Capítulo 3: Chapter 3: The Nature of Wands

With the money exchanged, the next crucial task for Eisen was to purchase a wand suitable for him. He couldn't help but criticize the idea that wizards in the Harry Potter world had to have wands to perform magic. For any wizard, a wand represented almost everything. Without a wand, a wizard would essentially be waiting for death.

Even powerful wizards like Dumbledore and Voldemort, who could perform non-verbal and wandless magic, were simply more capable. Otherwise, the wizarding world wouldn't have developed a sufficiently potent Disarming Charm.

Therefore, no matter what Eisen planned, a wand was a necessity. So, Eisen once again navigated through the bustling crowd. Along the way, he saw the Eeylops Owl Emporium, the Gambol and Japes Wizarding Joke Shop, and Flourish and Blotts bookstore. Additionally, there were the Quality Quidditch Supplies, Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions, and the Second-Hand Robe Shop, among others.

Eisen knew that everything around him was so novel, and each item had a captivating allure. However, he was aware of his current task and didn't linger to observe, instead heading straight towards Ollivanders Wand Shop.

Eisen had vivid memories of this wand shop from his previous life. It was likely the only thousand-year-old brand in the wizarding world, and young wizards like Harry Potter and Hermione Granger would choose this place to purchase their wands after enrollment.

However, if Eisen intended to buy a wand from Ollivanders, there was a possibility of a slight hiccup. This was the cause of his concern.

Earlier, when he entered Diagon Alley from the Leaky Cauldron, he could tell the pub owner that his wand was damaged while researching a spell. But to use the same excuse at Ollivanders would likely not work.

According to Eisen's memories from his previous life, the owner of Ollivanders, Mr. Garrick Ollivander, had an extraordinarily impressive memory. He could clearly remember the wands used by the fathers of young wizards when they were students.

However, Muggle-born wizards like Hermione didn't have this issue.

Since he was a "foreign" self-taught wizard who had lived abroad for a few years, it would be plausible for Eisen to come to London specifically to purchase a wand from the renowned wandmaker, Ollivander. With this thought in mind, Eisen felt prepared.

Regarding wands, however, Eisen had a curiosity about one aspect of their design in this world – whether or not they had the so-called Trace. In the original text, the Trace was intended for wizards under the age of seventeen. Whenever they performed magic, it would be detected.

However, if an underage wizard cast spells in the presence of an adult wizard, the Ministry of Magic could only detect that magic had been performed but not identify who had cast the spell.

Looking at this straightforward conclusion, it was clear that the Trace was not on the wand itself. Otherwise, why wouldn't an underage wizard be detected when casting spells in the presence of an adult wizard?

Therefore, in Eisen's view, the Trace was likely a ranged detection spell. However, this wasn't an issue for him since he was already eighteen years old.

...

It was a tiny, shabby shop with flaking paint on the door and a sign that read: "Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C." In the dusty window display, a single wand lay on a faded purple cushion, exuding an aura of mystery.

Upon entering, Eisen noticed that aside from a spindly chair, the shop was empty. Shelves lined the walls, crammed with thousands of narrow boxes. Clearly, they contained wands.

"Good afternoon!" Before Eisen could examine further, a figure suddenly appeared in front of him.

Taking a closer look, Eisen saw an elderly man with white hair and silvery eyes. Evidently, this was Mr. Garrick Ollivander, the shop's proprietor.

"Hello, Mr. Ollivander. My previous wand was damaged, and I'd like to purchase a new one," Eisen said with a polite smile, aiming to appear harmless.

"If I'm not mistaken, you haven't bought a wand from me before, have you?" the old man inquired, though his tone suggested he was quite certain of the fact.

"Oh, yes, Mr. Ollivander. You see, I've been living and researching in the Muggle world for a year, but recently, my wand became damaged due to resisting spellcasting. So I thought I'd purchase a fine wand from you, Mr. Ollivander," Eisen smoothly offered the explanation he had prepared, subtly flattering the wandmaker.

"I see!" Ollivander's expression showed understanding, and he continued proudly, "Of course, the wands sold at Ollivanders are all of the finest quality."

As he spoke, Ollivander pondered for a moment, then retrieved a box from the shelves and extracted a wand, handing it to Eisen. "Why don't you try this one? An excellent combination – maple and unicorn hair, twelve inches."

The scene before Eisen puzzled him; shouldn't Ollivander have measured his height and arm length? Nevertheless, he promptly accepted the wand with his right hand.

The moment he grasped the wand, a strange sense of comfort rippled through his body. The wand seemed to become a part of him, and even the slight hint of magic within him began to flow smoothly throughout his being. The sensation instantly filled Eisen with excitement.

"Oh, splendid! Excellent, it seems the wand has chosen you," Ollivander said, looking pleased.

Hiss—

Suddenly, Eisen inhaled sharply. Just as he was about to inquire about the price, a virtual display appeared before his eyes. His miraculous ability had unexpectedly activated.

In the virtual display, a pop-up window appeared in front of the character panel, displaying a message: "Discovered Extraordinary Trait – Excellent Spellcasting Ability. Consume one Miracle Trait to replicate?"

Below the message were "Yes" and "No" buttons.

In an instant, Eisen's mind raced with numerous thoughts, leaving him slightly overwhelmed. However, this was not the time for contemplation. "Well, Mr. Ollivander, how much for this wand?" Suppressing his extraneous thoughts, Eisen secured the wand and asked.

"Very well, that will be seven Galleons," Ollivander quoted a reasonable price. From his memories of his previous life, Eisen knew this was the standard price for a wand.

After paying, Eisen left Ollivanders. He still needed to purchase some essentials, but in his eagerness to ponder the new ability revealed by his miraculous power, he didn't linger to browse further.

First, he went to the Second-Hand Robe Shop and bought a second-hand robe. Then, he visited Flourish and Blotts, purchasing the entire "Beginner's Book of Spells" series. Of course, he also acquired "A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration," "Intermediate Transfiguration," "Advanced Transfiguration," "Magical Theory," and other books.

With these purchases, Eisen had around 150 Galleons remaining. On his first trip to Diagon Alley, he didn't bother buying cauldrons, scales, or other odd magical items – he had enough to ponder for now.

Back at the Leaky Cauldron, Eisen planned to stay for a while. He couldn't risk exposure in the Muggle world with his newly acquired items, especially since he didn't know any magic yet! Of course, if he could purchase a bag enchanted with an Undetectable Extension Charm, he could store everything inside and avoid such concerns. Unfortunately, he couldn't obtain one at the moment, and the Undetectable Extension Charm was currently beyond his abilities.
