It took a moment for Caspian to realize that the kiss had ended, and that Nikolai had gotten to his feet leaving him on the chair.

He watched the Alpha with blurry vision, wondering what he was up to now.

"Send my regards to Asher," Nikolai bent low so that they were face to face, "And my offer is still open."

He watched the deranged Mafia King stride out, leaving the door unlocked. And it would be so easy for him to get up and leave but his body refused to listen to him.

His face was hot, lashes clumped together with tears, fading bruises in his skin where Nikolai had held him captive.

Caspian tried to reach for a glass of water to clear his head a bit so he could leave, but his hand-eye coordination was off which meant that all he managed to do was tip the glass over, shattering it and spilling water on the table.

What had been in the alcohol Nikolai had given him? It had only been a little bit…
