Capítulo 28: Chapter 28: Mutant Bear
The next day, after exiting my Mindscape, I wasted no time sliding from my spot between the boulders and set out in search of prey. The silence of the forest was my only companion as I moved through the densely packed trees, which made the darkness almost pitch black. However, this was not much of an issue for me due to my dark vision.
Although it proved beneficial, as I was able to see all the creatures that scurried around in the darkness, thinking they were obscured. I observed all manner of small critters, whether it be the regular rabbits or elusive foxes. Though they were all in sight, they were not the only ones hiding. Large mutated insects also lurked around, though they did not pose much of a threat as they were crushed beneath my attacks like the bugs they were.
"Where on earth are the real beast?" I asked, voicing my question aloud as I moved through the landscape of the dark forest. Occasionally, bugs attempted to attack me, but I swiftly crushed them, leaving behind frozen statues of large bugs that marked my path as I ventured deeper into the forest for the next 30 minutes.
'FINALLY!' I exclaimed my mind full of excitement as I reached the river, immediately noticing its green hue, indicating that it was polluted with ooze. However, my attention was quickly drawn to the large, towering beast on the opposite side of the river.
It was a bear, its body twisted and mutated by the ooze. It now bore many strange, bone-like growths all over its body. Standing at a terrifying four meters in height, it was quite intimidating.

The newfound information I gained initially filled me with worry, but as soon as I laid eyes on the note, confidence surged within me. With determination, I immediately allocated all the points from my previous level-up, yet to be distributed, to agility. I prepared to launch my attack, strategically concealing my backpack a short distance away, behind some trees.
'Alright, let's go!' With my mind set, I returned immediately to the riverbank where the bear still lingered, drinking from the polluted waters. It finally took note of my presence as it raised its head, halting its actions abruptly. With a resounding roar, it attempted to intimidate me, but to no avail. Undeterred, I began to wade through the shallow waters of the river towards the bear.
It seemed to interpret my approach as a challenge, for it responded by charging towards me with thunderous force. As it barreled towards me, water splashed around wildly, reminiscent of an unstoppable train on its path to crush me.
I barely needed to exert myself to dodge the charging bear. With a swift activation of [Frost Strike: Lv2] at my feet, I froze the water, providing a solid foothold just in time to evade the beast's rampage. As it thundered past the spot where I had previously stood, I gracefully descended back into the river, my gaze locked on the slowing bear.
Without hesitation, I launched myself towards the bear, activating [Frost Strike: Lv2] once more. With a decisive kick to its hind leg, a burst of icy energy erupted, causing the bear to roar in agony as frost began to encase the wounded limb. Undeterred by its pain, the bear turned to face me, its massive paw swiping through the air. Swiftly, I leaped backward, narrowly avoiding the lethal strike as the bear brought its entire form to bear(^-^) against me.
Its attacks proved to be as formidable as the information suggested, striking with terrifying strength and demonstrating a frightening level of durability. Despite unleashing dozens of [Frost Strikes: Lv2], the bear seemed to shrug off my assaults effortlessly. Each retaliatory strike it delivered left massive craters in the ground, uprooting trees and sending dirt flying through the air. Fortunately, its sheer size and sluggish movements worked to my advantage, allowing me to deftly dodge just out of range of its ferocious swipes and gnashing bites, each of which came perilously close to claiming my head.
Persistently, I focused my efforts on whittling down its offensive capabilities and mobility, targeting its weaker legs. Slowly but surely, I began to chip away at its strength, exploiting the vulnerabilities in its otherwise formidable form.
At a critical juncture, the bear succumbed to the relentless assault, its massive frame unable to support its own weight any longer. With a thunderous crash, it collapsed to the ground, rendered helpless, its limbs now useless. Seizing the opportunity, I methodically closed in, determined to finish the job.
As the bear lay prone, its once-mighty roars reduced to feeble growls, I took my time, ensuring the kill was deliberate and certain. Despite its futile struggles, it could do nothing to resist as I delivered the final blow. With a resounding confirmation, I heard the long-awaited notification, signaling the completion of the task.
