Capítulo 24: New Theory

Thea could only grab his hair, noticing that this guy's hairstyle was quite distinctive, resembling a trident attached to his head. There was a sharp antenna-like protrusion in the middle of his head, with stubborn hair growing in reverse on both sides. Looking at his hair, it even emitted a green light in the forest. Thea felt that he must have applied a lot of heavy metal products in there!

'So devious, trying to poison me!' After searching for a while, Thea was frustrated to find no vulnerable spot on his entire head. For her own safety, she had to switch from judo to taekwondo.

A kick to the knee forced him into a kneeling position, followed by a kick to the lower back. Thea held back, as a direct hit to the spine with her current strength would leave him bedridden for life. Nevertheless, the force of this kick was not light either; it would likely cause kidney damage and spleen rupture.

Two moves brought down one idiot, leaving two to react. One of them made a decent street fighting gesture, raising his right fist high as if to yell "take my punch!" The other one irritated Thea a bit; he actually approached her with a lewd hug gesture.

This guy definitely had no good intentions. Thea regretted not starting with archery, as this guy was going to dirty her shoes!

These were new shoes she had just bought a few days ago!

She dodged the second guy and, in his incredulous gaze, kicked the lewd guy's right cheek. Following up with left and right kicks, she then delivered a low kick, followed by a high kick to the lewd guy's chin with a forceful "crack" sound. The impact was so great that his chin probably shattered, and his neck and collarbone would also be affected to varying degrees.

The last remaining idiot, seeing his two companions lying unconscious, realized his precarious situation and quickly turned to run back the way they came.

Thea wouldn't let him escape. With such a big target facing away from her, it would be a waste not to shoot an arrow! It was also a good opportunity to test her archery skills. She picked up the bow and arrow from the ground, drew the bow, and shot without aiming, relying on her intuition.

The arrow flew at lightning speed, like a bolt of lightning in the jungle. This guy hadn't done anything too excessive, at least not disgusting her, so she aimed for his calf. With proper treatment, he would be able to walk with crutches in three months!

Applause sounded in her ears, "Clap, clap." Malcolm was still dressed in his Dark Archer attire, and he said hoarsely, "Well done. It seems you've learned almost everything I taught you. But why didn't you kill them? They're not good people, and aren't you afraid they'll seek revenge in the future?"

Since she guessed he was trying to test her, Thea had been pondering this question. To kill or not to kill has always been an eternal theme in various American and Japanese comics, and this theme could be discussed for three days and three nights. Most heroes insisted on not killing, represented by characters like Batman and Superman. There were also those who initially killed ruthlessly but eventually stopped, like her brother, the Green Arrow.

But their ultimate choice was not to kill, or rather, not to kill from then on.

Whether to kill or not almost defined the important boundary between heroes and villains. Crossing it would make one a villain, while not crossing it would make one a hero.

Thea couldn't tell her dad, a major villain, about the hero's theory. She could only borrow and slightly modify Batman's theory to fool him.

Pointing at the initial trident guy, she said, "The one leaning against the tree over there, currently has symptoms of subacute bleeding and spinal cord edema. If he doesn't go into the operating room immediately, it will lead to increased internal organ pressure, causing spleen rupture, kidney failure, and mucosal detachment."

Then she pointed at the lewd guy who was almost out of breath on the ground and grinned, "This one's in a worse state. If he doesn't receive first aid within 30 minutes, he won't see the sun tomorrow morning. Even if he receives timely treatment, he'll be bedridden for life. His central nervous system is damaged, and modern medicine won't make any major breakthroughs, so he'll be disabled. And judging by the extent of his chin damage, he won't be able to speak for the rest of his life."

"As for the guy I shot with an arrow, even if he recovers from his injuries, he'll be a cripple for life. Nerve compression in the lower limbs will also lead to multiple sclerosis, with too many specific symptoms to judge without medical consultation."

"Moreover, I've been standing in the shadows since I found these three idiots. They didn't see my face, and judging by their attire, they don't seem to have high-definition cameras or infrared scanners."

Thea said coldly, "Because of my decision today, I've changed their destinies. Their original life trajectories might have ended up with them repenting and becoming good people, or starting families and becoming ordinary people, neither good nor bad. But due to my intervention, they're all disabled now. Isn't this the magic of destiny?"

"You all love to talk about fate, so let's talk about fate!" Thea repackaged Batman's theory of not killing bad guys but beating them to a pulp with a nihilistic twist, turning it into a declaration of evil. She wondered if Bruce Wayne would come knocking for her after this!

Malcolm didn't expect his daughter not only to form her own worldview but also to have her own guiding theory. He found himself reflecting for a moment. Had he been wrong all along about killing? Was killing actually a form of release, while sparing lives led to torment?

Comparing it to his own experiences, it did make sense. His wife died, and that was it. But he, the living, had suffered for twenty years. Thea was right!

Thinking about Robert and Oliver, when they died, they were gone. But leaving Moira and Thea behind brought endless sadness. Could it be that not killing was far more ruthless than killing?

Although he hadn't fully grasped his daughter's answer, Malcolm had partially accepted this conclusion. Thinking of another matter from the original plan, he decided to temporarily set aside the controversy and deal with the matter at hand first.

"You have your own thoughts, regardless of right or wrong, and that's good. You asked me to train you initially, and I've fulfilled your wish. Now, there's just one final step left – let me see the results of your training," Malcolm said as he drew his katana, diagonally pointing toward the ground, and slowly approached Thea.

Looks like the exercise tonight isn't over yet. Judging by his sword stance, does he want to have a fair and square duel with her? Ridiculous! Her biological father is much stronger than those petty thugs. Thea dared not be careless, drew her bow, and attacked first, relying on her powerful intuition.

Snap, snap— The continuous sound of arrows bursting echoed. Thea shot six arrows in one breath, covering all the space around Malcolm. She knew this wouldn't hinder Malcolm in any way. She picked up the weapons still on the ground, a katana and a dagger, and swiftly moved into the shadow of the trees.
