Chapter 5 : Whack-a-mole, or is it a mole..?(2)
--------------------------------------------------------
V was pissed off.
No.
She was absolutely livid right now,
V stood out in the open back at the city, it came with great difficulty to follow Uzi's footprints due to how thick the snow got the closer it is to the city.
She'd been using up her Scanner's Maximum output just to make out the littlest detail, it became more of a pain in the ass when she stumbled upon a horde of Fragmented culling towards her.
They weren't really trouble or a threat to V considering that Fragmenteds are significantly weaker than the average Worker Drone due to how damaged their bodies are.
What pissed off V was the fact that their mass of multiple footprints covered Uzi's.
Great, just great. The fact that they were walking towards where Uzi's footprints traced back meant that these guys were going after her.
She really wanted nothing but to blow them all up, but setting up an explosion in the middle of the city was downright stupid. It'll not only attract Eldritches, but she'll also be forced to deal with possibly hundreds of Fragmented going after her due to the noise.
But she figured she could use this, once a Fragmented has set their sights on someone, they won't stop going after them until they're dead, she didn't know why these things did it, but right now it should prove useful in tracking down Uzi.
She'll just kill the horde when they're close to Uzi.
She just hoped it won't take hours with how slow these guys are walking.
 ++--------------------++
Oh my god.
Sometimes she hated herself for tempting the universe. IT TOOK MORE THAN A FEW HOURS.
These rotten bastards were as slow as a baby drone crawling, and THEY'RE PILL SHAPED.
Why are these guys so slow?!
It took another 2 hours for the Fragmented to cross a single City block, how far did Uzi even go..?
She was getting tired slowly leaping from building to building to follow the horde, traces of Uzi's foot prints were already gone due to how thick the snow was in the city compared to the forest, all she could do right now is be patient.
.
.
.
This... Was taking some time, another three hours had passed and these things had already gone a quarter close to the edge of the city, if she were to guess how far they've gotten.
It would be at least three or four kilometers away from the Outpost, the city itself was wide, stretching for about 12 kilometers.
Taking some time to herself, she opened her satchel and grabbed a small bottle of Oil, she was at 30% already from all her stunts.
Checking her timer she'd set in before leaving the Outpost, it's been 71 Hours since she's left.
It's already been three whole days, it felt like only a few hours.
She wondered what her daughters her doing, her thoughts wandered off to them, especially to her oldest. Luzi.
She took some time being engrossed on what she should bring her oldest daughter once she gets back home, Luzi always loved parts that she could use to build something, but she might have to refrain from that for some time, considering that she built a railgun, without her knowing.
Her mind went back to the times when Luzi was first created, N and Uzi had been afraid and messy as parents, the two were completely clueless on how to be parents.
V being the expert on animal science, knew a thing or two about being a mother, she'd been the one to help them with taking care or Luzi.
That was one of the reasons V married N, taking care of Luzi had reawakened feelings she used to have for N, don't get her wrong she loved him, but when Uzi and N had gotten married it hurt her.
It was only till then that she gained the courage to ask Uzi if she could enter a marriage with N, a Polyamory marriage if you will, Uzi was a bit hesitant at first, before she just asked 'fuck it, both?'
V was confused at first by what Uzi meant back then, till she replied with 'both.'
After that, a few parties and some help from Uzi, Vivy was made. Though they had to ask Tessa about making a Untrained neural system, A pill baby, without N knowing to make it a surprise.
The rest was history after that, the feeling of being a mother was everything to V, her daughter(s) are everything to her.
She then remembered a funny detail to her oldest daughter, Luzi's name was supposed to be 'Lucy' according to N when she was made, but Uzi wanted it to be 'Luzi' to be unique and awesome.
V was immediately cut off from her nostalgia when her audio receptors heard the sounds of gunshots.
She immediately stood up from the building rooftop she was currently observing the horde from and brought her wings. She flew up to the skies to get a better view at what was happening, she immediately frowned when she saw that the group of Fragmented's had somehow moved from the spot she was watching them to half a city block away. .
Shit, was she that distracted that she didn't even realize these slow bastards had managed to get so far? She took a brief moment to recheck and confirm the memories recorded by her five eyes, her musings felt like only a minute, it was only a mere minute to her, however it was more than 20 minutes in reality.
Yeah, she was that distracted.
She flew towards the source of the gunshots, Worker drones would have barely registered the sounds of gunshots due to how far it was. That didn't apply much to V since Disassembly drones, just like how she has an advanced sense of smell. They were made to hunt after all.
flying past by multiple buildings. She was hastily trying to get there as fast as she could, for all she could know it might be Uzi trying to fend off the horde that had managed to catch up to her.
When she got closer, she finally saw where the source of the gunshots came from, it was inside one of the tall buildings, just like any other building in this wintery land, the building was damaged, all the windows were broken.
The horde of Fragmenteds were trying to get inside the building from the looks of it, if this is where she was led to by these rotting morons then...
Did that mean Uzi was here? Was Uzi inside that building?
Questions for later, V took out her rockets and immediately started blasting the wave of fragmenteda into nothing.
Eventually she switched out to her guns, diving towards one of the Fragmented and stabbing it with her foot, the acceleration of her landing making a smal crater to the ground.
Removing her foot from the already dead corpse of an Fragmented, she immediately spun around delivering a roundhouse kick to a fragmented thet got too close to her. Afterwards she started firing her guns in all directions. mowing down the population with terrifying efficiency, it looked like she came out of a First Person shooting game and tore apart every enemy that entered her sights.
Finally, after firing nonstop, her guns ran out of bullets. She'll need to wait a few minutes for them to be reproduced by her systems, so she took out her swords and started slicing apart every rotting body of the Fragmented.
She pushed forward and kept running towards the entrance of the building the Fragmented have been trying to get into.
Deploying her right wing for a brief moment, she performed another Rotorbladed spin once for just an instant to avoid hurting herself, she didn't need to cut through something thick, she just needed an attack that covered a good area.
Suffice to say, it did work nicely as every surrounding Fragmenteds that were close to her were all cut in half, rendering them bottomless and incapable of walking. They were still dangerous even if they didn't have legs anymore as they could just crawl towards an unsuspecting victim, so she sliced them all apart while heading towards the entrance.
After a few more games of tearing apart the Fragmented like it's a doom game she's played once before, courtesy of a younger Luzi attempting to bond with her. She bursted through the door of the building, killing every Fragmenteds that got in her way.
She saw that every undead drone on the first floor was already 'dead', bullet holes filling parts of the reanimated drones.
The sounds of gunshots rang inside the building, V looked up towards the ceiling and frowned.
'Third Floor..? No, the sound is too muffled, Fifth Floor?'
She deployed her left wing while flicking her right wing that she recently used as a weapon. She crouched and started putting strength into her legs to Pierce through the multitudes of floors above her.
Yeah, there was no way she was going to use the stairs to climb up when she could just bust through the concrete like nothing.
'Hold on tight purple pipsqueak, I'm coming.'
She jumped, her servos and inner-machinery whirring in compliance as she punched through the floors, immediately reaching the fifth floor.
She stabbed the poor Fragmented that happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, closing her wings and bringing out her guns. She knew that Uzi was directly on this floor judging by the obvious fact that there was a worker drone here desperately fighting off the remaining quarter of the horde.
Uzi! No... No.. No!
She landed in a partial backflip and yelled out, her voice ringing through the building itself.
"Duck, you idiot!" She yelled as loud as she could, temporarily garnering the attention of the undead drones for a few seconds.
Enough for the unseen worker drone to hit the deck and hug the floor, V could see 'Uzi' through the gaps of the walking corpses of drones, well, only her body, she was wearing an orange camouflage themed jacket, she didn't see her face, nor did she turn her head on V but whatever!
V retracted her hands for her machine guns once more, she can tell inside her systems that it's not fully refilled, but it's fine, she didn't need that many bullets to get rid of these fewer numbers.
She stretched her arms wide and started firing in a horizontal motion, she spun while firing her weapon rendering every fragmented more than a fragment of what they were, fucking dead.
she only stopped when her guns started clicking, signifying that she's out of ammo, it didn't matter much since every fragmented was pretty much dead at this point.
She regained her hands and ran towards where 'Uzi' was, 'she' was still on the ground holding onto a rifle, a hood on 'Uzi's' head covering her face, 'her' back turned on V as 'she' sat up.
V narrowed her eyes suspiciously when she approached 'Uzi'
Since... When did 'she' get taller? 'She' was still smaller by a few inches or so, but still..
"Uzi.. You're Ali..ve..? " She called out, but slowly faltered at her last words.
Orange eyes stared at her, her yellow neon eyes stared back.
Who stood in front of her was not Uzi, it was a Worker Drone that was as tall as Thad, black hair covered by the average Worker Drone hat. A teenager..?
'Her' was not actually Uzi, it was a 'him.'
She didn't even have time to process what came out of her mouth, she was too annoyed to care.
Annoyed that she just spent most of her time following a lead that didn't even allow her to meet Uzi again.
"Who the fuck are you? I'm in a really pissy mood right now kid, better answer fast. " She threatened.
The orange themed teenager could only scratch the back of his head sheepishly.
"H-Hey.. I'm uh, Teacher Uzi's.. Student I guess?" The young drone nervously said.
 ++--------------------++
Luzi groaned as she slammed her head at her desk, school was honestly being a pain in the rear again, with some people making fun of her, nothing physical but verbal.
Fortunately Quinzlet and Brad were there to make her day better, it took a few more hours for school to end, literal, agonizing hours of being in school.
Luzi couldn't focus much on her studies, there was something eating away most of her concentration while she was at class, that made it more annoying for her.
Most of her troubles are Indirectly from her Stepmom. It's been 3 days since V went outside the Outpost, and Luzi can't help but feel even more worried for her Stepmother, that was the longest V has been outside, that in itself is already worrying, but three days without news or anything about her was getting on Luzi's circuits.
Not like she could do anything but hope V is safe, her younger sisters were already craving V's presence because of how long she was gone, three days was short for most, but for Luzi it felt like a damn month.
She almost wished that V never went outside to look for her real mother.
Her class time ended not too long after her Inner thoughts finished, she asked her friends if they wanted to stay again at their house since it was getting too lonely even if her younger sisters were there. Brad and Quinzlet were more than happy to comply at the thought of hanging around with their precious friend.
After they left the school and arrived at Luzi's house, they started cleaning up the place first before they started to watch movies again. After a few movies Luzi saw that it was time for her to pick up her adorable siblings.
"Hey, I'm going to pick up Aralee and Vivy, are you guys staying?" She asked her friends who were still sitting on the living room couch, her friends nodded and paused the Flat-screen TV they were watching the movie on. Luzi didn't really mind if her friends stayed at their house and continued watching the movie they were watching, but they decided to come anyway.
On their way to the school Aralee and Vivy studies in. Luzi talked about how they were too clingy to her, not that she minded it, hell, she really appreciates them for it. But that didn't mean they had to be everywhere she went.
The two wouldn't really admit it that easily but, they're scared of leaving Luzi alone, she could literally stumble upon something that reminds her of her Mother or Dad and start having a panic attack in the middle of the small-city.
Yeah, it was sort of overprotective and obsessive, Luzi was aware of this. But Luzi ignored it anyway since she herself internally agreed that it could happen.
Quinzlet never questioned it, she knew Luzi had some traumatic events and PTSD's of her real parents dying but.. 'Was it that bad, that she would literally start having a breakdown in front of so many people..?' It had already happened before, after all, Luzi found a small accessory that was remotely similar to her dad's pilot pin to his hat . Brad personally knew Mrs. Uzi and Mr. N, but even he only had an idea of what actually happened that gave Luzi her fears and traumas, apart from the fact that Mr. N died obviously.
When they finally arrived at Aralee and Vivy's classroom, Luzi immediately started bracing herself for the 'hug of pain and cuteness', Brad and Quinzlet already meters away from the door to avoid being caught in the inevitable napalm hug-machines that were Aralee and Vivy.
True enough, Luzi was clever enough to brace for impact because the door slammed open so hard she could actually see some cracks on the wall it was attached to.
"GUH!" Luzi was peeled off from the ground like a soccer ball and was launched away by Aralee and Vivy's tag-team of tackle hug.
"Big sister!"
"Sister!"
Yep, it had definitely been a good idea to prepare herself for that.
Brad and Quinzlet stayed a little far away from the Hybrids so as to avoid getting cut by their ridiculously fast wagging tails, Luzi had her tail hidden most of the time under her second jacket that was tied around her waist.
As per usual, the two small drones were just as chirpy as ever. Luzi asked her sisters if they've been good, to which they responded with cheery nods. The group had to find another way out of the school due to the amount of young drones swarming out to go back to their respective homes and parents that were waiting, better to take a shortcut than having to deal with that.
The way back home was loud as usual, with both hybrids pestering their Big Sister for praises and attention. Brad caught Quinzlet seemingly distracted ever since they left the Elementary school. She was fine just an hour ago, but now she's... Seemingly preoccupied with her thoughts, preoccupied enough that she didn't register him calling out to her.
"Hey, hey! Quinz..? You good?" Brad looked at her worryingly.
"Oh, uh" Quinzletd blinked.
Quinzlet frowned as they continued walking, Brad stared at her for a few more seconds, intent on calling out to her again. However he stopped as she saw her nod to herself, did she just finish monologuing to her or what..?
"Brad, Luzi." She called out to her friends, Luzi who was giving her sisters a rough hand on their hairs playfully stopped what she was doing when she heard Quinzlet, she looked to Brad who had a somewhat alert and serious expression, which amazingly for someone her age, also did and turned her full attention to Quinzlet who likely had something important to say with the troubled face she had.
"Luzi, when we were walking to your sisters school, we passed by a group of WDF's and JESSA Security Department(JSD) members circled in a group, who I assume was discussing something important, you saw them too right..?" She put a hand on her chin and stopped walking, Luzi and Brad did the same, their attention fully on Quinzlet.
"Yeah, what about it..?" Luzi asked Quinzlet warily.
Quinzlet nodded at the confirmation and continued, "By any chance, did your receptors manage to hear and record what they were saying? I could have sworn they were talking about something worth the attention, I couldn't hear much since they were too far from us." Quinzlet looked at Luzi's eyes. "Hybrids have a stronger programming when it comes to the five senses, did you happen to hear it.. Luzi?"
Luzi confusingly tilted her head to the side, before checking her inner memories that happened from the past few hours. The ability to do this was always something drones could do if they were attentive enough, of course, they could still forget things even if they rechecked their memories, and not all of them were that accurate.
While Luzi was trying to remember what she heard before, Brad walked up to Quinzlet and crossed his arms.
"Was there something wrong? What did you even hear, for you to be this troubled over it?" Brad asked Quinzlet who was waiting for Luzi's response.
"A day ago, while I was working on research papers for the company, I overheard from a few higher ups about a security breach.. It got my attention so I decided to do a little research and didn't find much, apart from the fact that there's been a report of Worker Drones missing from our camp." She never turned her gaze away from Luzi who was still trying to remember what she heard.
"And..? People go missing once in a while and are eventually found, no biggie..?" Brad shrugged hopefully, he was already picking up on what she meant, but he just didn't want to think about it, he's seen this in movies damn it. Or he could be wrong, he wasn't sure.
"Brad, there's been a total of 28 drones missing already. The reports of people missing back then was because of a few lingering weak Eldritches roaming around our Outpost after Ms. V had killed the Eldritch that invaded the Outpost. This is different, they all disappeared in the same hour and at the same time, West Wing. Inside. Our. Outpost, there's no reason for drones to disappear inside our Outpost Brad."
Brad gulped a little, fearing the fact that he may actually be right from his improv of a guess.
"And just from the few small words I heard from those WDF's were enough to be of concern." She looked at Brad, "Something unwanted is inside our Outpost."
"You don't mean.." Brad slowly uttered.
But before he could finish, he was cut off by the sound of Luzi swearing, thankfully her sisters were at the side distracting themselves with their phones after the small duo saw that the Teenagers would be busy.
"Oh fuck." Luzi said with hollowed eyes.
"What, did you hear or remember what they said?" Quinzlet hastily walked towards her and stopped inches away from Luzi.
"T-The WDF and JESSA Security are planning on sending a squad at the West Wing of the Outpost, M-Might be an Eldritch that had somehow gotten in.." Luzi's voice slowly turned fearful at that last part.
Quinzlet gave out a 'Tsk' and complained. "And the company hasn't let out an alarm or announcement yet.. What's Mistress J doing..?"
As if to answer her, an explosion rang off the entire underground city, a smoke coming from the West Quarter of the city.
The city-alarm rang out as a few more explosions appeared.
Brad, being the wisest and rational out of the three of them, shared the only piece of wisdom he could give.
"Oh fuck."
 ++--------------------++
After clearing the Fragmented, V grabbed the mysterious kid and sat his ass down on a chair on the highest floor of the building they were currently in.
She had her claws and arms crossed together as she threateningly looked at the teenager that was sitting nervously, shifting uncomfortably from where he was sitting.
V was walking back and forth with a hand on her chin, thinking of what she should do with the teenager.
She stopped prattling around and turned to the teenage drone.
"Brat, what's your name?" V questioned.
"I'm, uh, Isaac." The brat answered shakily.
"How do you know Uzi, who are you to her? What are you doing outside here, where did you come from?
WHAT did you mean by you're Uzi's student." She barraged him with questions.
Isaac was somewhat overwhelmed by the speed she asked him, but he complied anyway out of fear of being mauled to death by his Teacher's friend.
She did save his metal rear from being torn apart and eaten alive by Fragmenteds, so that fear kinda halves.
"Teacher saved me, I'm her companion or uh.. Student as I like to call myself, I'm looking for her, Outpost 10 and uh, she sort of teaches me how to survive." He answered In quick succession.
She glared at him.
'Crap baskets.'
D-Did he say something wrong?
Isaac couldn't help but swallow another gulp as she started at him, his hollowed eyes darting around to look anywhere but her. Seriously, he could feel the metaphorical glare of death to him.
He felt like whatever was going to come out of his mouth next was gonna be the death of him, so he decided to carefully choose his next words. He answered her questions though! Come on!
"Why should I believe you? For all I know you could be some sort of hologram or false illusion created by an Eldritch." She glared even harder as she spoke.
"Y-You make a fair and valid point."
"Then I should kill you, there's a probability you're not even telling the truth." She took her right sword out causing Isaac to yelp.
"W-Wait I really am telling the truth!" He swung his arms wildly in surrounder
V didn't stop walking towards him, her sword wound up for a slash to cut the teenager down, while she may have gotten softer over the years, that did not mean she wasn't capable of being cold hearted, besides, it was more likely this is an ambush by an Eldritch that had some strange power to lower people's guards.
Moreover, the little brat had Uzi's scent on him, Uzi's Oil.
She was about to cleave him in two when he said something that made her core skip.
"C-Cabin fever labs! Death of Solver happened there!" He desperately shrieked, closing his eyes out of fear.
What .
"..What?" V stopped, her eyebrows burrowed in suspicion and anger.
"T-Teacher told me about it! You guys defeated the Ą̷͈͇̓́ṋ̴́͆̚g̶̢̺͕̎́e̶̘̼̩̅̕l̸̰͋ in there, she told me about it."
Hundreds of thoughts immediately began pouring inside V's head, her processors going haywire at what Isaac said. Knowledge about the [ABSOLUTESOLVER] was a relatively secret thing, only known to those who were affected by it, became a victim of it or just knew somehow.
And it sure as hell wasn't a public knowledge, most murder drones didn't even know it existed.
The surviving general populace of the Outpost's in this continent only knew about how the planet was nearly torn apart by a literal blackhole with tendrils. They only knew the event as the 'Singularity'. Which, well, It IS the singularity, Tessa and J didn't bother changing the name of it. however the general populace did not know who or what caused it.
Tessa and J were the ones to have spilled the information about how it was caused by some being, they didn't specify and just let the people pour their thoughts into it, better to keep them confused with half the truth. Everyone just started calling the one who did it 'Angel' for some reason, it felt disturbing for V that they called CYN an angel... Or rather the Solver like some sort of divine majestic being.
And right now, this kid somehow knew about the solver, if what he actually said is true, then..
V snapped out of her millisecond blast of thoughts and glared at Isaac.
Isaac still kept his eyes closed, using his hands to try and block out the sight of him literally dying by his Teacher's friend.
V scowled and lowered her sword.
"Hey, Brat." V called out to him.
Isaac slowly opened his hollowed eyes and looked at V, she did nothing but stare at him for a few seconds before she swung her sword-arm, making a tiny cut to Isaac's cheek, Oil immediately oozing out.
Isaac didn't even see it happen, before he could process and scream out of fear, V reassured him.
"Don't shit your pants kid, I won't kill you. Just had to make sure." She closed back her sword and replaced it with her hand.
"Y-You won't kill me?" Isaac stuttered.
"No, If you know about the Solver then that means.. Sigh.." V walked over to one of the chairs in the room and sat down, setting up one leg over another as she contemplated over things.
"Brat, why do you have Uzi's scent on you? Did you do something to her?" She glared again. "WHY do you have her smell on you."
"W-Wait, you can smell Teacher's scent? I've been looking for her!" Isaac claimed.
V raised an eyebrow at that. ' Looking for her..? Why? He said he was her student or whatever, did they get separated..? That didn't explain Uzi's smell which was currently latched onto him. '
"What do you mean? And you didn't answer my question." She crossed her arms and leaned on the chair.
"..." He didn't say anything.
"So..? Better answer my question brat, I'm still planning on killing you if you prove useless."
"T-Teacher's... Injured because of me." Isaac said with regret in his eyes.
"No shit, I followed a trail of Oil that belonged to Uzi, which led me to you." V stopped leaning on the chair and leaned forward. "Explain."
"L-Let me finish, about four days ago, Teacher was acting strange and more paranoid than usual. She said she found out about something, she never told me what but.. Then she brought me here and told me to be on the lookout, she was looking for something. I don't know what."
Isaac lowered his head and gazed down at the floor as he continued his recollection. "She told me that we were going to a communication relay or something." V perked up when she heard him mutter about the communication relay.
"When we arrived there.. She did find something but it wasn't what we were looking for, It was an Eldritch that looked... Rather small and closer to a worker drone with some changes instead of the usual giant monster of death, It wasn't just one, there were more of them.. It's as if they were a pack, there were normal Eldritches too."
V burrowed her eyebrows even further as she listened. "Kid, by any chance, was there a Bird-Jet Eldritch from that.. 'Pack' you're talking about."
Isaac raised his head in confusion, "Huh? Yeah, there was. What about it?"
"Nothing, just continue."
Isaac suspicioned that she might have had something more to say, but he ignored it. "We were pretty much surrounded, It was just us two at the relay when those Eldritches attacked, Teacher told me to run away but I wanted to help her, there's no way she was going to make it out alive fighting a dozen Eldritches all at once."
Isaac clenched his fist. "But, all I did was get in the way, Teacher couldn't fight properly with me in the way, she took a hit for me and lost her arm!"He closed his eyes in regret.
V did nothing but listen.
"After that, she kicked me to the forest below to save me. It was really lucky for me to have landed on a tree that cushioned my fall, straight to a cave, somehow."
The fuck? V began to get even more annoyed, so this whole time, she wasn't following Uzi but this little brat that had Uzi's scent on her, likely from her oil being splattered all over him and masking it with hers.
Oh, for fuck sake. She forgot! Uzi's oil had a much stronger scent compared to normal worker drones and that scent could last for a long time, a by-product of her previously being a solver or something according to Uzi.
It was something N noticed first back when they were at war with the other Murder Drones, whenever Uzi was injured, N would try to close her wounds with his saliva which barely worked, he later noticed that anything Uzi's oil had been spilled on was covered by her scent for a very long time, not to mention the scent was really sweet.
Something they've used back then to bait and ambush the rogue Disassemblers.
If Uzi took a hit for him and had her arm dismembered, then it was possible that her Oil must have latched onto him.
So that's why, half way through when she was following the trail to Uzi, the smell had something mixed to it.
"Aughhh..." She moaned in annoyance. "Brat, if Uzi died because you were a goddamn dead weight I'll make sure to rip you apart and have Tessa rebuild you over and over so I can do it again and again."
"T-Teacher's alive! I promise, we have a device that indicates if any of us perished." He rolled up his orange jacket's sleeve and showed her a long arm-band-watch or whatever it was that had multiple rectangular lights, each with different colors.
"What's that do?"
"It's connected to us, when someone wearing this device dies, their color will disappear from someone else's arm-band, Teacher's violet color hasn't disappeared yet, which means she's still alive.. Somewhere."
V took this in, something that allows you to at least know your allies current status was useful, surely something useful has a GPS attached to them right?
"Kid, if it tells you the current status of your companions, surely it has a tracking feature to it?" V asked Isaac.
"Uhhhhh... Teacher made these to keep check on us, she wasn't able to finish the tracking feature because something kept interrupting the signal, making it pretty much useless." Isaac answered.
Us ? What did the kid mean by that, was there more of them?
"Brat, by us you mean there's more of you guys, judging by the colors on that arm-band." She said while looking at the other 7 different colors aside from Uzi's on the arm-band.
"Oh uh! Yeah, there's 8 of us in total that accompanies Teacher."
V crossed her arms again as she stood up from the chair, ".. Where's the rest?"
"Oh.. In another city, they're all resting from rights now, an Eldritch got the jump on us and nearly took out everyone."
"Useless idiots." V muttered under her breath, "Enough about all of that, do you have any leads on where the purple idiot is?"
Isaac frowned at her nickname of Uzi's, that wasn't nice.
"Teacher's not an idiot." He hissed out.
V could only snort at his reaction and ignored his annoyance.
"So, leads?." She said again
He pouted angerly but answered anyways, "Not much, Teacher's been hiding from what I know, considering you can only find her when she allows herself to be found."
V snorted a laugh, "What is she now? One of those anime edgelords she's always watching?"
Isaac raised an index to say something but stopped midway. "I.. Uhh, haven't actually thought about that now that you've mentioned it.."
V had to hold back a laugh, even if she was pissed off at Uzi, at least there were things that stayed the same.
"Yeah right, if that's all I'm going now. " V turned away and waved him away, now that she has some information on Uzi, she'll start looking for her again.
But before she could deploy her wings Isaac called out to her.
"WAIT!" V turned her head over her shoulder.
"What?"
"Shouldn't we look for her together?! I mean were both looking for her, so it only makes sense to work together to find her!"
V fully turned to face him and huffed. "Kid, it's better if you go to Outpost Alpha instead, you'd end up a deadweight to me.
I'm gonna be flying and you're gonna be running around on ground zero where Fragmenteds are always around."
Isaac grit his teeth, as much as he hated to admit it, she was right. A worker drone like him would literally have trouble keeping up with a murder drone like her.
The word 'deadweight' was starting to piss him off.
"But still.."
"Leave it at that kid, you'll get killed around me, knowing the fact that Uzi was alive was good enough to me."
She walked away to an open destroyed part of the building, she crouch to take off and let her wings to appear.
Isaac clenched his fist even tighter.
'But.. If I stay like this, I'd stay a hammer in the water..'
V took off with her wings and launched into the sky, her skill with her flight was impeccable was always, perfect control and balance of her wings.
So when the unfamiliar weight shook her, she was taken off guard and nearly fell.
"WHAT THE-?!" She looked at where the unfamiliar weight had grappled onto her, nearly losing her balance as she flew.
Clinging on to hem of her waistcoat, was a screaming Isaac who was clinging onto her waistcoat.
He was quite literally clinging for his fucking life.
"OOHHHH MY GODDD THIS IS THE WORSE DECISION I'VE MADE IN MY LIFE!!!" If it was possible, Isaac would have shitted his pants by now.
"YOU LITTLE SHIT WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" V has never been grateful than ever for her new clothes being twice as durable compared to her previous clothes, otherwise, the acceleration she was going at and Isaac's weight she would have been stripped naked. Ew.
"I'M COMING WITH YOU TO FIND TEACHER!" Isaac screamed out to the top of his vocals
"DUMBASS I DON'T NEED SOMEONE TO HOLD ME BACK!"
"I PROMISE I WON'T HOLD YOU BACK! YOU CAN LEAVE ME TO DIE IF I DO!"
Isaac's eyes were closed as he clung onto V.
"THAT DOESN'T-" V was even more annoyed than ever, this was going to get them killed.
" PLEASE ." Isaac yelled over her, V's expression immediately softened when she heard his voice.
It was almost a desperate plea, not out of fear of falling obviously. But pure desperation of someone wanting to be of help and fix their problems.
The same tone she'd heard from Luzi over and over when she had her breakdowns.
"..."
"I KNOW! THAT, I WON'T BE MUCH OF AN HELP, BUT PLEASE. I CAN'T JUST STAND AROUND ANYMORE AND LET SOMEONE BE HURT BECAUSE OF ME!"
Isaac opened his tearful eyes, the desperation in his voice implying that something has happened to him before, something he still blames himself for.
She could tell. This, after all, was the same thing that happened to Uzi before she went catatonic and forgot the existence of her children and left weeks after N's death.
V's core squeezed in pain, motherly instincts trying to take over, damn it.. Those same damn eyes Luzi had before, s-she can't just.. She just met this kid for crying out loud.
No, she was literally about to kill him minutes ago. No, she was NOT guilty over someone she just knew.
She was NOT going to let some brat hold her back, she was not the kind of person to.. To.. To...!
'My mom is a hero! She's the best!' 'I just to prove myself to you, mom..' 'Even if you don't think you're a hero, you're a hero to me Momma!'
The words of her daughters rang out in her head.
...
Oh, for the love of god.
Isaac continued to plead for V to bring him with her, his grip was starting to loosen.
"YOU CAN EVEN USE ME AS A SHIELD, JUST TAKE ME WITH-"
"Fine, I'll take you with me."
Isaac looked at her in shock..? No, that was confusion in his face.
"What?"
"I said I'll take you with me kid, as long as you don't get in the way you'll be fine-"
"Wha?!" Isaac called out again.
"What do you mean 'What' you were-" It was V's turn to be confused.
"WHAT?!"
Okay, was the kid messing with her? She'll seriously kill him for making her feel guilty then pulling this kind of stunt.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHAT?! BRAT IF YOU'RE DOING THIS IN PURPOSE I WILL DROP YOU-"
"NO LIKE! I CAN'T HEAR YOU WHAT YOU'RE SAYING! LIKE AT ALL! CAN YOU SLOW DOWN?!"
It was only then that V noticed that she was flying way too fast for Isaac to properly handle things, worker drones were not meant to go at these speeds, except for Uzi who was used to flying via riding N.
No, she meant climbing on his back while he's flying. Not that kind of riding, they only did that in a closed room, yes she used to do it with N and Uzi when they were all still together.
They were married, what?
She slowed down her flight and took hold of Isaac's arm to prevent him from falling to his death, the air resistance slowly disappearing allowing Isaac to calm down a little from the violent washful gale from the speed they were going at.
Isaac could have sworn he saw his life flash before his eyes, not that it should be possible for drones but it seems that it was programmed to them. For some reason .
He was still shaking from shock, that was something he wouldn't have done without his trauma, ironic.
V lifted him by the arm she was holding and looked at him straight at this face.
"I said, I'll take you with me, as long as you don't get in the way." V reaffirmed.
Isaac gleamed with hope, despite the fact he was thousands of meters above ground he couldn't help but feel happy to have someone help him out.
"I-I Promise I won't get in the way! I promise.."
V observed him for a few seconds and let out a sigh.
"I swear, I feel like I'm catching Pokem-or-what's-its-name-again with you depressed brats, you're all always flocking to me for some reason." She said to herself, it was starting to become some kind of running theme for her.
First, she became friends-to-sisters with Uzi, who mind you, was a depressed angsty teenager years ago.
Then Luzi, who this time was also depressed and traumatized, fortunately it was somewhat lessened by V taking up the position as her mother, that didn't change the fact that she was still a depressed teenager with N's personality of being a walking-talking emotional support bear.
Picturing a depressed version of her husband was difficult since he always hid it under a mask of emotions and optimism.
And now, there's this kid she's just met a half an hour ago.
Ugh..
 ++--------------------++
Members of the Worker Drone Force alongside JESSA Security Department team surrounded the entire area of the underground Outpost's West side, all armed with guns and automatic rifles
Meant to bust down any sort of threat that came into their home.
They went from building to building, searching through anything that was out of place or suspicious, evacuating the worker drones away from the area and taking their positions on rooftops of houses.
A ridiculously long security tape was put outside the borders with guards and stations everywhere to prevent anyone from leaving or entering.
One JSD member who had a high-ranking position, Ruther, ordered the others to surround the area where the explosion happened.
"Make sure not a single alley is left unguarded! If this is an Eldritch attack, depending on what class it is, it could pull off anything that might bring harm to the city." Ruther commanded as he held onto his gun.
Things weren't looking so hot, three days ago, the company's stationed squad to guard the inner parts of Gate A-7 that connected to the surface bunker, Outpost 3. Was suddenly wiped out by something.
When the reinforcements were sent to investigate, they were all already dead, seemingly eaten or obliterated.
Marks left by gunshots implied that there was a fight, what was strange was that none of the members didn't even rang the alarm, even the cameras were destroyed.
They also still needed to put lights on that cave-like tunnel inside Gate A-7.
It was only after a day or two that disappearances started to rise one after another, the CEO wished to deal with the problem as quickly as possible while hiding it to prevent a mass panic.
However that didn't seem to be an option right now as there was literally an explosion inside the city, especially on a well-known spot, The Mall. he looked to see a few more reinforcements arriving at the scene.
The whistling sound of something cutting through the air caught Ruther's attention, he looked up and saw their CEO, J, drop down majestically and hid her wings as she walked towards him.
"Ma'am!" He gave a salute to her.
"Report." J demanded.
"Suburban Block 2, Street Mahogany. Was destroyed by the time we arrived here, we didn't see much other than a few explosions coming from the Mall, though we did see some visuals of red lights flickering one after another inside the building." He gave a small summarization of their short findings.
"Red lights..? Was there any Eldritch?"
"Not from what we've seen Ma'am, however the residents say otherwise, they said they saw some 'monstrous drone with animal parts and flesh', It's likely the culprit of this incident."
J took this in and frowned, she was obviously thinking about something by the looks of it.
Ruther stood for a full minute before J snapped out of her thoughts and gave orders.
"Remember to call in Repair Drones(Drones that are well-versed in fixing and healing others) here, call in Meili, but make sure to tell Len to stay in his position."
Ruther answered with a salute and left.
J walked towards where the general populace of her JSD's were currently surrounding the area and to another high-ranking position, a captain.
"Ma'am!" He stopped before her and gave a salute.
"All of you, stay in your positions and wait for my signal, don't attack unless I said so otherwise." J gave out a 'Tsk' as she used her advanced optical calibrations to see through the smoke that was covering the mall, she could see a few flashes of sparks inside the building.
"Understood!" He then left and passed the message to his comrades.
"Shouldn't have ordered most of the Disassembly drones to focus on expeditions outside to look for Oil rigs, Insurance's gonna be bitch on this one." J muttered under her breath, "With Reo's, Elaina and Bort's Squads outside the campus, it's only Meili, Len and I are the only ones left to pick up the mess, V's also outside so that makes things even more difficult."
Before she could think of more problems, she heard the sounds of someone crying out for plea, she turned around and saw a female worker drone being held by a few WDF's, who was seemingly trying to get past the second border of security tapes.
"Please! My daughter is still inside!" The female drone, a mother presumably, begged for them.
J frowned and tuned her voice out, no distractions.
It may seem cold of her but, the protection of the city was a priority over one drone.
She crossed over the security tapes and walked towards the Mall, it was a well-known landspot here after Tessa suggested for one to be made for the Drones, something the populace seemed to like alot.
Before she could even enter the mall, the entrance to it was suddenly blown by something being
Thrown outside.
She covered her face to avoid shrapnels and debris from hitting her face, she then lowered her arm after the impact.
When she heard Ruther's report about 'Red Lights', her thoughts immediately went to one person. At first she thought she'd broken the truce and had gone on some sort of rampage, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Well, considering the fact that it was DOLL who was thrown like a 'ragdoll' (Hah! Get it? Okay she'll stop, she wasn't good at making jokes).
Doll performed some acrobatics mid-air and landed on her feet, her dress completely ragged up with holes and scratches.
On her right arm was a small drone who was holding onto Doll for life, Doll was using her strange not-solver-powers with her left arm.
One thing she noticed besides those was that she was banged up, granted, J just saw her getting thrown outside of the mall like a toy.
Doll's boots created sparks as her landing's acceleration persisted for a few seconds, stopping next to J's right.
"Я оставляю все тебе (I leave things to you.)" Doll said in Russian, her hardened gaze locked on the entrance of the mall before jumping away from danger with the child on her right arm.
J also never left her gaze from the entrance of the mall, interlocked her fingers together and pushed out both of her arms, stretching them.
She removed her office suit's vest and tied its long sleeves around her waist, she then fixed her underneath white shirt before growing an annoyed expression on her face.
"So russian bitch couldn't handle it, it's been a while since i've fought and I'm quite curious of WHO or WHAT you are." J stopped stretching and locked gazes with the disgusting abomination standing at the destroyed entrance of the mall. "After all, you might have some information regarding the existence of whatever you all are, and what's your connection to the solver."
Clawdreroff, who was growling. Gave out a roar and widened its stance, preparing to pounce on J with its abnormally long claws.
"Ŗ̵̢̭̘̩̟̔͐̑̑̀͗̀́̽̈́̐̾̄̽̔̊̕ͅĒ̶̬̱͕͎̘͇̥̖̦͖̓Ẹ̵̙̘͔̯̜̯͈͕̹͋̾͐̀̍͛͒̾̃͋͘E̶̡̡̗͙̤̩̼͇͓͚̲̙͋̇̓́͑́̆̔͗̎̊͂̓̀͘͘͜͠E̷͖̋͝Ẻ̷̢̡̢͖̳͓̖̖̤͍̹̜̻̪͍̏̅̇́̀͆͂̚͜͝E̴̝͙̼͒̌̈́̏̍̿̐́͌̑́̈́͊͑̾̃͝Ę̷̢̤͎̥̪̣̦̳͒̈́̓̇̓̒̽̏͋̚̕͜E̶̛̙̖̩͓̗̻̰̭͚̲̲͖̓̋͂̏͑̋́̍̓͜"
"Unfortunately, since you attacked us while I was in the middle of doing paperwork, I'll be going Overtime." She mocked the thing, completely confident in her abilities.
'No need to probably wait for Meili, depending on what this thing is and the size of it, it's just some weird small weakling of an Eldritch. The russian woman hasn't fought for years so that's why she probably lost.'
"Bring it, you Berserker rip-off."
Clawdreroff jumped with intense furiosity and brought its claws out, ready to start the rumble with J.
