"I didn't stay here at my own will," Geena tried to convince Marissa but at this point no one was trustworthy, "Your husband wanted me to stay here! You can ask him."
"You know my husband's condition, Geena. Thank you for bringing him back to me. But I can't take risks. His life is in danger, and we didn't know who tried to kill him," she said with a shrug.
For a minute, she thought she saw pain flashing on her face but now Marissa didn't want to take risks.
She couldn't afford to lose anyone dear to her. Life rarely gave second chances, and she didn't want to gamble on it.
"Do you think if I was a criminal and the murderer, I would have brought him back?" Geena asked her but then she couldn't blame Marissa too.
"Fine!" she picked up her small leather bag and slung it on her shoulder, "Say hi to Rafael. Tell him that I left because my employer called me for a twenty-four-hour shift."
After she left, Marissa didn't know what to feel.
