Capítulo 36: Chapter 36: Sub Mission 1: Joining the Adventurer’s Guild
(Dante POV)
As the two of us stepped into the Cecilia Village branch of the Adventurer's Guild, I paused to take in the simplicity and elegance of its interior.
My eyes were then immediately drawn to a wooden bulletin board mounted to the right of the receptionist's desk.
Despite being just a branch, the quest board was abundant with requests, ranging from slime and hilichurl subjugations to requests for materials such as ores and elemental crystals.
As I continued to marvel at the guild's interior, a charming and cheerful voice roused me from my reverie.
"Ad Astra Abyssosque! Welcome to the Adventurers' Guild! What can I do for the both of you?" The beautiful bionic puppet asked with a smile.
With a smile, Aether replied, "Hello, Miss Receptionist. The two of us are here to apply as adventurers. What do we need to do to join?"
'I still can't get used to the way Aether changes his manner of speech and actions while pretending to be an innocent and naive young boy. It is truly remarkable,' I thought to myself while admiring the blonde's acting skills.
'Wait a minute. Based on how Aether interacted with the chat and with me earlier, I'm convinced he has a high emotional intelligence.' With widened eyes, a realization struck me.
'Does that mean, him seducing girls left and right on the game was intentional? Damn. My guy is seducing women and recruiting them as a free labor force to help him find his sister.' With this revelation, I could only marvel at the old man's cunning.
Sensing my intense gaze, Aether turned towards me and asked, "What's up? Your gaze had been fixed on me for quite a while now."
"Nothing, I just thought that my brother-in-law's cunning is truly remarkable." With a shrug, I replied as I cleared out my thoughts.
"I don't know what you are talking about. Also, I am not your brother-in-law." Aether replied with a smirk.
As the two of us continued with our playful banter, Katherine then returned carrying two pieces of paper.
'I didn't even notice she left. I need to focus and stop thinking about random things.' Quickly clearing out my mind, I focused on Katherine.
With a cheerful smile, she passed a form to both of us before saying, "Are you both able to read and write? Please let me know if you need any assistance with filling out the forms."
"I'm fine. My mother taught me how to write," I responded while observing Aether feigning illiteracy as he sought Katherine's help.
'Damn this dude. Paimon has been sleeping for quite a while now, I need that little fairy out and about to contain this guy.' With a click of my tongue, I decided to just ignore the man with a mission and simply checked out the form.
(Authors Note: Just to be clear if it isn't obvious yet, Aether is way different from the guy in the game. In the canon story, the dude is focused on the task of looking for his sister. But this dude is a free guy who is simply enjoying his journey as he knows his sister is safe (well for now), and he has the chat to empower him which greatly lessens his burden.)
I then started filling out the form and after a few minutes, I handed it back to Katherine.
With our forms filled, Katherine then passed them towards a young woman who was sitting at the back of the reception area before shifting her gaze toward us and began explaining the ins and outs of the guild.
"Alright, first let's talk about guild ranks, they vary from Copper, Iron, Silver, Gold, and Platinum." She then started yapping, which made me treat her as white noise.
'Even though I like the Genshin world, I won't be able to stay here for extended periods for stuff like adventurer ranks to matter. I wish there was a skip button in real life.' I thought as I pretended to listen.
After a few minutes of nonstop yapping, the explanation finally concluded as the young woman earlier returned bringing two emerald-colored ID cards.
"Here, take this. This is your Guild Card, aside from using it to take quests, it also doubles as a valid ID. Do take note, that if you lose your card, immediately report to the nearest Adventurer's Guild and it could be replaced with a fee." She said while handing us the IDs.
The front of the ID features an emerald-green hue, aligning perfectly with Mondstadt's motif, as it displayed the basic information that came from the forms we had filled out.
While the back has the same design as the name card a player would receive upon reaching level 7 of Mondstadt's reputation.
Making sure the information was accurate, I double-checked the info on my card.

Area of Expertise: Combat
Rank: Copper
As all of the information was right, I gave a nod of approval before pocketing my adventured card.
'It doesn't look bad, though why does it look so Mondstadt? Meh, I'll just ask.' With such thoughts, I face Katherine.
"Miss Receptionist, I have a question," I muttered as I questioned the design inside my mind.
"Alright, what is it?" Katherine replied.
"Why is the design too Mondstadt? Isn't the card supposed to be for all nations?" I enquired.
With a face that looked like she had heard that question countless times, she replied, "Yes, the card could be used on all nations. As for the design, it is simply modeled upon the motif of the nation where you registered. It is simply an advertisement that signifies you as a proud Mondstadt Adventurer."
With a nod of understanding, I shifted my gaze toward Aether and whispered, "You done rizzing up the pretty lady? Should we head out now? It'll be dark soon, and we still need to find a place to stay."
Coughing a few times, he replied, "I don't know what you are talking about. But it is indeed true that we still need to find lodging. Alright, let us head out now."
The two of us then faced Katherine as we thanked her for her time as we stepped out in order to leave.
But before we could, we heard her voice out the words, "Ad Astra Abyssosque, Adventurers! With effort, you shall reach the stars and conquer the Abyss!"
"Damn, I really need a skip button in real life," I whispered to Aether which he only replied with a chuckle.
