All the splendor the market once held was gone, all the activities, the beauties of the bustling buying and selling was now replaced by a landscape of destruction and damnation.

Jared looked at his feet, the ground beneath them was scorched black, seared by infernal flames. Stalls were in ruins, burnt, scalded, turned to blackness and despair.

Lirael gazed around at the thick, greenish smoke billowing in the air out of the layers of the burnt ground, choking the atmosphere with the acrid stench of burning.
