Capítulo 25: CADET RAVAN, YOU ARE UNDER ARREST!

The blacksmith department was suddenly buzzing with activity.

Vehicles with government insignias and official seals pulled up outside the buildings, and investigators poured out, along with tower workers and dungeon operatives.

The atmosphere was tense as everyone knew the gravity of the investigation.

In every corner of the blacksmith department, investigators meticulously inspected every building, leaving no stone unturned.

Dorms, workshops, and classrooms were thoroughly checked.

The investigators moved systematically, their presence a stark reminder of the severity of the situation.

Inside the dorms, Lailah and Rina exchanged nervous glances.

They knew the stakes were high and that the Mana Cores they possessed could very well be the human ones the investigators were looking for

Their hearts pounded as they silently prayed that the inspectors wouldn't find them.

When the investigators entered the fire chambers, the tension reached its peak.

Lailah and Rina stood near Ravan, their anxiety palpable.

The investigators moved through the room, examining the furnaces, tools, and materials with expert precision.

Lailah's hands were clenched tightly together, her knuckles white.

Rina, trying to appear nonchalant, glanced at the inspectors occasionally, her mind racing.

They had hidden the Mana Cores well, but was it enough? The fear of being discovered gnawed at them.

One of the investigators paused near the area where the Mana Cores were concealed. He scrutinized the surroundings, his gaze lingering.

Lailah held her breath, feeling as if time had slowed to a crawl.

Ravan's face was a mask of calm, but inside, he was as tense as his friends. After what felt like an eternity, the investigator moved on.

Lailah exhaled slowly, relief flooding through her.

Rina's shoulders relaxed slightly, and she shot a quick, grateful glance at Ravan.

"Nothing out of the ordinary here," one of the investigators finally said, signaling to the others.

They nodded and began to leave the fire chambers, their search concluding without any alarming discoveries.

Once the investigators had exited, Lailah and Rina let out the breaths they had been holding.

The weight of the moment had been almost unbearable.

"That was close," Rina whispered, her voice trembling slightly.

Lailah nodded, still trying to calm her racing heart.

"Too close."

Just as Lailah and Rina were starting to feel a sense of relief that the investigators hadn't found the bag of Mana Cores, the fire chamber doors creaked open again.

Two imposing figures stepped forward, their presence instantly filling the room with an intense aura.

Ravan's breath caught in his throat as recognition dawned on him.

'No, No, No! Why here of all places,' Ravan muttered.

Standing before him were his younger siblings, Rhett and Ryker—the twin brothers he had grown up with before being chased out of the House of Zenith for being talentless.

Rhett and Ryker, both clad in the distinguished attire of Tower walkers, paused as they took in the scene.

Their eyes landed on Ravan, and slowly, recognition flickered in their gazes. With a sneer, Rhett was the first to speak.

"Well, well, well," Rhett drawled, a mocking smile spreading across his face.

"Look who we have here. So this is where the old man sent you."

Riker joined in, chuckling.

"Forging swords for the talented, huh? Seems fitting for someone with no talent."

'Bastards, they never miss an opportunity to make fun of me or get on my throat,'Ravan sneered inwardly.

Ravan, having grown accustomed to their taunts, brushed off their jabs with practiced indifference.

"What are you two doing here?"

Rhett and Ryker shared a glance, pride evident in their expressions.

"We're here on official business," Rhett said, puffing out his chest.

"B-rank Tower workers now, assigned to investigate this place. Though it's not as thrilling as hunting in dungeons, it's a good opportunity to gain influence and make some money."

Ryker nodded. "The old man says it's good for us to gain experience in different areas."

"Good for you," Ravan replied coolly.

"But I'm happy here, away from that house where no one seemed to care."

"Whatever blue eye, Just don't get in our way," Rhett said wafting his hand almost like shoo-ing Ravan away.

Ryker's gaze flickered around the room, and suddenly, he noticed a glimmer under a cabinet.

"What the hell is that shining over there?" he asked, pointing.

Ravan's heart felt like it was about to explode as Rhett moved towards the spot.

Rhett bent down, pulled out the bag, and opened it, revealing the Mana Cores inside.

Ravan tried to maintain his composure as he moved to take the bag away from the two.

"Those are just beast cores. We're using them to make weapons and daggers."

Riker, however, was not convinced. He called one of the investigators over, who carried a device capable of measuring the mana in the cores.

"If the device shows green, it means they were human cores; if it shows red, they are beast cores," Rhett said almost taunting Ravan as he smiled.

Ravan silently prayed, but deep down, he knew the truth.

The investigator scanned the Mana Cores, and a green light glowed brightly, confirming the worst. Ravan tried to feign ignorance.

"That doesn't look green to me," he said weakly, glancing around in a futile attempt to sway opinion.

But it was no use. Everyone in the room knew the truth. Laila's face was a mask of despair. The jig was up.

Ryker smiled, a cold, triumphant grin.

"Cadet Ravan," he announced loudly, "you're under arrest."

The room fell silent, the weight of the moment sinking in.

Ravan's heart sank as he realized the enormity of the situation.

His past had caught up with him, and there was no escaping the consequences now.
