The cage dropped one more time, and Spheris standing amongst the throng, narrowed his eyes in tense anticipation. Who was it going to be? Thorin... or Cerene?

Atlant's Temple walked out of the cage after handing Talon to Linne who was re-entering the cage. Spheris felt his heart ache at the sight of her disheveled appearance.

The Cerene he knew, full of softness and goodness, seemed absent. Her demeanor was hard, her gaze steely, and even her shadow lacked the warmth he had always sensed.

Was he about to learn something new about her? Was there a dark side of Cerene about to be revealed? Spheris, who had once wished for her to abandon the goody-two-shoes act, her kindness, her unwavering morality, now found himself hoping otherwise.
