Malissa jumped into Bel's arms, and Bel wrapped her arms around her as she smiled. "Malissa," she called.
Malissa pulled away, grabbing Bel's shoulders as she stared at her face. "How are you? How was it? What happened?" The young woman badgered her with questions.
"Malissa!" Bel called sternly, trying to snap her out of it. "I will tell you all about it once we settle in." Malissa nodded and fell into step with her.
The servants led them to the dining space. Bel was grateful it wasn't the hall, which meant most of the guests were gone. She doubted she could deal with anyone who wasn't family right now. Maybe it was a good thing she was locked up for the whole day.
Bel walked into the dining room first with Malissa on her heels. Malissa said something Bel couldn't hear, and just as she was about to turn and ask her to repeat what she said, her eyes caught an unexpected figure.
