"Shit"
I had forgotten an annoying aspect of obtaining Devil Fruits: They normally would appear an hour later in some random fruit. Moreover, it would appear at a random location somewhere else, meaning that there was no gurantee that I wouldn't be able to find it within Skypiea. There were almost infinite possibilities as to where the Devil Fruit would exactly show up, and it was going to take a lot of time and resources to get a possible location.
"Making my entire expedition here an absolute fucking failure," I grumbled annoyed as I landed on the ship.
"Commander!" Ken cried as he ran over," I got worried how silent the battlefield was after a while. Are you okay?!"
"I share Ken's sentiments as well," Stussy replied worriedly.
"Not that I care much, but it would've been troublesome if we lost you! How else are we going to explain to Whitebeard, you bastard!" Pato added on with a loud humph.
"Don't worry about me, the last thing that I would let happen is get myself killed," I replied calmly as I lit another cigarette,"have the crew set sail back to Skypiea. We can now pack our things and leave."
Ken immediately obeyed and rushed over towards the navigators to give them my instructions. Pato immediately rushed inside the cabins after Stussy had told him about the whereabouts of certain snacks. Leaving me sitting on a barrel while looking at the vast white sea. It did no better easing my crampy mood.
"Something wrong?" Stussy asked curiously.
"Nothing much, just an unexpected variable, that's all."
"You'll find a way, it shouldn't be that hard now should it?"
"Don't jinx it, it'll get more hectic from here on out."
Stussy chuckled a bit before finding a barrel and placing it right next to me and sitting on it. She had always had a calm expression during times like this, I often found it therapeutic. Anyway, now wasn't the time to think about it.
"Well, it hasn't been that bad. Since we finally got the Devil's Wood, we have the majority of the materials needed for the new ship," I stated calmly.
"How long do you think it'll take?" Stussy inquired.
"It's up to Tom to decide," I responded, "When we get back to the blues, we'll have other things to worry about rather than worry about a ship."
"Are you talking about the War?" Stussy asked.
"Yup, I have a feeling that things are going to be spicing up in the near future. So be ready."
The ship continued sailing around the faint outline that was Skypiea, it wouldn't take another day or so until we got to where we needed to be. So for the most part, we relaxed and performed maintainance on our weapons. The navigators informed us when we had finally arrived on the beach of the island.
Slowly looking up, we could see all the Devil's Wood that we had gathered earlier. At first I had to admit that I was worried that someone might steal them while we were gone, but luckily it didn't seem like anyone had been here for the duration that we weren't here. The most probable factor was the fact that we were probably on an abandoned side of the island.
"Now that we're back here, how the hell are we gonna get the Devil's Wood back to Water 7?" Brok, the navigator, asked.
"Fundamentally, the White Sea does follow the same principles of the normal sea. So wouldn't it make sense for the Devil's Wood to float on water?" Kane asked thoughtfully.
"There's no need, I have a plan for that, but I'm going to need you guys to wait here and guard them for a bit. I gotta go somewhere," I instructed as I immediately used Soru to disappear and fly towards the small village that we were at before.
I landed in front of the main hut before quietly opening the door to find the old man snoring quietly while he was sitting on his little seat. I quietly nudged him awake, and managed to quiet him down as he woke up.
"What....what do you want from me?" The old man asked tiredly.
"I need your help with this," I said before showing him the dial that I had been keeping in my person.
"Oh~ a bubble dial! That sure takes me back!" The old man's expression brightened upon seeing the dial.
He grabbed it and promptly began scrutinizing it and looked at the center if the dials side.
"You see this part?" He pointed at it as he explained," You're going to need to push it when coating whatever your coating. Fundamentally, it should act like a resin that will protect the interior from the havoc of the sea. However, it is vulnerable to direct attacks, so be carefull."
He kept playing with the dial for a while longer before handing it back to me.
"Be careful while handling it, it doesn't look like it has much durability left within it," The old man advised.
I nodded before heading out. The sun was high in the sky as I stepped out, signifying that it was high noon at this point. I took one step forward before using Soru to disappear from the village and soar back to the shores of the island.
Soon enough, I was back on the beach, and I wasted no time beginning to coat the Devil's Wood with the bubble one by one. At first, the crew didn't seem to know what I was doing, but after seeing the results of the first tree, they immediately caught on and promptly began guiding the Devil's wood towards the ship so that they could tie it to the hull.
I couldn't afford to be too quick with the coating, so I ended up spending the entire afternoon and the morning after covering the entire batch that we had brought from the forest.
Eventually, we were back on the White Sea, but now a new problem arose.
"Um.....how are we going to get back to the blue sea?" Pato asked me curiously.
Pato was currently sitting beside me as he read a book that he had borrowed from Stussy. He still refused to be friendly with me, probably because I had killed his only friend. However, he had opened up a bit from the time that we had arrived here up till now. So he didn't mind asking these kinds of questions.
"Simple," I responded casually as I blew out smoke towards the sky, "We're going to fall off the edge."
Pato laughed as he heard what I had to say.
"What do you mean 'fall off the edge'? That's literally impossible!"
"Well; you're about to find out that the impossible, is indeed possible," Stussy remarked as she rubbed Pato's head affectionately.
"What do you mean by that?" Pato asked quizically, "there's no way you guys are about to look for the edge of the White Sea are you?"
Ken and the navigators immediately stoppped to look at him along with Stussy and the rest of the crew. I also decided to look at him amusingly as we all made a collective effort to tease the little one.
Pato didn't seem to take this well, he raised his hands and rested them on his head before rushing into the cabin while screaming.
"There all crazy! All of them!!!"
Let me know what y'all think!!!
Next week should be business as usual!!!
Love y'all!!!!
