It was undeniable that Mukuro had won over a lot of fans with this scene. With his powerful abilities, good looks, and newfound status as an ally of the protagonist, it was no surprise he was quickly becoming a fan favorite.
"Tsk, tsk, I bet the Varia boss is going to make an appearance next," Daniel thought as he eagerly turned to the next page.
But there was no next page. Instead, he was greeted by a large "To Be Continued" panel.
"Already over?" Daniel sighed.
Even though the Porter always released two chapters at a time, it still didn't feel like enough! If only the Porter could be turned into a robot that updated constantly!
But even though he was eager to see what happened next in Katekyō Hitman Reborn!, Daniel hadn't forgotten about the Porter's new series.
"Cautious Hero: The Hero is Overpowered but Overly Cautious…" Daniel read the title aloud.
From the title, he guessed it was another isekai hero story. But the name intrigued him—was it going to be an invincible protagonist like One Punch Man? And what was this about being overly cautious?
With these questions in mind, Daniel started reading.
The story began with the goddess Ristarte being assigned to save an S-rank difficulty world, so she summoned an equally powerful hero named Seiya Ryuuguuin.
The opening was a classic summoning scene, establishing the world's premise and introducing the main characters. Ristarte, at first glance, was a beautiful goddess, but she had a lot of inner monologues and was a bit of a klutz.
As for Seiya, he was a cool and handsome hero, but he was also extremely paranoid.
For example, when prompted to state his stats, Seiya hesitated and overthought it, unlike the usual protagonists in isekai stories who would just dive right in. It took him a while to finally and reluctantly comply.
And even when it was time to go to the other world, Seiya refused, insisting on being fully prepared before he went.
His idea of preparation? Doing push-ups…
"Yup, this guy's a Saitama clone," Daniel thought, laughing to himself as he imagined Seiya training so hard he might end up bald.
After a period of training, Seiya finally agreed to go to the other world. At Ristarte's suggestion, he went to buy equipment.
But when it came time to buy gear, Daniel was floored. Seiya bought not one, not two, but three sets of armor!
"One to wear, one as a backup, and another backup in case I lose the first backup," Seiya explained.
"This is getting interesting," Daniel thought, fully hooked by now.
So far, the manga seemed like a comedy, with Seiya's caution bordering on the absurd. And Ristarte was clearly set up as the comic relief, constantly being outwitted by Seiya's over-the-top caution, leading to funny moments and exaggerated expressions.
Of course, using this kind of humor too much could make readers lose interest. But then again, this was the Porter they were talking about! One Punch Man had used similar techniques, and people still loved it.
Daniel soon found himself laughing again as Seiya encountered a common weak enemy in many games—a slime. But instead of defeating it quickly, Seiya kept using his most powerful attacks on the corpse, just to be sure it was really dead. Paired with Ristarte's shocked reactions, it was a hilarious scene.
But just as Daniel was catching his breath, he was thrown off again. Out of nowhere, one of the Demon Lord's Four Heavenly Kings appeared before Seiya!
In most isekai hero stories, the protagonist usually starts by fighting low-level monsters and only faces the demon lord's generals later on, after they've leveled up. So why was one of the Four Heavenly Kings showing up so soon?
"Surprised?" asked the Four Heavenly Kings member, as if reading the readers' minds. "Our Demon Lord has already sensed the signs of a summoning."
"Normally, summoned heroes start in weak areas, right? So we just waited in the nearby villages and towns."
Oh wow. So the Demon Lord was so cautious that he sent one of his top generals to camp out in the beginner's area.
Daniel couldn't help but think that this manga's characters were all trying to out-cautious each other.
The hero was so cautious he kept slaying the same slime, and the Demon Lord was so cautious he sent one of his strongest generals to ambush the hero right from the start. Talk about overkill!
