Capítulo 32: hunting

Wang weiye found himself facing a dire situation.

Approximately a battalion of enemies had arrived. Upon careful observation, thankfully, there were no heavy machine guns that could suppress their firepower, which relieved Wang Weiya somewhat.

However, with so many enemy troops, it was uncertain whether they could escape.

Guo Yunfeng preferred his rifle, while Wang Weiya placed two submachine guns within reach, ensuring all magazines were properly loaded. Since they were already prepared for a major battle, there was nothing more to consider.

A military officer shouted orders, roughly demanding they drop their weapons and surrender.

Wang Weiya chuckled, then gave his final response with the submachine gun in his hand...

He watched as the officer collapsed to the ground.

With surrender out of the question, the gunfire from the British positions intensified.

The British soldiers were armed with Lee-Enfield No. 3 rifles.

This was an excellent rifle—accurate, reliable, rapid-firing, and easy to handle. British soldiers underwent individual shooting and collective firing exercises, with a well-trained soldier able to fire 15 rounds in a minute.

The officer commanding these soldiers, Lieutenant Conk, was evidently an experienced officer, quite unlike the militia officers who would crumble at the first sign of trouble.

The officer's whistle sounded.

"Ready! Aim! Fire!"

At Lieutenant Conk's command, the Lee-Enfields were raised in unison.

The synchronized firing of Lee-Enfields made Wang Weiya feel as if he were being suppressed by a machine gun, unable to lift his head.

Their excellent marksmanship and disciplined training revealed Wang Weiya's numerical disadvantage, especially without tank support. Under the continuous fire from the British, Wang Weiya and Guo Yunfeng could only sporadically return fire.

The British objective was simple: to suppress the enemy with intense firepower and not rush into an attack. They simultaneously sealed off the area, crushing the enemy's confidence to continue fighting or hope to escape.

The inevitable result was the enemy's collapse.

This suppression couldn't continue.

Wang Weiya carefully observed the situation and shouted, "Sidao, do you see anything on the right? There's a spot there where one person can hide and avoid being hit by the British. I'll cover you as you move there!"

In the midst of the continuous gunfire, Wang Weiya noticed a characteristic of the British soldiers: they fired in two-stage sequences. After the first row of soldiers fired their empty magazines, the second row immediately began a new round of suppression.

And all of this was commanded by the officer, causing a very brief gap.

Wang Weiya checked his magazine and took a deep breath. Bullets flew through the air, or landed before their position. Despite being pinned down and unable to lift his head, he silently counted.

Guo Yunfeng was also prepared...

The moment was coming soon... The danger was immense; a slight mistiming, an early or late appearance, would result in being riddled with bullets.

Continuously calculating, when the British fired their final bullet and the officer's command had not yet been issued, Wang Weiya suddenly stood up!

Perfect timing!

The MP18 submachine gun unleashed a fearsome burst of fire!

After being suppressed for so long, anger erupted from the barrel.

The British never expected the suppressed enemy to retaliate. Caught off guard, several of them were mowed down.

Suddenly, what had been an orderly formation became chaotic.

If the British used Lee-Enfield volley firing to create the power of a machine gun, then the MP18 submachine gun in Wang Weiya's hands was like a miniaturized version of a machine gun!

The tongue of fire roared, and now it was the British who couldn't lift their heads!

Seizing this opportunity, Guo Yunfeng suddenly rose and charged toward the spot Wang Weiya had indicated. Protected by the submachine gun, he reached the spot in a dozen steps, then lay down and aimed his rifle at the British.

At this moment, Wang Weiya emptied his magazine.

The coordination was seamless!

Wang Weiya quickly crouched down again. Now, it was up to Guo Yunfeng.

As the terrifying gunfire ceased, the British soldiers rose from the ground, but before they could steady themselves, a gunshot rang out, and a bullet flew accurately from one soldier's forehead.

A body collapsed to the ground.

The British soldiers, just standing up from the submachine gun fire, were in shock. Another life was taken, and worse, they didn't know where the bullet had come from.

Before they could react, another bullet flew, too precise! The second person fell under the bullet!

The second, Guo Yunfeng silently counted in his heart...

But this was far from over. Seizing the opportunity while the British were in disarray, Wang Weiya, with a fresh magazine, stood up once again, and the MP18 roared anew.

Chaos ensued; the British were truly in disarray this time.

With the submachine gun and rifle, the two of them organized a crossfire.

Firing more than a dozen rounds, Wang Weiya didn't give the British any time to retaliate before quickly crouching down again.

Lieutenant Conk was infuriated to the extreme; he still hadn't figured out how many enemies there were, and he had already lost so many men.

These damned Germans!

Now, he was beginning to guess why Prince Solberg's regiment and the Welsh 19th Battalion had suffered such heavy losses.

These damned Germans were nothing short of devils!

The British hid, temporarily unable to face the terrifying casualties, while Wang Weiya didn't even lift his head. He knew there were countless hidden barrels aimed at him from the other side, just waiting for him to appear.

He wouldn't give the British that chance!

Guo Yunfeng stopped moving and instead stared at the opposing side, patiently tracking their targets.

A good hunter needs ample patience; sometimes, to hunt a prey, one may need to wait patiently for a day.

And now was such a moment:

Hunting!

Wang Weiya and Guo Yunfeng were hunters, and the British soldiers across were their prey!

Time seemed to freeze; the battlefield was filled with a deathly silence.

No one spoke, no one lifted their heads.

Now, it was a test of each side's patience.

At this moment, a British soldier couldn't bear it any longer, cautiously peeking half his head out from cover.

But even that half was enough!

Another bullet flew like a snake, piercing through his head!

The war game had officially begun!
