Capítulo 241: Chapter 241

Night, Hell's Kitchen, in an unfinished building.

At the entrance of the building, the street lights occasionally flickered on and off, adding a touch of eeriness to the already dim structure.

"Remy, do you know the lighting spell? Is the instructor behind you? Did you mess up this time?" Peter stood at the door, chattering away to Remy.

"Shut up, Peter," Vera, standing next to him, snapped. Peter immediately fell silent when he saw Vera's expression.

Vera was the captain, and the instructor had specifically emphasized that everyone must follow the captain's orders.

Of course, that wasn't because Vera was beautiful—well, not entirely.

Remy, standing beside them, saw Peter's reaction and smirked.

From their regular training together, Remy was familiar with Peter's chatty nature.

But there was no good way to stop him from talking. Remy had once tried to cast a Silencing Charm or a Tongue-Tying Curse on Peter, but Peter had skillfully avoided them.

With nothing else to do, Remy fought fire with fire and retaliated with more chatter. He wasn't one to sit back and take it.

They bantered constantly, but their relationship was solid. They were practically friends.

Remy was naturally pleased to see Peter like this today and had been ready to throw a few sarcastic comments his way.

But when he noticed Vera's gaze, he swallowed his words and said instead, "Peter, the fight is about to begin. Save your trash talk for when the battle starts."

"Trash talk? What trash talk?" Peter started, but stopped short when he saw Vera's serious expression. He glared at Remy, then covered his mouth with his hands, indicating he wouldn't speak again.

Vera sighed, looking at the two helplessly.

Peter's arrival seemed to have triggered something in Remy, making him even chattier than usual.

Finally, Vera said sternly: "Peter, Ian, Remy, the target has left for unknown reasons. The latest intel suggests there are several deaf-mute people inside, along with thugs guarding them. We need to follow the plan, eliminate the thugs as quickly as possible, and minimize the casualties of the deaf-mute workers. Got it?"

The three nodded in agreement.

Seeing this, Vera continued: "Peter, your perception and insight are strong, and your webs are handy. You're in charge of scouting and rescuing the deaf-mutes to prevent any harm from coming to them."

"Ian, you're responsible for..."

"Remy, you will..."

After Vera finished outlining her plan, the three agreed that there were no issues. They then split up and infiltrated the building according to the plan.

Peter looked at the dark building, placed his wrist against the wall, and shot a thin white spider thread upward. He jumped, using the momentum to scale the wall.

As he ascended, he searched the building.

The third floor—nothing.

The fourth, fifth, and sixth floors—nothing.

On the seventh floor, he found some activity, but it seemed to be centered around a restroom.

He climbed up to the ninth floor, where he sensed more people. After a moment's thought, Peter continued to climb and detected more on the tenth floor, as well as the eleventh and twelfth floors.

Satisfied with his findings, Peter re-entered the building through a side window. He carefully observed the surroundings, listening for any movement.

Once inside, Peter realized that the building had been artificially modified. Each step revealed a new wall, creating small rooms one after another.

As he inspected the area, Peter saw that each room held more than a dozen deaf-mute workers, handling white powder. A thug, armed with a gun, sat in every room, supervising the workers. Outside, more thugs patrolled the halls.

After assessing the situation, Peter found a safe corner and activated the golden dragon magic mark, relaying the information to the team.

Soon, Vera responded through the mark: "Peter, are you sure there are thugs on the 9th through 14th floors, plus the 5th floor? Nowhere else?"

"And, aside from the ninth floor, are the other floors set up similarly? How many targets are there in total? How many deaf-mute people are imprisoned?"

Peter winced at the barrage of questions. He hadn't been as thorough as he should have been, thinking he could relay the information as he went.

He quietly retraced his steps to gather more details.

On the third floor, Vera sighed when she saw Peter's delayed response. She suspected that Peter had started reporting before finishing his sweep.

She sighed softly and felt a little tired. The instructor had been right—teammates who fumbled at critical moments were the most frustrating.

Fortunately, Peter hadn't yet crossed that line.

Still, she made a mental note to suggest training Peter more thoroughly in this area.

After a while, Peter sent back more complete information. Vera quickly analyzed it. The setup was ideal for their group of wizards.

With proper control, each room could form a closed space, making it difficult to detect them.

With this in mind, Vera began assigning tasks to Ian, Remy, and Peter via the magic mark.

Upon receiving the instructions, Ian and Remy moved toward the ninth floor.

Tracking Peter's location through the mark, Ian and Remy spotted three patrolling thugs. They raised their wands and cast their spells.

"Silencio!"

"Stupefy!"

In an instant, the patrol was hit with silent spells and Stunners.

Before the unconscious thugs could hit the ground, Peter, clinging to the wall, shot webs to catch them and lower them gently, without a sound.

Ian and Remy carefully entered the nearest room and attacked the supervising thug inside.

A silent spell, followed by a Stunner, swiftly took him down.

They also cast calming spells on the deaf-mutes, ensuring they stayed composed.

Meanwhile, Peter heightened his senses, making sure no one was approaching from above or had noticed anything out of place.

Perhaps because there had been no prior incidents, the thugs weren't particularly alert.

Ian and Remy worked quickly, taking down the thugs on the floor with ease.

They instructed the deaf-mutes to remain in their rooms and not to move, while they dragged the unconscious thugs into a pile to deal with later.

Vera, seeing this unfold, nodded in satisfaction. Her plan was working perfectly, without a hitch.

Next, they had to deal with the thugs on the fourth floor.

She called Peter, instructing him to head to the tenth floor for surveillance.

The team repeated their tactic, eliminating the thugs on the remaining floors without much trouble.

However, what they didn't realize was that a black mist had appeared outside the building at some point, quietly observing their every move.
