Capítulo 69: Old army

"Sir, I am indeed interested, but I need to understand what good I can do, and exactly how powerful you are," Hitler asked solemnly.

"I have some military support! These troops are now loyal to President Hindenburg! But this old man is now favoring Akado! Hence, I have come to you once again," the old man spoke slowly, as if to emphasize his own strength.

Hitler was silent for a few seconds, then spoke again as the car swayed, "I'm sorry! I find it hard to believe what you're saying! In the past, too many have offered me worthless promises, so I need to see tangible proof before I can make a decision."

"I can introduce you to someone, so you will understand why I can amass such power, and what it will cost you," the old man suggested thoughtfully.

"Who?" Hitler asked, narrowing his eyes.

"Our Crown Prince William," the old man whispered, as if fearful of being overheard.

Hitler raised his eyebrows, then blurted out, "Prince William? He wants a restoration? Impossible! That was the downfall of Seekert! I do not wish to be the second Seekert!" Seekert had been at the height of his power but was utterly ruined after showing sympathy for the royal family. For a small Nazi party leader like himself, treading this path would surely lead to oblivion.

"We have learned from past mistakes and are no longer poised to challenge Germany's democratic forces!" the old man reassured, addressing Hitler's concerns. "This time, we will not err! We do not dream of returning to the heights of power in Germany. What we need is something else. Specifically, we are after money."

"How much are you talking about?" Hitler asked, frowning.

The old man snorted and replied proudly, "Mr. Hitler, we want everything! The arms of the Wehrmacht will be supplied by Crown Prince William, German butter, and bread will be produced by him, cars on the streets, houses along the roads, clothes on people... we aim to monopolize! We want the economy of the whole of Germany and the entire world."

"That's impossible! You can't possibly have enough money to merge so many companies," Hitler scoffed dismissively. "These sectors belong to various consortia and companies. How can you possibly control them all?"

"As long as you win, as long as you become the unique leader of this country! Then we have a chance!" the old man said with a smile. "This is also the main reason why I am seeking you out! Because now, only your Nazi Party can challenge the rule of the Great German Party."

"Do you mean...?" Hitler suddenly shivered and stared at the old man.

The old man saw Hitler's reaction and nodded with a sinister smile, "Exactly! If major businessmen like Krupp were dead! Then we could successfully take over these companies that are on the brink of collapse, and under your rule, they would have no power to resist."

"This plan is madness," Hitler shook his head.

"If it weren't mad, how could it yield such extraordinary results?" the old man chuckled.

"I take power, and you take money?" Hitler mulled over it, seeking confirmation.

"It's fair, isn't it?" the old man narrowed his eyes and chuckled, "So, this plan is called the 'Balance Plan.'"

"You've won me over! I agree to cooperate!" Hitler finally decided and nodded. "I want to meet with senior officers of the National Defense Force! Immediately!"

"No problem!" The old man was very satisfied with this cooperation. "I will arrange it right away!"

Hitler clenched his jaw, muttering in his heart, "Akado! This time I've united the power of France against you, and brought together the royal power and the old army—I want to see if you will be taken aback in the congressional elections! Hahahahaha!"

At that moment, Akado was unaware that a strategic alliance had been formed against the Great German Party. He was fully engaged in combating another enemy, the Allied Arms Control Committee. The Krupp plant had adopted assembly line processes to mass-produce the large-caliber artillery that Germany urgently needed according to the initial plan. In the past six months, the Germans had produced 500 150-mm caliber cannons and blatantly equipped them to the infantry division deployed on the Eastern Front. These cannons had replaced the 88-mm anti-aircraft guns disguised as howitzers, nearly doubling the German artillery capability. Many front-line German infantry divisions had even mothballed some artillery because they lacked sufficient personnel.

Moreover, more and more divisions of the German army were equipped with tanks. For instance, in addition to the 25th armored division and the 26th cavalry division of the traditional tank division, the 11th and 12th divisions of the National Defense Forces were also equipped with P-2 tanks. These tanks were used goods phased out from the previous two main tank divisions. Now, Guderian's 25th Armored Division had been completely upgraded with new Leopard tanks, codenamed P-4 tanks, which far exceeded the standards stipulated in the "New Versailles Peace Treaty." Consequently, the 25th Armored Division had become the undisputed strongest armored division in the world.

Of course, Rommel's 26th Cavalry Division was not to be underestimated. They were equipped with a large number of tanks. Although the P-3 tank was not as advanced as the P-4 tank, it excelled in proven technology, and the improved 75mm caliber assault gun had been recognized by the artillery force, with mass production being expedited. The No. 3 assault gun, as a distinctive weapon of the German artillery, was listed by the German side as "non-violation of the treaty" on the grounds that it was not prohibited by the treaty. By the time the coalition arms control committee returned to strictly halt production, more than 400 self-propelled artillery pieces had been produced and were distributed across various infantry and armored divisions in Germany.

After careful calculations, Akado found that his armored forces had begun to take shape. The National Defense Force now had nearly 695 P-2 tanks, 391 P-3 tanks, and 347 P-4 tanks—totaling more than 400 assault tanks. The number of his armored weapons neared 2,000, several times the number stipulated in the New Versailles Peace Treaty. Additionally, Germany was equipped with 2,900 motorcycles, 1,132 armored personnel carriers, over 1,700 off-road jeep vehicles, as well as 3,700 trucks and more than 270 special trailers. With these equipments, one out of every nine German soldiers could be vehicular. Coupled with the nearly 100,000 war horses held by Germany, the German Wehrmacht had become the world's most maneuverable force.

Counting the 70 fighters secretly equipped by the growing Air Force, Germany now boasted over 130 fighters and more than 40 transport aircraft (some aircraft were assembled from parts, while others were from the original civil aviation transport department). Although these aircraft did not bring any substantial changes in the force comparison to the Luftwaffe, they were able to train a batch of excellent pilots for the Luftwaffe.

Although the National Defense Forces had grown stronger over the past year, some of this newfound strength had been exposed to France and Britain during the Rhineland Crisis, which directly attracted the scrutiny of France and Britain. The most immediate consequence was that the French-led Allied Arms Control Commission oversaw the German Wehrmacht, or at least the Wehrmacht Army, more stringently than ever.

So although Akado was now committed to defeating the Nazis, he didn't have the energy to do it himself—he had to now accompany the arms control investigators from France and Belgium to various military bases in Germany to inspect those exceeding standard military facilities and "non-existent" weapons and equipment.

So in the afternoon of the same day, Akado had to go to the first division in the suburbs to accompany the investigators of the arms control committee to check the number of armored vehicles there. Early the next morning, Akado flew to Kiel military port again, because the investigators of the Belgian Arms Control Commission were informed that the German Wehrmacht had built an airport outside Kiel military port and trained pilots using fighter aircraft outside the establishment.

"Colonel Grudo," Akado said loudly on the plane to the Belgian soldiers who were sitting opposite him, "The charges against the National Defense Force are non-existent. Intelligence, but it turns out that the intelligence is wrong!"

"General Akado! You may not admit it, but you and I are very clear in your heart! The German Wehrmacht is playing with fire! You are trying to restore the military strength! And this military strength far exceeds the scale of your self-defense!" Grudo stared at Akado's face, hoping to see something on his face, but unfortunately, he didn't see anything—Smith didn't, so he couldn't.

"Colonel Grudeau! This is what you call a secret military airport?" Akado pointed to a short runway under the plane, and two three-wing civilian aircraft parked above: "This airport is at We have filings here and you there! This is a completely legal civil airport!"

"Yes! But this runway can take off military aircraft!" Grudeau sighed.

"And I can't check what's in the hangar here. General Akado, are you right?" Akado nodded with a smile: "You're right! But I really don't have time to accompany you to inspect these messy civilian facilities now! I'm going back to Berlin to prepare for the upcoming parliamentary elections."

Grudeau raised a smirk with his mouth, reached out and shook hands with Akado: "It's really embarrassing to delay you for so many days! General I will do the rest of the inspection alone! I wish you great Germany The party succeeded in the election!"

Akado nodded: "Thank you! Yes!"
