Well, that was a let down.
We had been watching the fight from the balcony when I had first noticed it. The foundations were groaning under the pressure of the battle. The funny thing was that the battle didn't even warrant this kind of reaction.
"Hey, how old did you say this arena was?" I asked Buena Festa curiously.
"I don't know," Buena shrugged, "When I found this location, all I did was freshen up the place to make it look more presentable."
"So you never double checked the structures of the arena?" I asked again.
"Nope, why? Is there something wrong?" Buena asked curiously.
"Maybe?"
"That doesn't sound so reassuring, Boris," Stussy said as she gently patted the bandaged Pato.
Stussy had made a personal appearance in the Arena just for the Racoon Dog. Soon after she disappeared for a bit and when she came back to the room, she was holding the unconscious Pato while maintaining her sweet smile.
I could still hear the bottom of the arena groan and tremble bit by bit as the fight kept going on.
Taking a drag out of my cigarette, I looked at the battle happening between Carla and Bubble Jack. Bubble Jack had slammed Carla through the Arena's wall, and he didn't stop punching her, which as a result kept digging her deeper and deeper within the walls of the arena.
"It's about time we leave now," I said, slowly getting out of my chair.
"Is something wrong?" Stussy asked concerned.
"The arena's going to collapse, I wanna watch the show from a safe distance," I replied, walking out of the room.
"Wait! What do you mean by that?!" Buena quickly followed me while asking.
"It's just as I said, this place is about to fall apart," I repeated.
"How?! The arena's condition looked fine when we got here, just outdated!" Buena replied, almost annoyed.
"I've been hearing the ground creak and groan ever since the Bonus round began. It wouldn't be too surprising to find out that the foundations were about ready to break apart."
Immediately after I said that, the floor beneath us immediately began to tremble as I started seeing rubble fall from the ceiling.
"See?"
I walked towards a nearby window before jumping out of it. Stussy landed right next to me before she handed me the still unconscious Pato before she disappeared back into the collapsing arena.
Buena was still within the falling arena. I thought that he had managed to get out with me at first, but it was clear that he had other priorities to worry about.
The Moon shone through the night sky as I observed the gradual collapse of the Arena. Multiple amounts of people had somehow managed to leave just before the arena came tumbling down, but I could still sense that other's were still trapped in there. Not that it mattered at all to begin with.
Eventually, Stussy appeared next to me holding the body of Carla, who was in a rather dire state. Blood quietly flowed out of her head, and there were numerous injuries that had been riddled across her body as a result of the fight.
"I like her, I want her to join our crew," Stussy stated.
"We can figure it out tomorrow, it's late right now."
"I'm gonna go look for a hospital to put these two in, where are you going?" Stussy asked.
"To bed."
Stussy already had her own key to the inn, so I didn't need to worry about her getting herself locked out. As for the others, well, they looked fine according to my Observation Haki.
I could at least tell that the crew was still alive and kicking, so that wasn't something that I was worrying about too much.
..
The next morning finally arrived, and it was clearly time for us to leave.
I was woken up by riots and protests that led up to the tower where Buena and his organization had been staying at. It was clear that they had wanted their refund after what had happened last night.
Opening the window, I saw countless pirates brandishing weapons while heading towards the tower. Their expressions were filled with nothing but rage as they all stormed their.
Buena was in for a lot of trouble.
It was then that my Transponder snail rung near my bedside. Picking it up, I was surprised to hear Stussy's voice on the other end of the line.
"Boris, are you still in bed?" Stussy asked.
"Not really, I had just got up," I replied.
"That's great, we're ready to head out, but we ran into a problem."
"What kind of problem?"
"The kind that started yesterday, and hasn't been settled?" Stussy replied questionably.
"I'm on my way."
I threw on my coat and started making my way back to the ship. I didn't bother passing by the tower because Buena was gonna be busy for a while trying to appease those mobs. Heading out seemed to be the right choice to do at this point of time.
Reaching the ship, I was surprised to find that there had also been a minor skirmish on the ship.
The crewmates, along with Ken, had all their weapons drawn out and pointed at Mont. Fiore and Bubble Jack. Carla was idly standing next to Stussy, who seemed to be enjoying a cup of tea.
I leaped onto the deck of the ship, and landed right in the between the two groups.
"Wanna tell me what the fuck's going on?" I asked to nobody in particular.
"Commander, they landed on our ship and won't leave. They keep saying that they want to talk to you about something!" Ken reported, almost sounding like a snitch.
"Well, I'm here. What do you want to talk about so badly?" I looked at the duo.
"We want to join the crew," Bubble Jack responded.
"The wager fell apart the moment the Arena collapsed. Why should I?"
"You need all the help you can get, that's why," Bubble Jack replied.
I raised my eyebrows slightly before walking towards a nearby barrel. I wanted to sit down so I could listen to what these two had to say.
"I think you already know that you're crew is weak. Sure, they do have some manifestation of Haki, but it doesn't compare to what we have to offer." Bubble Jack explained.
"This bastar-"
"Let him finish, Ken," I interrupted.
"Besides, you're right hand man could barely keep up with Mont. Fiore. Adding me in the mix would have resulted in his loss at the end," Bubble Jack pointed out.
"He does have a point~" Stussy added.
"Think about it, with our already notorious reputation out there in the sea, it only get's amplified when we join you guys!" Bubble Jack summarized his offer.
I slowly turned my gaze to Mont. Fiore, who had been standing idly while listening to Bubble Jack talk.
"What's in it for you?"
"I merely want to explore the New World," Mont. Fiore replied.
"You can easily do that without our help," I replied calmly.
"Having your help will make things even more easier," Mont. Fiore rebutted, "Besides, it's not everyday that you get an opportunity to join one of the World's Strongest."
"Fair point, I guess," I replied.
Having them all join the crew would most definitely make what I have to do a lot more easier. I could be sleeping in while they handle things on their own. However, what they were offering was already something that the crew had been doing before hand. Sure, they had a lot to improve on, but they were getting there regardless.
After thinking about it for a bit, I made a conclusion.
"Set sail for where Whitebeard is, he'll have the final say."
Let me know what y'all think!!!
Love y'all!!!!
