Stussy waited patiently for the man to catch his breath.
He coughed for a bit before he began to defend himself.
"Look, we'll step in if things get too spicy. Let's just wait and see! I'm sorry for not asking you for permission before I did this, but there wasn't much time!"
"Half" Stussy muttered.
Festa looked at Stussy with a confused expression.
"Give us half of the earnings that you made from all of this, and I'll let it slide," Stussy demanded.
"Shouldn't your captain be the one making those demands?" Festa asked carefully.
He was immediately raised back up by the neck as Stussy's eyes bore deep into Festa's.
"That isn't for you to worry about, now is it?" Stussy asked coldly.
"Quarter!" Festa choked, "I'll give you quarter of what we earned!"
"You have the audacity to negotiate in front of us? I guess nobody is leaving this island alive..." Stussy began as she began to look at the other horrified employees that were in the room.
"Half! Okay, you win. I'll give you half of the profits, but I won't be stepping in when the racoon dog gets in trouble!" Festa said.
Stussy immediately dropped him to the ground before beginning to check on her nails.
"Pato is going to be just fine, there isn't anyone within the tournament who seems to be a fatal threat for Pato. Besides, Pato also needs to learn what happen what happens if you're not strong enough to handle kidnappers," Stussy concluded, "What do you think, Boris?"
"I don't really care, I'm on vacation."
"S-see? Your Division Commander doesn't even care about this. So why are yo-?"
Stussy grabbed Festa's throat again before squeezing.
"Don't push it."
After letting go of him for a third time, we grabbed a seat on the balcony so that we could have a good view of the tournament. The four contestants: Mont. Fiore, Bubble Jack, Ken and Pato. All looked at us with mixed reactions.
Mont. Fiore looked at us with a cautious, yet passive expression. Meanwhile Bubble Jack looked at us with eyes full of battle spirit, almost as if he was going to attack us right then and there.
Meanwhile Ken and Pato looked at me nervously, but looked at Stussy with horrified expressions. There was no doubt that Stussy was going to be on their asses when we got back to the ship.
The rest of the Division Command was no where to be seen, almost sparking my curiosity, but I decided to push those thoughts aside. If they had left the island earlier, I would have noticed long ago, after all, my Observation Haki was still around the island from yesterday.
I could clearly sense their presence nearby, but what they were up to was a mystery to me.
Soon, the fifty contestants immediately emerged from the walls of the arena. They were supposed to go all out until only ten contestants remained.
"Drinks?" An attendant immediately appeared beside us.
"I want your best wine, but get him your strongest liquor, and a lighter too." Stussy immediately instructed.
The attendant immediately disappeared the same way she had appeared.
"For someone who worries more about the division more than I do. You've been more passive ever since we got here," Stussy huffed as she laid her back on the table.
"How many times do I have to say I'm on vacation? What y'all do here is strictly your business. I'm not going to interfere unless things get too crazy for y'all to handle."
"How's that bastard Whitebeard been doing these days? He hasn't moved much since the battle you had with Big Mom," Festa immediately interrupted and asked.
"Not much," Stussy abruptly replied.
"Shit, I should've gotten a newspaper had I known things would've gotten so boring."
"No worries! I'll get one right away!" Another attendant immediately said as she disappeared to get a newspaper.
Meanwhile, the other attendant immediately appeared right beside us with our requested beverages. Stussy took the wine bottle and glass and placed it on the table beside her before she grabbed my liquor gourd and sake cup and placing it right beside me.
She even grabbed a lighter from the tray and handed it to me. She was beginning to look more and more like a wife every time we had these interactions.
The battle lasted for about an hour, for the most part, nobody seemed to have gotten my attention while they had battled. Maybe except for a girl who happened to have joined the tournament, she had been holding her own for quite a bit.
Her overall combat had much to desire, but there was no doubt that she had the potential to become a problem in the future.
Even Stussy appreciated her combat abilities.
"She isn't too bad now is she? What's her name?" Stussy asked.
"Her name is Carla, there isn't much known about her except for the fact that she's from East Blue. She came here via raiding a pirate ship and threatening them to take her here. I was quite amazed when I heard about this," Festa remarked thoughtfully.
"She isn't affiliated to any pirates?" Stussy asked curiously.
"Never claimed any pirate group. I didn't even have the time to get her MO before I had to start the tournament.
"Let's see how far she'll go.." Stussy said curiously.
I lit my cigarette as I watched a particularly large individual rushed at Carla. Carla immediately turned and avoided the straight punch that the man had thrown at her. Landing on the man's arm, she ran up before delivering a kick right on the man's jaw, immediately knocking the man unconscious as he fell to the ground.
She didn't even have time to land on the ground as a couple of more pirates immediately rushed at her. She handled it very uniformly and managed to knock all of them unconscious.
Soon, she was among the last ten people who remained standing at the end of the first contest.
The crowd roared as they all got a good look at the final ten contestants. The ten contestants stood proudly as they received all the cheers and praises.
"NOW!!!!" Festa's voice immediately boomed throughout the arena.
"It's time for the second Contest!!!" The crowd immediately cheered as they waited for the next contest to begin.
The contestants were given a half hour brake to regain their bearings, and they were also accommodated with everything that they would need in order to restore their lost stamina.
"There's no way that they're going to make a full recovery in thirty minutes, so what are you planning?" Stussy asked Festa curiously.
Festa lit a cigar before blowing out some smoke.
"We teamed up with a certain scientist to create a potion that would replenish stamina. We made a deal with the scientist that we would split the earnings right in half. So you can also think of this as a promotion of sorts!" Festa declared proudly.
One thing that I had to admit about Buena Festa, it was that he was a man about his money.
Each move that he had made was intricately designed to generate as much profit as possible. Literally nobody was safe from this man's schemes, and he would immediately jump at an opportunity if he deemed the conditions safe.
"Interesting," I said before lighting my own cigarette.
Let me know what y'all think!!!
Love y'all!!!!!
