Chapter LV: The Wonder's Of A Cold Heart.

"Are you freaking kidding me?! Is that your answer for everything?! I can take the hero thing and the jobs we take, but when I had that dream it was like cold water was splashed in my face! Get it through your thick skull, you are not immortal! You can't solve everything! Does our family mean nothing?!" Dinah yelled at the top of her lungs.
The girls can't believe what just happened, but they chose to stand their ground, but Naruto was a different story.
Naruto couldn't stand this. He had to leave before he ended up saying something he'll sorely regret. He tried to walk away but the women blocked his path.
He looks at all of them, about to say something else, until he hears Lian starting to fuss. He sighs.
"We can discuss this later. All of us." he tells them.
The women look to each other as Naruto walked inside getting a cry from his daughter knowing that there is trouble within the family.
Now.
Gotham; Clock Tower April 11, 19:01 EDT.
Kage jumped out of the opening and landed on the roof of the tower.
"Kage, that crazy son of a bitch Jervis Tech just walked right into the precinct and handed himself in. Said he's taken hostages, wants to talk to either you or Batman." Aaron Cash said over his ear piece.
"I'm on my way. Don't let anyone talk to him until I get there." Naruto replied as he jumped off the tower and landed in a crouch by his Tomahawk Motorcycle.
"Mal, meet me at the Gotham precinct. Let's test out your Guardian persona."
"Why?"
"Because the whole world saw that Guardian was 'back' so let's get some training in."
He got on and rode towards the G.C.P.D. and into the lower entrance. Going in, he saw the secretary who nodded at him before walking down the hall to the main building. He walked in and saw Aaron at his desk.
"What's the latest, Cash?"
"We got Jervis downstairs in the interview room. He's talking about killing cops. Kage, I just lost contact with three of my squad cars. Coincidence?"
"I doubt it." Naruto replied looking at the fixed office.
"If you and that freak need some alone time, I can kill the surveillance cam." Aaron said as Naruto walked to the back door, looking at the cell in the middle and oxygen tank Ivy was in. Going down a flight of stairs, Naruto saw a female officer standing at the door. "I can take it from here, Renee."
Renee nodded as Naruto walked in and saw a short man in a suit and top hat, reminiscent of the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland.
"Oh, frabjous day! Callooh! Callay! Kage is here, it's time to play." He said in rhyme as Naruto waked over.
"I'm not playing your twisted games, Jervis. The hostages, where are they?"
"Let's see, let's see, oh, one, two, three!" Mad Hatter said counting his fingers. "A hat-trick of your boys in blue. Do they live or die? That's up to you!"
Naruto lifted him up to the light. "What have you done with them?"
"Such violent means, but all in vain, I've trained my mind to feel no pain." Mad Hatter said before Naruto brought him in close.
"Don't make me put that to the test." Naruto said with a growl before tossing him back in his seat.
"Oh, Kage. Allay your fears, prick up your ears, you'll soon hear the tears. Just listen for the siren's song. Yes, you'll find your Alice before too long."
Naruto walked out of the room and walked back up outside.
As he walked, he shook his head. "Déjà vu, again. But this time with a woman who looks like Anko, if she were in a biker gang."
As he got outside, he saw Guardian on his motorcycle before walking over to his.
"Jervis has three officers somewhere in the city. Said to listen for the siren's song."
"I did hear a faint siren from Lady Gotham on my way here." Guardian said having Naruto turn around as they drove up the ramp.
"He must have police cars, then."
Gotham; Lady Of Gotham April 11, 19:16 EDT.
The heroes saw a car with Alice in Wonderland themed graffiti over it before Naruto used his vision and saw someone tied inside the trunk, covered in dynamite.
"It's rigged to blow." Naruto said taking out his hacking device and deactivated the bombs. Guardian pulled the trunk open and saw a cop with a cartoon Cheshire cat mask before hearing the Mad Hatter over the car's speakers.
"You've found the Cheshire Cat. All grinning, but don't be fooled, don't think that you're winning."
"Kage? Guardian? What happened? How'd I end up here?" The man asked as Naruto took off his mask.
"Tell us what you remember." Guardian said as the man shook his head.
"I was chasing down some robbers and the siren went all screwy. I had to pull over. Next thing, I wake up tied in the trunk with the siren blaring. I thought it would never end."
"You're safe now. I'll send someone to pick you up." Naruto said before putting a hand to his ear. "Cash. I've got the first officer at the Lady of Gotham statue."
"Roger. Jervis had a map showing a person at the light house, and another near the movie studio."
"Got it, we'll go to the lighthouse next."
Gotham; Lighthouse April 11, 19:25 EDT.
The duo dropped to see another police car before defusing the bomb.
They popped the trunk open showing an African-American woman with a Queen mask on.
"The Queen of Hearts and roses red. Oh, be careful Alice, or she'll have your head!"
Guardian helped the woman out of the trunk and took her mask off. "It's okay, you're safe."
"Kage. Guardian. I thought I'd never get out of there. That noise… What the hell happened to me?"
"It's over now. I'll have you taken back to G.C.P.D." Naruto said having the woman nod. "Cash, we got the second officer."
"Good job, you two. I'll send someone to get them."
Gotham; Lighthouse April 11, 19:38 EDT.
The heroes opened the third trunk, only to find it empty with only old alarm clocks inside, and a book of Alice in Wonderland.
"The rabbit's gone! He's hopped away! I'm sure he only wants to play. Return the book and we'll find, how little Alice lost her mind."
"Cash. The last car is empty. Any word on the missing officer?"
"Sergeant Lory just walked inside, actually. Said he blacked out, and woke up without his car. That's everyone accounted for. I don't buy it, Kage. Jervis is up to something."
"Probably has someone inside already tied up then."
Gotham; G.C.P.D. April 11, 19:38 EDT.
"The Knight returns, all filled with malice. Tell me Kage, did you find your Alice?" The Mad Hatter said as Naruto slammed the book down.
"No more games, Jervis! Where's the other hostage?"
"Why, yes, there's three! Oh, silly me. The answer's in the book, Kage. Open and see."
Naruto opened the book, and saw the picture of Alice chasing the white rabbit. Only Alice had his hooded vest on instead.
Naruto reached over and grabbed the Mad Hatter. "Tell me!"
"No joke, no joke, control your rage. The answer is there, just turn the page."
Naruto dropped him before turning the page. And shook his head as he found himself standing on a large book as the Arkham Asylum came up like a pop up picture.
Men walked out of the opening before Naruto saw Guardian run up and bashed one of their heads with his shield. After taking care of the group, a light shown on the back of the page showing a man in a white rabbit's mask.
The heroes ran to him before seeing a giant Mad Hatter turn the page. Naruto grabbed both men and jumped over the page to reveal Arkham City's steel factory before more men came out as the officer ran away.
Naruto dashed to the men as did Guardian before Naruto stepped on a man's knee and broke it before kneeing him in the face as Guardian threw a man over to him. Naruto punched the man before jumping up, took out an arrow, and shot it having it explode in wires that shocked the men.
Once getting to the officer, they jumped a page again and saw Gotham City covered in orange to indicate Scarecrow's takeover.
Men dressed like the Knight's Militia attacked, having Naruto take out another taser arrow and shocked the men before grabbing the officer that tried to attack and pull off his mask. Suddenly, Naruto saw he was back inside the precinct before walking to the Mad Hatter, grabbed him, crushed his hat, and took him to a cell.
Gotham; Clocktower April 15, 21:16 EDT.
"Kage, I'm getting a distress signal from a stranded cargo vessel. I'm attempting to establish radio contact but there's too much interference." Naruto heard Batgirl over his earpiece.
"Send me the co-ordinates, I'll go investigate." Naruto said before directions came up on his glasses showing it was just past the lighthouse on Miagani Island.
Gotham; Miagani Island, Cargo Ship April 15, 21:36 EDT.
Kage slammed a man who was dressed like the Knight's and Deathstroke's Militia before hearing someone over the speakers. "Oh, come on. You're the best there is!"
"Deathstroke." Naruto said before sending a clone to unlock the doors of the ship that's covered in ice.
"Long time no see, Kage. Don't get in my way on this. I've got the Light looking over things."
Naruto jumped down on the ice block surrounding the ship before seeing a hole in the ship and men encased in ice.
"Bodies encased in ice." He said before going inside and walked through a door.
Inside, he saw Mr. Freeze kneeling in front of a broken cryogenic container.
"Warning. Cryogenerator unstable. Warning. Cryogenerator unstable."
The computer said as Naruto made his way over. "Reroute auxiliary power!" Mr. Freeze said looking to his right.
"Error. System failure. Cryogenerator unstable."
"NO! Nora…!"
"Victor." Naruto said getting Freeze to stand up and turn to him.
"They wanted me to join them. Help fight against the League. I refused, so they took her. They took Nora because of you!" He raised his arm showing his gauntlet open up to show a freeze gun.
"She'll die without my care. But they said they'll return her. In exchange for one of you."
"If you truly believe them, Victor. Take your shot." Naruto said moving to stand closer to the gun.
And had Freeze lower his hand. "Find her, Kage. Please."
"I will. Get this ship under control." Naruto replied as Freeze gave him a tracking device.
Naruto left before putting a hand to his ear. "Batgirl, I've got a tracking device that'll lead me to Nora, Victor's wife. It's transmitting a location."
"Be careful. I don't think they'll give her up without a fight."
"I knew you cared about your hubby!"
"(BEEP!) (BEEP!)"
"(Whistle!) Glad I put the censor on for Garfield."
Gotham; Bleake Island, Chinatown April 15, 22:50 EDT.
Kage kicked a tall muscular man into the water before looking to see a very large chest on the dock the men were at.
"The signal's here. But no sign of Nora's cryochamber." Naruto opened it up, and saw the tracker in ice.
"Damn it!" Naruto cursed before seeing a man trying to get away before walking over to him. "Where is she?!" He asked grabbing him.
"Let-Let go of me!"
"Where?!"
"They took her to a rooftop in Otisburg, that's all I know!"
Naruto headbutted him, and knocked the man out. "Victor, they found the tracking device, but I know where she is."
"No! NO! This is taking too much time!"
"Stay calm. I will find her. You just need to get that equipment stable."
"..."
"Victor!"
"Yes. Every second I'm losing her. Please hurry."
Gotham; Founder's Island, Otisburg April 15, 23:09 EDT.
Naruto and his clones dropped on each man surrounding a cryochamber as four more dropped on four snipers on the surrounding rooftops before they sealed their guns.
He went to the cryochamber and whipped the fog from the glass.
He saw a Nora with short brown hair, wearing a blue dress.
"(GASP!)" She woke up and hit the door as it opened having Naruto grab her before she fell, and laid her against a trunk.
"Kage..."
"Try not to move." Naruto said as Nora coughed.
"For what, another lifetime?"
"You know how long it's been?"
"Too long… It was like dreaming. But I could hear Victor speaking to me." Nora explained.
"Then you know what he's become." Naruto said before hearing his earpiece beep. He hit his glasses instead and had a video of Freeze come up on his lens.
"Kage, where is she? Have you found her?"
"She's here, Victor… She's awake."
"No! You have to bring her back..." Nora grabbed Naruto's arm before speaking.
"Let me talk to him."
Naruto looked to see a military laptop on the box before typing on it and helped Nora up as Freeze came up on the laptop.
"Victor?" She asked touching the screen.
"Nora? Don't be afraid. I'll save you..."
"Victor..."
"As soon as your back. I'll freeze you again..."
"Please, stop..."
"System error. Modification rejected." The computer said as the screen flickered.
"… I will save you, Nora. I'm nearly there. The next round of therapies-"
"Don't you see?! I don't want saving! Not anymore." Nora said before Naruto leaned down.
"Victor, the generator!"
"But you're dying, Nora." Freeze said ignoring Naruto right before the feed went out.
"Victor?!"
BOOM!
Looking back to the orphanage, they saw ice explode as a large military helicopter flew up as Ice came to them.
"Victor… God, no!" Nora yelled as Naruto reached up for his communicator as he heard Deathstroke's men talk about attacking.
"We have to go. Now."
Naruto said as he hit a button on his arm computer before grabbing the laptop and helped Nora to the road. The Tumbler came to them, and opened up having Naruto put Nora in the passenger seat.
Naruto went to the drivers side as a compartment by the headrest opened up. Naruto put the laptop inside before jumping in and took off as the compartment, and roof closed.
"Please, save him." Nora said as Naruto moved through the ice.
"I will."
Gotham; Freeze's Ship April 15, 23:45 EDT.
Naruto jumped over a tank as he landed on the ice and went into Tank-Mode. Hitting a button, Naruto took out the ten ships before more started to come.
"Victor! You can take them all out! Detonate the generator!"
"No! I can still save her!"
"Victor… It's alright. It's what I want." Nora said as more tanks came on the ice and started to crack it.
"VICTOR!" Naruto yelled out just as there was an explosion near the ship
"Nora… I love you."
BOOM!
Later, Naruto brought Nora to the ship as Freeze fixed the holes with ice as the ice in the waters melted. Naruto stayed back as Nora convinced her husband to take off the helmet and live the final days they had in peace.
Naruto just stared before jumping up to the Bio-Ship that was carrying his car before being dropped off on the mainland.
"The ship is leaving Gotham. Should we track it?" Batgirl said coming up on a holo-screen over the steering wheel.
"No… We won't be seeing them again." Naruto replied looking as the ship started to sail away.
