Sebastian watched as the tension mounted within the group, his lips curling into a wry smile.

He understood the reasons for their distrust, but it mattered little to him.

All he cared about was that Rebecca was safe. As for the rest, whatever the problem, everything could be solved with the pointy tip of his spear.

Sarah, Miyoko, and Thomas all cast suspicious looks at him. Sebastian regarded their glances unflinchingly, his own expression unreadable.

He knew they thought he was to blame for their predicament, but he couldn't care less about their thoughts.

Conversely, Robert and Rebecca appeared to appreciate his willingness to intervene.

Sebastian had a moment of satisfaction as a result.

At the very least, some of the others acknowledged the value he could provide for their escape.

The sound of the Venomshrike Horror's roar in the distance reminded them of the pressing danger they faced.
