Capítulo 8: Chapter Eight: Tea and Treachery.

"The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies but from those you trust"

-Unknown

"We've located her, your majesty," the messenger informed King Cyprus.

"Where is she?" he asked with curiosity, eager for more information.

"She is currently in the territory of the werewolves," the messenger reported.

"What?!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with surprise, disbelief, and anger.

"But that's not all... she's also the mate to the Prince of the pack," the messenger added, causing King Cyprus's eyes to widen in astonishment.

"This is not good... If she's currently hitched with the Prince of the enemies, I have to retrieve her myself," he said, deep in contemplation.

"But your majesty... You can't leave the kingdom bare and go out to the werewolves' territory all by yourself. It's too dangerous," one of his chieftains advised.

"Yes, your majesty... At least take some guards or your generals with you," another chieftain added, concerned for his safety.

"It's my daughter we're talking about here. I can't take any risks. I'll go alone. It's final," King Cyprus declared, determined to rescue his daughter no matter the cost.

"Summon Marcus," the Alpha commanded Chief Silas, who stood before him in the grand throne room.

"I'm afraid he might be out," Chief Silas began to say, but his words were cut short as Marcus walked in, surprising them all.

"I'm here, father," Marcus stated confidently, his cheerful and happy demeanor contrasting with his usual morning disposition.

"Good morning, father," Marcus added with a cheerful tone, further perplexing the Alpha. This was unlike the Marcus he knew, who harbored deep resentment and never addressed him as father.

"Good morning, Uncle," Marcus greeted the chief, who nodded in response.

Despite feeling that something was off with his son's behavior, the Alpha cleared his throat and proceeded to address the matter at hand.

"There have been traces of witches in our territory last night. We need to tighten our defense," he stated, his voice filled with concern and agility.

Marcus's mind immediately went back to the previous night. He recalled feeling uneasy and sensing that he was being watched.

"Why are they back?" Marcus questioned, his curiosity piqued.

"I have no idea," the Alpha replied honestly.

"Perhaps Marcus and I should venture to the outskirts later to see if we can find any clues about their intentions," Chief Silas offered, suggesting a plan of action.

"That's a good idea. I fully support it," the Alpha agreed, acknowledging the value of their proposed investigation.

"Blair has been gone since last night," Madam Eunice overheard Lyka whisper to another maid while they were gossiping.

Madam Eunice pretended not to hear and tried to concentrate on her tasks.

"Hey, you two! Why are you just standing around? Go find something to do!" she commanded, trying to distract herself from what she had just heard.

They were startled and quickly left the kitchen to find something to keep themselves occupied.

Madam Eunice couldn't help but wonder about Blair. "Where is she? What's going on with her? Did the Chief get his hands on her?" she pondered.

Suddenly, she remembered the prince asking about Blair's whereabouts the previous night. "Did he manage to find her?" she wondered. Determined to get some answers, she decided to visit the Prince and inquire about Blair.

"Good morning, my Prince," she greeted as she arrived at his chambers.

"Morning, ma'am," he greeted, surprisingly with a smile. Madam Eunice was taken aback by his sudden departure from his usual arrogance. She couldn't help but smile at the thought that love was clearly working its magic in his life. It's amazing how love can transform a person, isn't it?

"Come on in," he offered, extending an invitation.

Reluctantly, she stepped inside.

"I actually came here to ask you about her whereabouts. Did you find her last night?" Madam Eunice inquired.

"You mean Blair, right? I certainly did," he replied.

"Where did you find her?" she questioned again, her curiosity growing.

"That's not important right now. The most important thing is that she's safe," he responded, his tone serious.

"Didn't you bring her back?" she asked, hoping for a different answer.

"No, I didn't. You're aware she's my mate, right?" he questioned, his eyes searching for understanding.

She nodded, comprehending the connection between them.

"She needs to stay away from this palace for a while because of the evil lurking around," he stated, his voice filled with concern.

"I'll tell you where she is," he whispered, leaning closer to Madam Eunice and sharing the location of Blair.

"Make sure you don't tell anyone about it, and if I'm not back on time, you can go check up on her," he instructed her, emphasizing the importance of keeping it a secret.

"Are you going somewhere?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.

"You saw the colored split moon last night. The witches are back. I'm going on an expedition with the Chief to find out why they've returned," he patiently explained, revealing the reason behind his departure.

"Are you alright?" he asked, noticing the displeased look on her face, which snapped her out of her thoughts.

"Y-yes... I'm... fine," she managed to say, her words stumbling out.

The Prince chose to ignore her expression, not wanting to delve deeper and waste time.

"I'm counting on you to take care of Blair while I'm away," he added, entrusting her with the task.

He couldn't help but think of Nick. Normally, he would have assigned this responsibility to him, but Nick wouldn't be available during this time. It was clearly the sorcerers' monthly gathering.

"Yes, my Prince," she replied, bowing respectfully.

"Did you send the tea to him?" Silas inquired, his voice filled with anticipation.

"Yes, sire," Patrick replied, his tone confident.

"Perfect!" Silas exclaimed, a wide grin spreading across his face.

"The Prince's demise awaits him today," he murmured to himself, a sinister smile playing on his lips.

"Watch me complete the task which you've failed to do so all this time," he taunted Patrick, his smirk evident.

Just then, Princess Olivia entered the room. Knowing his role as a mere bodyguard, Patrick excused himself and left them alone to discuss.

"What brings you here, Princess?" he asked, his smile clearly fake.

"I heard you and the Prince are going out," she began.

"You heard right," he responded, grinning.

"What's your plan?" she asked hastily.

He burst into laughter, scratching his chin in amusement.

"Aren't you just a little nosy, Princess?" he said, faking another laugh.

"Know your limits, Princess," he warned, his tone suddenly serious.

"I want... you... to... kill... him," she said, forcing the words out.

Silas, surprised but not wanting to show it, let out a laugh.

"That sounds like my plan and something I want to hear," he said, still chuckling evilly.

"If I can't have him, no one else will," Princess Olivia whispered to herself with anguish.

"There's a problem, Your Majesty," the sorcerer cried out to King Cyprus.

"What is it this time?!" the King asked, clearly exhausted and impatient.

"We can't trace her anymore!" the sorcerer replied, bowing his head.

"Why?!" King Cyprus questioned angrily as he abruptly rose from his throne.

"It's because she is someone's mate," the sorcerer replied, his voice trembling.

"To find her, one must first find her mate in order to reach her, unless they are together," he added, attempting to calm the King's anger.

"So I have to find the Prince first to find my daughter?" King Cyprus thundered.

The sorcerer nodded, bowing his head in fear of the King's wrath.

"Get me my horse. I'm leaving to search for the Prince," he declared, stepping down from his throne.

"Are you really going to the werewolf kingdom alone?" a chieftain asked, causing him to pause.

"That would be extremely dangerous, Your Majesty," another chieftain added, while the rest whispered among themselves, nodding in agreement.

"Take care of the kingdom in my absence," he told them, ignoring their pleas, and walked out.
