Capítulo 183: Chapter 186: A Child in Need of Guidance

It was quite unexpected.

Grindelwald certainly had a sense of ritual.

Wilson's expression was strange as he glanced at Grindelwald. Clearly, this man intended to give Albus Dumbledore the soul of Ariana Dumbledore as a Christmas gift.

"Alright, if that's what you want..."

Wilson reluctantly spread his hands and agreed, "Then I hope that when I come back next time, Mrs. Nagini will have chosen us..."

"..."

Grindelwald slowly nodded.

Nagini's eyes were fixed on the two in front of her. Her body was immobilized by Grindelwald's spell, leaving her unable to move.

"Christmas 1991..."

Wilson shook his head slowly as magical rings of light rose around his feet. "The world is bustling this Christmas..."

The next moment, Wilson's figure vanished from where he stood.

This peculiar teleportation magic was how Wilson could travel thousands of miles instantly. To this day, Grindelwald couldn't decipher it and assumed Wilson might be secretly using some kind of Portkey.

After Wilson left, Grindelwald slumped onto the sofa, waving his hand slightly to release Nagini from the spell.

Nagini nervously clutched her skirt, feeling helpless in front of this terrifying man. She feared Grindelwald, a man who had once wreaked havoc on Europe.

Everyone who had experienced the calamity Grindelwald caused years ago feared his power and his ability to manipulate hearts.

Especially since Grindelwald was so adept at it.

Though she and Credence were companions, Grindelwald had easily deceived him multiple times, even though Nagini knew this.

Despite knowing she had been deceived before, Credence still foolishly trusted Grindelwald when he was deceived again.

Now, they were the only two people left in the office.

Nagini looked at Grindelwald in front of her, fear creeping into her heart.

"I thought you'd be curious."

Grindelwald's hand supported his forehead, his penetrating eyes peeking through his fingers at the nervous and frightened Nagini. "Aren't you curious who that boy was?"

"Who is he?"

Nagini instinctively asked, then quickly added nervously, "No! I'm not curious about who he is... I'm curious about what time it is now... Why haven't you changed over the years, and is Credence still alive..."

"..."

Grindelwald slowly shook his head.

The former Dark Lord, who once ravaged Europe, now appeared as an old man, his voice aged and weary. "The events before 1945 are long past; few remember them now..."

Actually, there weren't many who remembered.

Unfortunately, Grindelwald had left Nurmengard and taken over Durmstrang, rebuilding his forces, making it hard for people to forget his history.

"..."

Nagini covered her mouth in disbelief.

In his aged form, Grindelwald looked frail and beaten, his eyes dim, making it hard to believe this was the former Dark Lord.

"As you wished, I failed."

Grindelwald's appearance slowly reverted to that of a middle-aged man. He continued calmly, "Dumbledore won it all. I always believed this world would belong to either me or Dumbledore..."

"..."

Nagini recalled the wizard everyone praised.

During the First World War, Dumbledore was already the most powerful white wizard in the world. Nagini had heard many speak highly of him.

Indeed, Dumbledore deserved the praise.

Nagini believed he was the victor.

"But you're here..."

Nagini's expression was full of confusion, her eyes still wary and anxious.

"..."

Grindelwald remained silent.

The Dark Lord raised his wand, pointing it at his temple. A bit of magic entered his brain, drawing out a memory.

The next moment, Grindelwald threw this memory into a mirror in the headmaster's office.

The mirror, similar to a Pensieve, would show all the scenes within the memory.

In the mirror's image, a middle-aged Albus Dumbledore appeared, his eyes filled with complexity and pain. He seemed to be looking at Grindelwald, but eventually, he raised his wand!

Fog rose.

The image in the mirror shifted.

The once grand Nurmengard castle appeared dilapidated.

A group of Aurors led the memory's owner into Nurmengard's high tower, locking its heavy doors and imprisoning the memory's owner within.

"I lost."

Grindelwald moved closer to Nagini, calmly watching the memory in the mirror. "I thought I might be imprisoned in Nurmengard forever..."

As his voice trailed off, the mirror's image swirled with fog again.

The memory's owner spent day after day in the same room, facing the same wall. The spider webs on the wall thickened over time, and the room became cluttered.

Grindelwald's voice grew softer as he watched the memory in the mirror, recalling his past. "I thought it would be like this forever, quietly reflecting on my mistakes, but... he came."

The next moment, the image shifted again.

The memory's owner confronted a gray-haired youth.

Nurmengard castle was ablaze with Fiendfyre. The silver and dark blue flames intertwined, their explosive force shaking the castle to its foundations!

This was the scene of Grindelwald and Wilson Wright's first clash!

Nagini's face turned pale as she watched their battle, remembering the flames that nearly destroyed Paris. She hadn't expected the gray-haired youth could confront Grindelwald alone!

The fog swirled.

The memory's image shifted again.

The gray-haired youth raised his hand calmly, looking coldly at the memory's owner. With a casual spell, he defeated him.

"..."

Nagini covered her mouth in disbelief.

"I lost to him."

Grindelwald's voice whispered in Nagini's ear. "Nagini, he is a dangerous child, more dangerous than anyone I've ever met, more so than Credence ever was... I've been trying to change him, but his will is stronger than anyone else's. Only a truly pure and kind heart can influence him..."
