"Might I have a word with you in private, Ísar?"
The young king looked away from Xinghua to give Emmeline a raised eyebrow. The rest of the council were busy filing out and Ísar had been busy assuring Xinghua that he was fine and that the words of the members meant little to him.
"We were going to the fountain for study, Emmeline," Xinghua interjected, moving a little closer and blocking Ísar's view of the princess slightly.
His protectiveness may have appeared burdensome to some people but after their discussion the previous night around Ísar's insecurities, the young king found it and almost all of Xinghua's actions towards him endearing.
Emmeline seemed a little taken aback by Xinghua's action, hurt crossing across her features for a moment before her overly sweet smile returned.
"It will only take a moment, Xing! I promise not to hold him up too long."
