Capítulo 5: Template, Tower and Dungeons
"Bro, you have to hold your shit this time round, because what I am about to say would result in you pooping your pants in excitement. I mean you are a baby, but still, you can try at least" Jeff said to me excitedly. I made a hand gesture for him to continue.
"All right here we go baby, first of all, this planet is also named Earth, and it is the year 2000 here, but it has some minor and major differences in history like in Titanic this time around Rose drowned instead of Jack, they even did an interview on him where he said that Rose just wanted him for his body. So, when it was her turn to get on the wooden door, he didn't let her.
Other than that, there was a Newton mix-up here. When I first heard that there was no Newton here, I tried to search for him on the computer but he wasn't present in this history. Either he was not born on this Earth or he never saw an apple in his life. Well, 25 years later a German scientist named Kitzler accidentally knocked out the bear he was fighting. That's when he started to question why the bear fell instead of going up. It's the same as Newton.
There were minor changes like these all around the world. I mean Donald Trump is black on this Earth. There are many famous people from our earth but there are many from this new earth as well. Like I was saying Eminem is not a rapper this time around. I don't know where he is, but I'm going to find him and make him rap. Also, there are no same movies, songs, anime, or any other creation of our earth here for that matter. And about the song Dad was playing, I will get to that in a minute.
Well, now we come to the most significant and major change on this Earth, 22 years ago a tower appeared in outer space on Earth. It was the same size as the moon. Because of the sudden supernatural phenomenon, people started freaking out. I mean humans are the most afraid of the unknown. If we don't know what that is then how do we deal with it? For a year nothing happened. People started to think of it as some kind of silly prank from God. But these were a minority, religious people prayed to their gods, and scientific people attributed it to some kind of otherworldly invasion. Sure, the steam was still hot after a year but the gossip slowly started to quieten down. It became a common thing for the people to see the tower in the sky. We can say that humans surely are adaptable creatures, they forget easily, and they make mistakes but this is what makes them unique." I looked at Jeff and started yelling at him to get to the point. He always goes into story mode whenever he gets a chance.
"All right, I will continue, don't need to nag like that. So where was I, after a year, in 1979; a change occurred, a change so big that it will remain in the anils of history even if humans go extinct. Everybody on Earth above the age of 17, started to see a blue screen telling them to choose a profession. These professions were the same existing professions on earth like doctors, scientists, martial artists, or musicians. All were given a choice, even if you already have an existing profession, you could choose a new one starting at that moment. Then they were given a test according to their age and the profession they chose. Like a fighter has to fight a martial artist or something. Musicians will have a singing competition or karaoke. Many thought it was the intervention of some god, and scientists thought it of some kind of high-class tech by aliens. Still, many reckless fools started choosing professions. A boxer even thought it was some kind of joke and chose maid as a profession. Well, I will tell you he is a waiter now. He can still box but others that were below him have gone way above him now. Because of the test, only the minority (those who had put hard work into their profession or were just talented) passed the test, resulting in 20% of the world's population becoming Templers. There is no need to be an expert in that particular subject. You just have to be a little above average.
You see when we choose these professions, we also get a choice to choose a template corresponding to that particular profession. But this choice is random for people here. You see all the anime, shows, or comics here are not adapted into the templates. So, the template they get to choose is only by seeing the name, they don't know anything about it except what weapon they use. Sure, some families out there tell their kids about their templates so they already know what to expect from these templates. So, when that boxer chose a cleaner profession, he also got a choice to choose from various templates in the cleaner category. He took it as a joke and chose to ignore it. I mean who would in the right mind choose a maid as an occupation over boxing where he gets all the money, family, and other things? Well for a year it didn't bother him much. But after a year he saw that other boxers who were weaker than him got better, so much better that he started losing against the weak ones. That's when the government officially notified all the citizens that the templates, they got at starting were the basics of the basics. They gave templates with different rankings from E to A.
Let me give you an example in the fighter category, a fighter can be using a weapon, bare fists, or any other thing as a weapon. Also, the Fighter profession doesn't mean that you would only get martial arts or physical templates, you may get magical, mutant, or any other supernatural templates out of your wildest possibility. Once you have completed 70% of the template, you get a chance to choose your next template. But this is usually chosen by those who take too much time at that level. People with talent would choose to complete that template fully because you get the whole skill set of that person. Also, you get a treasure chest at 50% and 100% completion of the template, it can be in the kind of physical or some other kind of reward of the chosen template. Like a person getting Kakashi's battle experience or his sword when he fully completes the template. Or a musician with a template of Marvin Gaye getting his album or a song as a reward. Templates mean getting skills and not the achievements of that person. You get what I'm saying.
Also, you get two screens after your first template. for example, you choose a swordsman as your first template then you get two screens when choosing your next template, one only for swordsman and the other for the other fighter categories. This makes it so if a swordsman wants to remain a swordsman, he can choose from the swordsman category otherwise he can go to the other category where everything is random
Let's take Tyler as an example. He has just turned 15 and wants to become a fighter
1. At Level E Templer is a fighter with some skills and some fighting experience. He is a black belt dan 1. He could be a boxer but not near the top. – like Jake Paul if you are unlucky
2. Level D Templer is a fighter with master level (Dan 5) in any martial arts. He is a fairly experienced fighter. He is reaching the top but not there yet, - like Jackie Chan
3. Level C Templer is a fighter with Peak human-level skills or physique. This peak was before humans got into this template game. Well, let's say the peak looks a lot different now. For level C we have people like Bruce Lee or Muhammad Ali from our Earth
4. Level B Templer is a fighter who has gone to a superhuman level. This type of category gets you the marine captain rank (One Piece) of power. – like Arlong or Daz Bonez (Dice Dice Fruit)
5. Level A Templer is a fighter who has gone fully into the realm of powers, If earlier was just borderline superhuman then now it's fully superhuman like beta-level mutants with low powers or rear admiral level of power in one piece. Like Yujiro Hanma and Yoriichi.
We don't know anything above Level A because the maximum a human has reached till now is Level A. But I'm sure we will eventually see greater heights together
And we also got a big advantage due to this system. You see people here randomly choose for their next template but you and I know bits and pieces from our Earth. You watched anime and I read comics. We can decide on our future, on which template to choose. You must also be curious that if fighters are so OP, then why would anybody choose any other profession? That's what people did, they started to choose fighters in mass when they got to know supernatural stuff they could do, but this is where talent came into play. Out of all the people who chose fighter as their profession only 40% reached Level C template and only 15% reached Level B. Also, there are less than 300 level (A) Templers in the world right now with no one above that. That's when the government started talent programs. Kids nowadays go through school and get to try out all professions at least once. They still get to choose their future profession but at least they know what they can better progress in. 10 years ago a Chinese singer became Level B Templer in the musician category. This resulted him in getting a character with musical powers. He made some kind of sound slashes. He is a level A now. This again increased a frenzy in people as they got to become powerful with their choice of profession. But still, some stubborn people would choose a profession they are not good at, you can say it's their passion or they are just plain crazy.
Also if you get a template with many talents like you are an actor and get Jackie Chan then you will also get his martial skills with it. But it makes it harder sometimes as you have to focus on two things at once.
Well, this is all about the templates I know, next is the Tower itself."
Wow, that was too much to process but I think I have pooped my pants in excitement. Man, this world is much more fun than I thought it would be. It's like an anime or all-fiction and nonfiction mashup. I already know what profession I'm taking. Other than that, oh boy would it be fun to go on adventures in this new world? I sure hope that Sam and Nathan also reincarnate. Then we could have much more fun here than we could ever hope on Earth. While I was lost in my mind, Jeff said to me
"Ethan you still listening bro, I know it's a long story. We can continue later if you want" I gestured with my hand for him to continue with the story. If he stops now then that would be a crime.
"The tower is an entity without consciousness of its own" I stopped Jeff there while making a 'How do you know' gesture with my hands
"Oh, it came with the manual" I again made the 'What Manual' gesture.
"Mom bought me a toy tower at the store and it came with a manual saying it does not have self-computation capability" Oh it makes sense. I gave him a thumbs-up in response. (They both are a bit dumb)
"So where was I, yeah, the tower is an entity without consciousness of its own. It has three main functions: -
1. Shows the status panel to the Templer and blocks other Templers from seeing it
2. It has challenge floors from 1 to (?). Challengers can challenge these floors to get a mystery box as a reward. Challenger will get graded in stars according to how he performs and each challenger will only get 3 chances to complete a level. If he fails more than three times then he can't continue to challenge the tower.
3. After the appearance of the tower, the dungeons also started to appear. These dungeons are different world portals. It's just they close after you complete the mission. There are various kinds of dungeons with different missions. One could be defeating a goblin while the other could solving a murder case in the anime world of Conan. There are various kinds of dungeons and each gives rewards according to the tier of dungeon and the world it is based on. For example, you get a Doraemon World dungeon with tier C and a mission to go into the past and get a T-Rex egg. The reward can be the egg or a gadget of Doraemon.
Well, this pretty much sums it up. These are all the little shenanigans happening in our world right now. Man, I wish to be 15 right now" Jeff said.
That was long but still, this world is freaking awesome. I thought I would only get superpowers which is already satisfactory, but no the tower had to do it. Now we can visit different worlds and don't forget about the dungeons. I can't wait to grow up. Unconsciously saliva started to drip out of my mouth thinking about all the epic adventures I am going to have.
