believer, was involved, there might be unexpected gains.

Kaecilius, hearing Lockhart's reassurance, felt some of his tension ease. Still, he stared off into the distance, lost in thought.

Boom!

Kaecilius tapped his stick on the ground, magic flowing through it, and red flame lines appeared along its surface. A ripple of red flame spread outward, quickly dissolving the spatial restrictions left by Lawrence.

Not long after, multiple rings of red flame appeared, and several New York Temple Sorcerers materialized.

"Master Jonas, please gather any remaining traces of Lawrence's aura. See if you can track him down," Kaecilius instructed.

"On it. I hope we can catch this bastard," Jonas muttered bitterly. His friend had been sacrificed by Lawrence, and if not for his quick thinking, he too would have met the same fate.

Jonas retrieved a reddish-brown disk, walking carefully around the area to collect the residual energy. After gathering the traces, he traced a finger over the disk, causing a complex rune pattern to emerge.

Lockhart noticed the runes constantly shifting, seemingly unable to lock onto a direction.

"Damn it! This bastard set up decoy auras in multiple places to confuse our detection," Jonas grumbled.

Kaecilius sighed at the setback, a tinge of regret in his voice. He had followed Lockhart's suggestion and refrained from bringing more Sorcerers for the ambush. Next time, he wouldn't hesitate—even if it risked exposure or collateral damage. He could make amends later.

After chatting briefly, Kaecilius and Lockhart prepared to part ways.

Lawrence, aside from his formidable strength, had an uncanny ability to preach and persuade. His words had a way of spreading like a virus—ignore him at your own risk, or suffer greater consequences later.

Hell's Kitchen, a run-down factory.

Black mist descended from the sky, falling to the ground and dissipating, revealing the figures of two men and one woman.

They quickly separated.

"Lawrence, what is Kamar-Taj? What have you gotten us into?" Alexandra demanded, retreating with the Black Sky.

Lawrence, still reeling from the earlier battle, glanced at the Black Sky with a hint of fear. After a moment, he spoke, his voice taunting: "I got unlucky this time. I didn't expect someone from Kamar-Taj to be after your Hand. If I were you, I'd leave New York while you still can. Otherwise, your lives are in serious danger."

Alexandra frowned, noting that Lawrence's aura had thinned considerably.

With a quick motion, she tapped Elektra on the shoulder and whispered, "Black Sky, capture him. Don't let him escape."

She stepped back, wanting to see how tough Lawrence really was after the beating he'd just taken.

Boom!

At her command, Elektra drew the sai from her waist and pointed them at Lawrence. A wave of intimidating energy surged toward him as a large amount of black mist formed behind Elektra, coalescing into the shape of a black panther.

The panther's eyes locked onto Lawrence.

The sai in Elektra's hands glowed with dark energy.

"Alexandra, I thought we were friends," Lawrence raised his hands in a gesture of surrender. "I warned you out of genuine concern. I've fought Kamar-Taj's Sorcerers many times. I know how they operate."

Lawrence was in no condition to fight. He had barely survived the sneak attack from Lockhart. If this fight continued, it would likely end with both sides badly injured, and his best option would be to flee.

"Black Sky!" Alexandra halted Elektra's advance and fixed Lawrence with a cold stare. She wanted to see what he would say next.

"Kamar-Taj's Sorcerers are just like me," Lawrence began, his voice smooth and persuasive. "They believe in gods too—only they follow the Vishanti, while I serve Dormammu."

Alexandra's lips curled into a sneer, but she allowed him to continue.

"For Kamar-Taj, anyone using the power of dark gods, like you or me, is an ideal sacrifice."

"Every time they offer someone like us to the Vishanti, they gain more power and favor from their gods," Lawrence continued. "That's exactly what Dormammu offers as well."

"So, once they've tracked down your Hand, my sincere advice is to lie low for a while. This is their home turf, New York is full of powerful Sorcerers who manipulate space and wield advanced magic. Their strength is not to be underestimated."

Alexandra listened, her face a mask of uncertainty.

Leaving New York was out of the question. The skeleton was here—how could they abandon it?

Yet, Lawrence's warning about Kamar-Taj echoed in her mind. If a few more Sorcerers like Lockhart showed up, they wouldn't stand a chance.

Her thoughts raced, but before she could respond, Lawrence added, "Alexandra, I know what your Hand is after. You're concerned about the dragon bone, right?"

He paused for dramatic effect.

"There's a powerful seal on it, but with my Lord's power, I can help you break that seal—for free."

Capítulo 246: Chapter 246

Kamar Taj, Evergreen Tea House

Evergreen Tea House, located in Kamar Taj, has only been established for less than a month, but it has already become popular within Kamar Taj.

The most important factor in its popularity is that one can contact a large number of alchemists and sorcerers through the teahouse, entrust them with the purchase of magic potions and items, and even receive discounts.

For most Kamar Taj Sorcerers, it is naturally the first choice.

Besides, it's quite pleasant to have tea at Kamar Taj without leaving the premises.

In Kamar Taj, most sorcerers have the habit of drinking tea.

This habit mainly comes from the Sorcerer Supreme. As the saying goes, what goes up will lead to results.

The Sorcerer Supreme likes to drink tea, so her apprentices gradually developed the habit of drinking tea.

For thousands of years, drinking tea has naturally become a custom shared by most Sorcerers.

At this moment, in a room of Evergreen Tea House, Master David gathered with a group of alchemists and potion masters to discuss important matters while drinking tea.

"David, how is the situation at Evergreen Tea House?" Master Sanji, a potion master, asked.

He felt that after the establishment of Evergreen Tea House, things suddenly became a lot more complicated, as if the leisurely times had never returned.

His workload has doubled or tripled.

After hearing Master Sanji's question, Master David took a sip of tea and said with a smile, "The teahouse has been doing very well recently, and there are a lot of people coming every day."

"Master Sanji, I believe you have gained a lot from the potion resources you have recently obtained."

Hearing this, Master Sanji showed a smile on his face.

Although his workload has doubled, the resources he has received have also doubled, which makes him slightly relieved.

However, that's not the focus of today's discussion.

"Master David, I contacted my friend as promised before. How is Vientiane Book Cafe now? Have you got what you mentioned before?"

Master Sanji asked with a rather eager tone, which instantly cheered up the three Sorcerers beside him. This question was a problem they all shared.

Seeing that the four people were paying attention to him, Master David said in a somewhat encouraging tone, "Masters, please rest assured that our strategy is very effective."

"After our Evergreen Tea House opened, there were far fewer Masters going to Vientiane Book Cafe. This is a joint effort of all of us."

As an alchemist master, David has already greeted dozens of friends.

Not to mention other potion masters, alchemists, magic plant cultivators, etc.

Although their number is not too large, their influence is not weak, and covering most of Kamar Taj is not a problem.

It is more than enough to deal with Vientiane Book Cafe, which has just opened less than two months ago.

"The current Vientiane Book Cafe is said to have been temporarily closed. It is said that it is undergoing renovation, but it is just a desperate struggle."

Having said this, Master David drank all the tea in his cup and poured himself another.

He raised it to everyone and said as if to celebrate, "Don't worry, you will definitely get what you want. Kamar Taj does not rely solely on fighting and killing but also deals with worldly ethics. As long as Master Lockhart wants to live in Kamar Taj, he will eventually cooperate with us willingly. Otherwise, Master Lockhart will experience the difficulty of staying."

Hearing this, all the Sorcerers smiled, raised their teacups, touched them lightly, and then drank slowly.

The group had two main reasons for targeting the newly joined Master Lockhart.

First, it was because Master Lockhart was causing quite a stir.

Just after joining Kamar Taj, a large number of magic potions were sold, of various types, which made the entire magic potion market somewhat disordered.

Later, the Vientiane Book Cafe opened, providing a private space, contract guarantees, magic points, magic cards, etc.

This series of services was directly aimed at creating a trading place.

It can be said that Lockhart's actions not only directly affected their interests but also disrupted the originally stable order of Kamar Taj, making them feel very uneasy.

Therefore, they either wanted Master Lockhart to give up all his actions or to make him join them and follow their rules.

As long as he follows their rules, he will definitely have nothing less than what he deserves later.

They had heard that Kaecilius and Morin had gained a lot from their cooperation with Lockhart.

The second factor is also very critical.

It is the magic knowledge mastered by Master Lockhart. To be precise, it is the magic system and magic blood.

They naturally knew Lockhart's identity, although they were curious about which dimension he came from.

However, since it was the Sorcerer Supreme who made the decision, they couldn't say much.

After all, Kamar Taj has never seen anyone from another dimension in the past thousands of years, let alone those who join Kamar Taj.

What's more, the other party also has the approval of the Sorcerer Supreme.

However, they had studied the brand-new magic potions that Lockhart had brought out before and the new magic books that he had contributed to the library.

At first, they didn't pay much attention to what Lockhart had come up with. They were full of confidence in Kamar Taj's magic system.

They believed that the magic of other dimensional worlds had at most some reference value.

However, when they saw the specific content, they unexpectedly discovered that the magic knowledge held by the other party was very different from what they had.

In fact, based on their research, they could vaguely detect the different nature of the opponent's magic system, or the great potential behind it.

The opponent's magic system is more inclined to idealism, similar to the chaos magic that is famous in many other dimensions.

The reason why chaos magic is famous is that it breaks many common perceptions, allowing consciousness to completely override matter and go beyond ordinary imagination.

Resurrection of the dead, immortality, material transformation, reversal of time, etc., can all be easily achieved.

What's more, chaos magic is a recognized magical way to achieve the combat power of the dimensional demon.

In other words, it holds the possibility of reaching the realm of the Sorcerer Supreme.

This makes them jealous.

However, chaos magic relies too much on talent. People without talent will not achieve much and may even be unable to learn it.

And now, Lockhart actually possesses a power similar to chaos magic.

Although there is a long way to go with real chaos magic, the other party's world has already formed a complete magic system.

In other words, it is universal.

To be more precise, it allows everyone to practice it and lays the foundation for later switching to chaos magic.

When they knew this, they basically decided to obtain relevant magical knowledge from Lockhart no matter what.

To prevent the information from spreading, they even consciously loaned out all the relevant books contributed by Lockhart to prevent others from reading them.

As for the other party's promise to the Sorcerer Supreme, he would contribute some magic books every month for at least one year.

They do not believe that the other party will completely reveal all the knowledge.

What's more, the opponent's magic system obviously has certain requirements for bloodlines.

Although they were confident in weakening the bloodline requirements through other means, at first, it would be really troublesome if Lockhart didn't cooperate.

Therefore, they tried every means to get Lockhart to cooperate with them.

Suppressing his business is just a way, and making Lockhart obey is the ultimate goal.

Not only do they want Lockhart's money, but they also want Lockhart's allegiance.
