The next day, Fiona was sitting at her kitchen table, her mind still swirling with thoughts of the man who might be her father.

Even though she didn't want to think about him, she just couldn't help it. She had tried to distract herself with work, reading, and even a bit of cooking, but nothing seemed to shake the nagging feeling that had settled in the pit of her stomach.

The doorbell rang, pulling her out of her reverie. She frowned, not expecting anyone. When she opened the door, her heart skipped a beat at the sight of Liam standing there, a warm smile on his face.

He held a bouquet of vibrant flowers in one hand and a box of chocolates in the other. He had sent her the usual good morning texts that morning and they had even talked over the phone yet he hadn't mentioned to her that he was coming over.

"Liam, what are you doing here?" Fiona asked, her surprise evident as she looked him over and her smile widened when she saw the gifts he was holding.
