A knock at the door jolted Captain Drabble from his sleep. He blinked darkness was surrounding him, his mind foggy with confusion due to tiredness.

Was he dreaming? The question barely had time to form before another round of insistent knocking answered it.

While rubbing his eyes, irritation bubbled within him.

"Who in the world could that be at this hour?" he said, not that much under his breath as he staggered to his feet.

With a mix of annoyance, Captain Drabble yanked the door open. "What's the meaning of this disturbance?"

The figure that greeted him was a young soldier, his stance rigid yet trembling under the captain's intense gaze.

The fear in his eyes was clear, a sign that the urgency of his visit was matched only by his apprehension at having to disturb the captain.
