"What? I didn't hear you clearly, Laurene. What did you say?" He came closer to me and looked at me intently.
"Zairon… we… we have a child," I repeated, this time avoiding eye contact. I didn't hear anything, so I looked back at him.
He was too stunned to speak. His lips parted slightly, and shock registered on his face.
I bit my lip. "No–we have children, Zairon… they didn't miscarry," I corrected myself, which shocked him even more, and he didn't know how to react in front of me.
"Oh, God…" He covered his face with his hands, not expecting what I said. I covered my mouth, overwhelmed with emotions.
"You–you hid them from m-me?" His voice broke, and I immediately saw tears streaming down his face.
He quickly approached me and roughly grabbed my shoulders. "Why?! Is this your punishment for my cheating on you back then, huh? Laurene?! Do I have no right to know?!" His voice raised, surprising me and making me feel even guiltier for what I did.
