Capítulo 17: Chapter 17: Alchemy Discipline, Dual Cultivation of Formations!

After parting ways with the Weasley twins, Lynn returned to the Slytherin common room to continue studying the three ancient rune books. However, no matter how much he tried to forget what happened at the Three Broomsticks, Professor Green's appearance was still fresh in his memory.

It was another Saturday. In the past six days, Lynn had already read all the knowledge points of the first three books on the list, and he had even remembered the knowledge points of the fourth book, which introduced alchemy.

Standing outside the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor's office, Lynn felt a little uneasy yet excited. After all, a week ago, Professor Green had clearly stated that if Lynn finished reading the first three books, he could advance to the threshold of alchemy!

The door to the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor's office opened. Professor Green looked normal, no different from when he taught Defense Against the Dark Arts classes on weekdays. He invited Lynn into the office.

"Professor, I have finished reading the first three books on the list you gave me, and I've also gone through the fourth book," Lynn spoke up without waiting for Professor Green to prompt him.

Hearing this, Professor Green was a little surprised. Even when he was studying alchemy, it took him two and a half weeks to digest the knowledge points of those three books!

"What does this alchemical rune mean?" Professor Green raised his hand and used his wand to outline a combination of ancient runes and alchemical runes in the air, asking Lynn to decipher it.

In the third book on the list, there were records of special runes that combined certain ancient runes and alchemical runes. These runes were necessary for advanced alchemy. Even alchemists could simply engrave these alchemical runes on their products to activate their effects.

Generally, alchemical runes needed special materials or magic power to stimulate their effects. However, these special alchemical runes were different; they could activate directly!

"This alchemical rune means 'strengthening,' which enhances the original effect of a magical product to a certain extent. The degree of enhancement depends on the original magical strength," Lynn quickly answered after glancing at the alchemical rune in the air.

Professor Green sketched out another alchemical rune and inquired, "And what about this alchemical rune?"

Lynn replied fluently, "This alchemical rune means 'explosion.' It causes the object engraved with it to explode upon activation by magic power."

Professor Green drew another alchemical rune, one that resembled a rectangle.

Drawing from his knowledge, Lynn explained, "This alchemical rune means 'obstruction.' It hinders the flow of magic power. If combined with the 'explosion' alchemical rune, a special rune that delays the explosion can be created. It causes the object engraved with both runes to explode after a delay once injected with magic power."

Satisfied with Lynn's answers, Professor Green nodded. "Very good. It seems I don't need to test you further. Your thinking is very flexible. Even without a systematic study of alchemy, you've grasped some of its concepts. Now, let me guide you into the realm of alchemy."

Lynn looked at Professor Green with anticipation.

"Generally, alchemists belong to two schools: magic alchemists who focus on refining alchemical materials and creating products from scratch, and array alchemists who specialize in engraving alchemical runes and connecting them to existing objects to enhance them. Representatively, the Philosopher's Stone by Nicolas Flamel is a product of the magic alchemist, while Hogwarts Castle's defensive arrays, created by generations of array alchemists, are a representation of array alchemy."

After explaining the two schools, Professor Green asked, "So, Lynn, which school are you interested in joining?"

Lynn hesitated. Both schools described by Professor Green were highly appealing. Whether it was the Philosopher's Stone or Hogwarts Castle's defensive arrays, they were both intriguing.

"Professor, which school of alchemy do you practice?" Lynn inquired, as Professor Green's choice would be of great reference.

Professor Green smiled, patting Lynn on the shoulder. "As for me, I practice both formations and magic. As the name implies, I combine knowledge from both alchemical schools. My 'Dampening Stone' is the result of this fusion. It's not only an alchemical product made from various materials, but it also incorporates numerous alchemical magic arrays to enhance its power. However, not everyone can practice both like me. Each alchemical school requires vast energy and time. But if you have the ability, why not study both?"

Turning to Lynn, Professor Green continued, "Are you willing to be my apprentice and learn my alchemy?"

What Professor Green meant by 'apprentice' was not the typical teacher-student relationship at Hogwarts but rather a master's direct disciple.

If Lynn agreed, he would become Professor Green's apprentice!
