'Plop.'
Natsu and Gray both fell down simultaneously. Everit caught one with each hand, and then two loud snores echoed in their ears.
"Stupid Everit," Natsu mumbled in his sleep, throwing a punch at Everit's face.
Everit set the two people down and glanced over at Erza, Lucy, and the others. He was about to take out the potion and distribute it to everyone, but suddenly he remembered something and paused.
"Wendy."
"What are you going to do?!"
As soon as he turned around and shouted, Carla positioned herself in front of Wendy, eyeing Everit with suspicion, as though he were about to steal her flower pot.
"Uh," Everit was at a loss.
What was up with this cat? He hadn't done anything to offend her, yet it felt like Carla was more afraid of him than anyone else in the guild, almost as if he had played a lot of pranks on her.
"I mean, Wendy's magic is more effective than my potion. Please heal everyone," Everit explained.
Potions, after all, could never match the high level healing magic.
"Oh, okay," Wendy said, nodding and quickly moving to tend to everyone.
"By the way, should we ewally not be concerned about Nirvana?" Lucy asked.
"Nirvana stopped moving a while ago," Erza replied. "It only shifted a little at the start."
Earlier, her mind had been chaotic, filled with thoughts of Jellal, Everit, how to defeat the Oración Seis, and more.
But thinking back, it seemed that Nirvana had indeed ceased its movement some time ago.
"Well, I'll handle it from here. Once we leave, I'll destroy the magic crystal. I don't want anyone with ulterior motives getting their hands on it in the future," Everit said.
Everyone felt reassured by this.
Wendy glanced at Everit, and Carla quickly moved to block her view.
Wendy was taken aback. Carla treated her like a naive child, but she was already 13 and had some understanding of these matters.
However, it was clear that she held no such thoughts about Mr. Everit. She was simply very grateful and admired him, seeing him as a brother.
Mr. Everit treated her just like Jellal in her memories, Mystogan—very gentle and caring.
"Mr. Everit," Wendy called out.
"Hmm?" Everit glanced at her.
"So, Mr. Everit actually defeated the Oración Seis and Jellal," Wendy said.
Everit looked at Wendy's innocent eyes, shook his head, and replied, "How could that be possible? However, my magic is quite special, so it's hard for others to catch me."
Of course, he couldn't admit the truth.
"Oh," Wendy said, nodding but still doubtful.
Erza looked at Everit with a complex expression.
Have you grown to this extent?
But when Erza thought about the situation back then, her conclusion was: Tiffany and Everit must have defeated the Oración Seis and Jellal together.
In fact, Lucy, Gray, and Happy shared the same belief.
After all, Tiffany is incredibly powerful, not weaker than Erza. However, she hasn't been seen since the start of the battle, and her magic can track Everit's true body.
So the truth should be:
Tiffany arrived while Everit was battling the Oración Seis.
Then, they teamed up to defeat the Oración Seis and Jellal.
Tiffany who was defeated by Brain was fake, and she vanished when Everit appeared.
What likely happened next was that after defeating the Oración Seis and Jellal, Tiffany was severely injured and Everit arranged for her to leave.
And old habits die hard. Despite being able to handle everything, Everit still enjoyed playing games with everyone.
It makes sense to think this way.
If Erza and the others were to accept that Everit could defeat the Oración Seis and Jellal head-on, it would be more plausible to believe that Everit could take on Laxus, Gildarts, and Guild Master Makarov directly.
Tiffany's abilities in direct combat are formidable, and Erza wouldn't even dare to claim she could withstand a few of Tiffany's strikes.
Her fists, combined with Everit's magic, could easily defeat Jellal just like how Natsu and Gray would.
Even though Everit didn't say anything, Erza and the others thought they had uncovered the truth.
However, even if two people worked together, this record seemed exaggerated.
According to Everit's thinking, he didn't want to be in the spotlight, so he orchestrated a series of events to create the "fact" that they had defeated the Oración Seis.
He would make comments like, "If you become famous, you'll be targeted," "If you're strong, you'll face challengers," "I'm a fragile person; what if I get ambushed by an old pervert?" He would come up with all kinds of excuses to avoid being in the limelight.
Lucy noticed this pattern, from the Eisenwald to the Tower of Heaven, from the War to Phantom Lord, and even to Ahhanita Town.
Clearly, Everit was key to defeating the enemy, but the news reports always highlighted Natsu, Gray, Erza, and the others.
Everit was often described as "powerful marginal support," "excellent in command and combat tactics," or "the next Fairy Tactician."
It was as if he were someone like Volian, who could only use his telepathic abilities, watch a real-time projected map from a distance, and then act as a remote commander.
But ultimately, this was Everit's choice.
So, no one said anything and respected his decision.
As for being set up to fight, did it make them angry?
They were used to it.
They were really used to it.
Not just Natsu and the others, even Lucy had become accustomed to it.
And, as Natsu said, if this is what Everit prefers, then everyone should accommodate him.
With Everit's support, fighting could enhance his strength. All in all, it was a rare benefit for him.
Everyone rested for a while.
Wendy restored some of everyone's health and mana.
Then Erza carried Gray on her back, and Lucy carried Natsu on hers.
Seeing Lucy walking as steadily as Erza, Wendy couldn't help but comment, "Ms. Lucy is really strong."
Lucy offered a bitter smile.
Being praised like this made her feel conflicted. After the battle with Angel, she realized there was a significant difference in physical fitness between herself and ordinary girls.
She had truly become a girl with extraordinary strength, and it was only going to grow in the future. It was difficult to describe exactly how she felt; in the end, it was... quite complicated.
Her wry smile carried a hint of helplessness, reflecting her acceptance of reality.
"Carla," Happy noticed that it was always the girls carrying the boys.
He approached Carla and said with a tired expression, "Well, I'm tired too."
"Hmph," Carla snorted proudly, turning around and pulling Wendy away.
"Hahaha——" Lucy couldn't help but laugh.
"Happy, oh, I mean, Mr. Cat Dragon," Everit said with a smile, "When pursuing girls, you need to do what is appropriate for each stage. It's too early for you and Carla."
"Then help me!" Happy flew up, landing on Everit's shoulder. "Just like you helped Natsu."
Lucy blushed immediately as she recalled the incident of carrying someone on her back.
It was Everit who spoke for the first time. From then on, whenever she was on a mission and had used up a lot of energy, even if she still had the strength to walk, Natsu would naturally carry her on his back.
Today was the first time she had carried Natsu on her back, and it seemed like they had developed some sort of tacit understanding and habit.
Lucy turned her head and saw Erza's face with a knowing smile, which made her feel instantly embarrassed.
