Capítulo 16: chapter 16
"Why the hell was I left with lin, what happened between them that made lin and Tenzin split up even with me" I said then she replied "Quite bold aren't you, lin and tenzin came to an agreement, if you were an airbender you would be told that tenzin was your father and you would live with him, if you were a non-bender or an earth bender you would not be told who your father was until you were 20, I didn't like it but I wasn't the parent, the reason for their separation was because lin never wanted any kids but tenzin was the last Airbender so he needed to have kids and also lin suspected tenzin was cheating"
"That's deep" I said walking away but then she replied "you know I was married by the time I was your age" , she should've said lore drop before she said that. I went into the city and got some food to eat, I found bolin and ate with him. I may have been messing with him and making sure that he wasn't happy but I still liked him as a person.
He spoke "korra is being taken to the south pole by unalaq you wanna come, it's gonna be dangerous though" I nodded and said "sure I'll come" we went to varrick and got some special snow suits and snowmobiles.
Then we rode off towards where bolon said they were, we pulled up right next to korra, mako, and Asami. Unalaq saw the approaching tonraq and said annoyed "Tonraq what for you want" and the fast walking tonraq said "I heard your taking korra to the south pole, I'm coming"
Unalaq said resolutely "absolutely NOT, your a distraction to korra and a hindering to what needs to be done" "My daughter is not going without me she need someone to watch after her" tonraq replied
Korra, Asami, and mako rode up next to the arguing brothers then korra spoke "Dad, why do you always think you know what's best for me?" Unalaq answered for tonraq "because he's misguided, the sad truth is it's men like your father who have put the spirit world out of balance, hes ingroned my warning in the past and hasnt learned since"
Korra said confused "what happened in that past" and tonraq said "it doesn't matter, what matters is the everstorm" korra said which surprised me "the everstorm" she has lived in the south pole almost her entire life and soesnt know.
"The everstorm, it's a massive blizzard that's battered the south pole for decades, anyways I'm coming unless you think you can stop me" tonraq said fiercely then stared into unalaq's eyes and unlaq glared back.
Me and bolin were just sitting there watching, then korra said "I'm going whether your coming goes not dad" she whipped naga's reigns and they started moving.
Then the goth twins walked over to me and esna said "does this sidecar have the capacity for two passengers" "it does" I answered and then the I cut my wrists at night twins hooped in.
We drove for hours and hours, we left in the morning and now the sun was setting. We came to a small cliff and korra asked unalaq "you will open the ancient spirit portal"
I heard this and said using some knowledge fron my past life "hold up, isn't the Harmonic Convergence soon, with a spirit portal open during the Harmonic Convergence, the world will be flooded with spirits and spirit energy, this is not a good idea"
Unalaq glared at me then said with a fake smile "she'll close it in time" in the distance a massive storm raged on it touched the Heaven's and was a ghostly green.
Nag started growling at the mist which cleared and we saw a trio of dark spirits just staring us down with their beady yellow eyes. We all moved on then found a little hole in the side of an ice cliff to set up our camp.
Mako started a fire from the peices of fire wood we brought. We had some chats around the fire it was a good vibe, then tonraq started the story of how he was banished from.the northern water tribe, reluctantly of course "20 years ago I was a general in the northern water tribe sworn to protect my people, I received word that we were being attacked by raiders, I rode into the city with my men and defended my home, I drove them out of the city and into the deep tundra, we tracked them deep into and ancient forest, many believed it was the home of spirits and the barbarians retreated there because they thought we wouldn't attack on such hollowed grounds, they thought wrong"
Tonraq took a break from speaking about his story then he started again "we flooded them, Then captured them in their disoriented state, but in the process we destroyed the forest, I didn't realize the consequences of what I had done, in destroying the forest I had unknowingly let loose angry spirits, they attacked the northern water tribe and threatened to destroy the entire city, unalaq was able to guide the spirits back to the forest but by then the damage had already been done, for being the case of so much devastation my father banished me from the northern water tribe in shame, that's where I started my new life"
Then bolin said something extremely insensitive "oh, so you were supposed to be chief, but then he became chief, no wonder you guys don't like each other" Mako elbowed bolin.
Then korra said "I can't believe you kept this from me" tonraq replied "I was protecting you from the shame I brought on the family"
"Why do you keep hiding things from me then saying it's for my own protection"
They argued for a few minutes more then we rested, the sky was constantly dark because the everstorm blocked the sun. We got up and started back on our journey, some spirits jumped us and stole our supplies.
I'm pretty much useless in this environment because the earth is far down below and it takes a while for me to get it up to the surface. Mosaic might be able to hurt the spirits but I didn't wanna risk him accidentally hitting one of my allies.
Mako stared at the place where our supplies once were then said "all of our supplies were stolen, what are we gonna do now" tonraq the buzzkill said "there's only one thing letting to do, we have to turn back"
Then unalaq insisted that we keep going "No, the solstice is tonight we're so close this mission is too dangerous" then korra who was just mad dogging her father said "No, dad, your leaving"
Tonraq left on one of the snowmobiles and we continued too truck through the snow, actually our pack animals trucked through the snow and we rode on them. Me and the goth twins rode on the remaining snowmobile, mako and bolin rode on one of the camel things.
We found the south pole after hours of riding, it was a forest of dead trees covered in an ice maze. "Trees frozen in ice" korra said and I responded "What else is it a pile of shit"
Unalaq gave me a glance then said to korra "it's just like the scared forest tonraq destroyed in the north" then korra asked "so what do I do"
"You must find your way to the heart if the forest, where the dormant spirit portal lies from here you're on your own" unalaq said then mako asked concerned about korra "wait a second, there's n o way she's going alone"
Bolin interrupted when he shouldn't and "yeah if she goes we go too" I gave my piece of mind "the avatar should decide her own path, we should not interfere with her decisions, freedom is the best thing a man or women can achieve and no one has ever achieved them but they can try so we should let her get a shot at freedom"
"Jojo is right, the avatar must go alone" unalaq said, korra walked closer to unalaq then looked up at him and said "I don't have a godd connection with the spirits in fact it seems like they hate me"
Unalaq gave some words of encouragement "korra all of the past avatars live on inside of you, let them guide you, let them help you find the light in the dark"
"Wait here I'll be ok" korra said as the crispy white snow crunched under her feet. We watched the frozen forest and waited foe korra, I had no fear because she would survive this I was sure of that.
The sky lit up with a green wavy light, korra was successful, yay who could've known shoe wouldnt die.
