Capítulo 12: Help! Somebody help me!

...

Somewhere between worlds.

Mina had cleared her affairs a bit and sitting in the luxurious armchair was thinking about what else she should do, she had a lot of different thoughts in her head, but she decided to stop at one.

"I should probably visit Audita, after all, I almost left her to her fate," suppressing a slight feeling of shame, the girl opened a disposable portal and entered it and disappeared in a bright flash. Mina found herself on a stone platform, the same one on which all the previous events had taken place.

"Mina herself couldn't imagine how it was possible to work in such an environment," because she herself had long been accustomed to luxury and comfort in everything. She quickly looked round the deserted space around her and didn't find Audita, but she was quickly found.

Behind the observation mirror was a small couch where the girl lay, her appearance was haggard to say the least.

"Audita, Audita wake up." Mina shook the girl by the shoulders until she woke up. Cracking her sleepy eyes open, the girl spoke.

"Hello Mina, what are you doing here?"

"I'm the one who wants to ask you, I spent too much energy again, Audita we are observers, to actively interfere in the course of events in mortal worlds, we can get in trouble."

"I understand, but what else can I do, the gods won't listen to me, so I'm giving my blessings to the defenders of the capital of the kingdom of Silia." Having given out this speech in one breath the girl was silent, and took a deep breath.

"And this newcomer of yours, what's his name, Bro... Bor... Bondure, how is he, has he abandoned the mission, like everyone before him?" Mina was already ready to comfort, her poor friend, she had no luck with heroes, ever since she started watching Hortus.

"He's coming to the rescue!" Having said this on the girl's face, a wide smile of true happiness spread out, "Less than a day's journey left, that's why I actively put blessings on the defenders, they should hold out, they just have to, at least the first assault they repelled."

"So why don't you hurry him up, or has he already lost the ring?" Mina kept a calm expression on her face, but the surprise never left her, she had a much worse opinion of this homunculus.

"He just put the ring in his pocket and never took it out again, and I only managed to warn him of the danger once, and that was in a dream."

"You know, I think I can help you," Audita, as soon as she heard that, immediately rushed to hug her friend. "Yes, thank you, you're so helpful." Mina took out a scroll and a quill from her spatial pocket and started writing something. After a couple of minutes, the woman put the quill aside and tossed the scroll into the air, it burned up in a blinding flame without flying in the air for 5 seconds.

"What did you do?"

"Let's just say I sent my little man to him to give him your message. So, what else happened?"

"Bondrewd made some new friends," Mina was a little shocked, but she didn't show it.

"It's very interesting, let's have a look," the woman put her finger on the glass and the murky picture was instantly transformed. A carriage appeared on the surface of the glass, on which Bondrewd was travelling.

"Oh great creator, what is that bald scamp, and what a mistake of nature is that walking beside the wagon. It seems to me that the most adequate creature in their company is the horse pulling the cart." The observer's eye twitched slightly, though what did she expect, what kind of hero is such and such companions.

...

The Kingdom of Sylia, the capital city of Meredian.

In the bowels of the royal palace, the war council was already in its third day, countless scribes were working in the sweat of their brow, junior ranks were running with reports on the situation and back, in the centre of the hall a dozen people were gathered around a large luxurious table behind a screen, they were endlessly discussing the most pressing issue, how to hold the capital until the arrival of reinforcements. The ubiquitous banter was interrupted by a thunderous bang on the table.

"Shut up, all of you, and speak one at a time, I don't understand anything." The owner of this thundering voice was a stately man in the dawn of his powers, he was huge and muscular, thanks to what actively stood out against the background of all present, he was dressed in a red velvet cape, worn over a shirt, the man's face exuded the very masculinity, his features were predatorily sharp, and through the left eye there was an impressive size scar, he was blond, his hair stood out and at times slightly sparkling.

"Your Majesty, we have beaten back the first assault, the enemy has temporarily retreated to their positions, now we are collecting the wounded and reinforcing the walls." After finishing his report, the man in the armour pulled back and stood as if he were standing on the ground.

"How long can we maintain, the barrier." The king was a veteran of many sieges, both from the besiegers and the defenders, and he knew one thing for sure: without a magical barrier, no city would last long.

"Unless something extraordinary happens, our forces will last for a few more days," a young girl in a black dress and a wide hat answered him, her face very pretty and her figure very appetising.

"I always knew you were useless." The young man in white clothes smiled slightly and looked angrily at the girl in black, she did not stay in debt and showed him her tongue with a snide smile.

"Speaking of you, High Priest, why does Chodos give us his flock, so few of his blessings? What's that bastard's problem again?" The last part of the sentence was spoken in a half voice, with a slight note of despair.

"My information says just the opposite, our deity supports us in our sacred duty, the defence of our home." The expression of the high priest's voice was so pathetic that it seemed as if Chodos himself should immediately descend into the world and drive out the attackers with a dust broom.

"Who are you lying to old man, the blessings of Chodos were given to a few, maybe 5-7 from other gods, but the bulk were given by another source, I can say that for sure, and I have the proof." The chief of the secret police was as rude, precise and convincing as ever. Dressed in a black cloak, the slim figure exuded such confidence that it looked like it was about to be touched.

"How dare you, you..." The high priest did not have time to finish, he was stopped by the king, and he was not the kind of man with whom sensible people argue.

"Have you found the source?"

"No, not yet, but this matter is under my personal control, rest assured my majesty, I will get to the truth." The secret police chief's answer was as quick as if he'd been memorizing it all night.

"I hope you won't let me down, it's not every day that a new unknown entity appears and scatters blessings like the wind, at least we will know in whose honour we should erect temples." With the last word, the king shifted his gaze to the high priest, but he only frowned slightly.

"If the barrier falls, will the walls withstand the magical impact?" The question was addressed to a short and slightly chubby man, who had a nervous chuckle on his face for a moment.

"Yes, of course," the man mumbled, staggering slightly. The king's face showed a slight anger, but he didn't bother with the master builder.

"Okay, that's it for today, Margil." He pointed at the man in armour, "you keep an eye on the situation, if anything at all arouses your suspicion call me, the rest of you work, as for you, High Priesthood, talk to your patron, we need help more than ever."

The king bowed to those present and walked away, accompanied by his bodyguards, walking along the long corridors of his castle the man never left the anxiety for a second. Ten minutes later he reached his chambers, leaving the guards outside he slammed the door shut and threw off his cloak.

There was no need to act like an inflexible leader now, there was no one around anyway. The man fell to his knees and tears came to his eyes. Things were very bad, and apart from the High Priest, it was impossible to even accuse anyone of incompetence. The fact that the magical barrier was still holding was nothing short of a miracle.

The necromancers struck the first blow swiftly, and it was so powerful that the explosion was visible, perhaps, even on the moon. How the necromancers had found such a talented mage in their army, or where they had obtained such a large charged crystal, neither the king nor anyone else knew.

The king was a military professional, and he could run from the truth all he wanted, but it was the same - they were finished. Reinforcements would arrive in a week at best. In that time, the necromancers would have time to take the city two times.

The man slammed his fist on the wooden headboard of the bed, it of course shattered into splinters and fresh blood began to drip from his fist. The king looked up to the ceiling and pleaded.

"I don't know who you are, but I see that you want to help us, so I beg you to help us again," tears of despair fell on the carpet, but the king did not think to stop.

"Help! Help somebody, if not me, then at least my country!" Suddenly the man felt a slight heat in his knees, taking a step back he, not believing his eyes, read, read the message that was scorched on the carpet.

"You have been heard."
