Song Yangyao's POV:
I stood frozen in place, a maelstrom of humiliation and rage churning inside me as Huang Yanyan strutted away, having so brazenly revealed the truth that my mother Chen Xinyi had purchased her as an infant to pass off as her own.
As the full weight of Huang Yanyan's damning exposure sank in, I could feel the piercing stares and murmurs rippling across the cafeteria. Dozens of judgemental eyes boring into me, realizing the sordid lengths my disgraced mother had stooped to in her desperate bid to entrap my father through deception.
My cheeks burned with shame as the hushed whispers reached my ears. Out of the corners of my eyes, I could see the looks of shock, revulsion and mockery etching across the aristocratic features of my ostensible 'peers'. The elites who had always looked down on my mother's lowly roots now had vindication to reject us completely.
