Capítulo 58: Chapter 58 : Sorry, You're too Slow!!

Time flies.

The day of the Chunin Exams had finally arrived.

Genin teams from Sunagakure and Iwagakure, accompanied by their elite Jonin leaders, began arriving at Konoha Village's main gate one by one.

At this point in history, the relationships between the major ninja villages were far less harmonious than they would be in the future. As a result, the Kazekage and Tsuchikage did not attend the event themselves.

It makes sense—the presence of a Kage in a rival village could lead to dangerous complications if anything unexpected were to happen.

Due to the large number of participants from other villages, Nara Shikamaru was tasked with receiving the representatives from Iwagakure, while the team from Sunagakure was assigned to Uchiha Sogetsu.

Outside Konoha's main gate, Uchiha Sogetsu stood with his arms crossed, dressed in black, waiting for the Sunagakure group to arrive.

Before long, his targets appeared.

A group of eight Sunagakure members, dressed in protective robes against the wind and sand, came into view.

As they drew closer, one of them stepped forward and removed his wide, white hood.

Beneath it was a gentle face with delicate features, sandy brown hair cropped to shoulder-length, and striking indigo eyes, resembling a finely cut gem.

She wore a Sand Ninja forehead protector on her neck and cautiously introduced herself in a clear voice: "Hello, I am one of the Jonin leaders from Sunagakure, Ginko."

Following her, another person stepped forward and removed her hood. "I am the leader of the Sunagakure team, Pakura."

Pakura wore her hair in a bun, with the top section dark green and the bottom orange. Her amber eyes had a cold demeanor, mixed with an air of detachment, as she looked at Uchiha Sogetsu with a hint of provocation in her gaze.

Uchiha Sogetsu greeted the guests with a friendly demeanor, lightly adjusting his glasses with a gentle push of his index finger. "I'm the one assigned to welcome you—Uchiha Sogetsu," he said.

Sunagakure's guests—Pakura and Ginko—exchanged glances. The mission to Konoha for the joint Chunin exam was expected to be straightforward, but they didn't anticipate the level of tension upon meeting their guide.

Sogetsu's eyes seemed to analyze them with an uncanny intensity, making them both uneasy.

Pakura, a strong-willed ninja, narrowed her eyes. "What are you staring at?" she snapped, her voice laced with annoyance.

Sogetsu raised an eyebrow, feigning innocence. "Oh, nothing," he said with a calm smile. "If you'll follow me, your accommodations are prepared."

He turned away, leaving Pakura with her thoughts. Her gaze followed him, a mix of curiosity and competitiveness burning in her eyes.

The Uchiha clan's reputation had always piqued her interest, and now she had the opportunity to test herself against one of them. However, Ginko, the more diplomatic of the two, gently tugged on Pakura's sleeve.

"Pakura," she whispered, "we're in Konoha. Let's keep a low profile."

She sighed but nodded. "I know, I know. I won't start anything," she replied, forcing herself to relax. It was their first time in Konoha, and the last thing they needed was to cause trouble.

As they walked through the village, the stark contrast to their own homeland became increasingly evident. Konoha's streets were spotless, bustling with life and activity.

The air was clear, free from the sandstorms and dust they were accustomed to. Lush greenery lined the pathways, and the scents from food stalls were tantalizing.

It was a far cry from the harsh desert environment of Sunagakure. They couldn't help but notice the extravagance—the use of water to clean streets, tend to gardens, and even for play. Water, a resource so precious in their home, was abundant here.

The sight stirred a deep sense of jealousy within them. Why was life so different here? Why did Konoha have so much while their village had so little?

The questions lingered as they followed Sogetsu through the village, each step serving as a reminder of the vast disparities between the two ninja lands.

The residents of Sunagakure were accustomed to surviving in harsh desert conditions. They had to deal with frequent sandstorms, relentless heat, and scarce water sources.

On the other hand, the people of Konoha lived comfortably in a lush, vibrant environment with abundant resources.

This contrast in living conditions created underlying resentment among the people from Sunagakure. As they saw the contentment in Konoha, the anger grew, and their gazes toward Konoha's inhabitants began to carry a hint of hostility.

Konoha and Sunagakure shared a border, which meant they often clashed. This relationship was still strained from past conflicts, especially since the Second Great Ninja War had only ended a few years earlier. The wounds from that war were still fresh, and hatred easily spread among the survivors.

As a group of Suna ninja entered Konoha, the villagers didn't hold back their disdain.

"Where did these beggars come from, asking for our food?" someone muttered.

"Do you smell them? It's like they haven't bathed in ages! They stink!" another voice chimed in.

"Yeah, they reek of sand and sweat," a third person added.

The villagers openly mocked the sand ninjas, making no effort to hide their contempt. The Suna ninjas, not ones to take insults lightly, grew increasingly agitated.

One young genin, Sentaro, couldn't take it anymore. He shot a glare full of malice at the villagers and snapped, "Say that again if you dare!"

His sudden outburst startled the villagers. The one who had taunted him first stumbled back, fear evident in his eyes, and fell to the ground.

Seeing their reaction, Sentaro's confidence grew. He sneered, "Is this all the courage Konoha has? Pathetic."

"Sentaro, stop it," said Ginko, the Suna ninja leader, with a hint of worry in her voice. She knew that escalating the situation wouldn't lead to anything good.

Sentaro, however, didn't seem to care. He shrugged and shot another glare at the villagers. "Cowards, all of you! If we were on a battlefield, you'd all be dead by now!"

"Get out of here, you Sand Ninja scum!"

A young boy, seemingly provoked by those words, picked up a stone from the ground and threw it with all his might.

*Thud!*

The stone struck Sentaro in the eye, taking him by surprise.

Although the stone wasn't thrown with great force, the stinging pain in his eye and the mocking expressions on his teammates' faces made Sentaro furious. "You little brat! You're dead meat!"

Without hesitation, Sentaro threw a shuriken at the child who had thrown the stone.

"No, Sentaro, don't!" Ginko shouted, trying to stop him, but she was a moment too late.

The shuriken whizzed through the air with a sharp, slicing sound. The child turned white with fear, and his parents screamed in terror.

Just as it seemed that the child's life would end in a bloody mess, a black-clad figure appeared between the child and Sentaro.

*Clang!*

The shuriken was caught effortlessly between two fingers.

The symbol of the Uchiha clan—a red and white fan—was emblazoned on the back of the black robe, leaving a strong impression on the Sand Ninja who witnessed the scene.

"I'm terribly sorry for the trouble caused," Ginko said, sighing with relief. She realized the gravity of the situation and quickly tried to explain, her voice tense with anxiety. "Sentaro didn't mean it; please forgive him!"

A minor scuffle could be brushed off, but throwing a shuriken at a child in another village? That could lead to serious consequences.

Sentaro, standing in the midst of his teammates, began to grasp the seriousness of what he had just done. His face turned pale, and his lips trembled slightly. He knew he had crossed a line, and everyone around him knew it too.

When Sogetsu Uchiha threw his shuriken aside, he turned to face the nervous Sand ninjas, smiling gently as he said, "No need to apologize, young ones. It's normal to be impulsive."

"Huh?"

Ginko let out a sigh of relief and showed a hint of gratitude on her face. "Thank you for forgiving him for his mistake."

Sentaro also breathed easier but had a trace of contempt in his heart. So this is all Konoha has to offer?

However, in the next moment, Uchiha Sogetsu changed his tone. "But if you make a mistake, there are consequences."

"What do you intend to do?!"

Pakura's eyes narrowed, sensing the underlying threat in Sogetsu's words.

Suddenly, Uchiha Sogetsu vanished from the Sand ninjas' sight without any warning—the speed was unimaginable.

By the time Pakura and Ginko realized what had happened, Sogetsu had already used his Body Flicker technique to appear behind Sentaro, like a ghost in the night.

Sentaro felt a chill down his spine, his eyes wide with fear. This Uchiha's teleportation technique was impossibly fast!

"Wait, stop!" he shouted in desperation.

"Stop!"

Pakura and Ginko tried to intervene, but they were too late. They were still a few meters away from Sentaro, and that was more than enough time for a Jonin to act.

Crack!

A sharp noise echoed as Sentaro's neck was violently twisted, his head turning a full 180 degrees.

In front of all the Sand Ninja, Uchiha Sogetsu effortlessly snapped the neck of a Sand shinobi. He then calmly took out a handkerchief and cleaned his hands, a gentle smile still on his face.

"Sorry, you're too slow," he said, his voice calm and polite.
