"This is what servants eat …?" Sebastian asked, disgusted. Jylan covered his laugh with a loud cough, which led to a sound between a laugh and a chough, and ultimately to the former butler choking on his food.
Sebastian had never seen a meal so plain in his life. A single stale loaf of bread was set next to a piece of chicken breast with no seasoning. It was worse than common food, which was at least made to look gourmet even if it was cheap.
"..."
Sebastian's face was scrunched up in pure disgust, gaping at the dish in front of him, while Jylan laughed, coughing, punching the table. The banquet was currently being hosted, but, as usual, the two had decided to talk on a balcony instead - even though Jylan was the star of the party. The table they were eating on had a bright red tablecloth, and the moon was a small slice above their heads. Music drifted out the door, and on the balcony, the wind made its own music. Sebastian frowned at the piece of bread, poking it with a fork as if it would explode at any given moment, while Jylan continued to laugh and cough until he finally stopped, wiped his eyes, and said with a large smile,
"Would you like to try my dish, My Prince?"
Sebastian stopped poking the suspicious loaf with a fork and looked up. "Of course. This is not something royalty should eat." He pushed the plate away and looked at Jylan's food, which was, unsurprisingly, much nobler, a perfectly seasoned chicken breast with a light, buttered loaf of bread right next to it. The butler was now smiling like a cat, and Sebastian paused to hear what Jylan said next.
"Oh, but there's one condition, My Prince."
There it was. Sebastian rolled his eyes. "What do you want me to do?"
"Hmm. I don't know right now. But I'll cash it in later." Jyaln said, smiling and swapping plates with Sebastian.
"You are a dangerous person, Butler. Don't make it too ridiculous, please, whatever you do." Sebastian sighed, biting into a delicately roasted potato.
