Capítulo 27: Chapter 27: Solving the Magic Power in the Mage Tower
In the Black Manor, several opal-eyed dragons were tied up with chains by the wizards of the Black family and were waiting in the open space.
This wasn't the first time Martin and the other children had seen creatures like dragons, but they remained very interested in magical creatures.
"Brother, look at how big this one is and how cute it is. Can I keep one?" Alice's soft voice sounded as she held onto Martin's sleeve. Alice, dressed in a pink skirt, didn't perceive the Australian Opal Eye Dragon as dangerous at all.
Martin looked at his sister affectionately and inwardly sighed at Alice's sense of aesthetics. Was this really cute?
"Alice, dragons are very dangerous creatures. Mother won't allow you to keep one. How about I find you a beautiful owl instead?" Martin suggested.
Alice's pretty little face wrinkled up; she didn't like owls, preferring larger pets.
Jerome, dressed in a small black suit beside them, lazily observed the dragon in front of him and said with a hint of helplessness, "Alice, this dragon is used to treat Ben's condition. Without these Australian Protein Dragons, Ben's body won't recover."
Upon hearing her second brother's explanation, Alice turned to look at Ben, feeling a pang of sadness in her heart. She had never seen her third brother express such eagerness and excitement before.
Although Ben usually appeared expressionless and indifferent, today she realized that he wasn't as cold as he seemed. She remembered that her brothers and sisters always took care of her no matter what.
Alice sensibly took Ben's hand. "Third brother, your illness will be cured soon."
Ben simply nodded, holding his sister's hand tightly, his gaze fixed on the tall tower in the middle of the manor. His father had promised him that after today, he would be able to harness the magic power within him.
Before, he pretended not to care when watching his siblings cast spells, but deep down, he longed to do the same.
After noon, Cole led a few people into the Mage Tower. Countless inscriptions adorned its walls, and numerous rare materials were arranged on the high platform in the center.
"Dumbledore is here, Master," Wright informed Cole, bringing news of Dumbledore's arrival. Cole immediately requested Dumbledore's presence.
Cole invited Dumbledore to witness the proceedings to reassure him and avoid any potential future conflicts regarding his son.
Cole never doubted Dumbledore's ability to plan ahead; Dumbledore was known for his foresight.
The Black family children would inevitably attend Hogwarts in the future, and Cole didn't want any issues arising there. As Hogwarts was Dumbledore's territory, Cole aimed to demonstrate his strength and intentions by showcasing the Mage Tower's magic.
"Cole, I didn't expect the Black family to possess such a magical structure," Dumbledore remarked as he approached. As a legendary wizard, he could sense the power emanating from the tower.
This power bore some resemblance to the magic within a wizard's body, but Dumbledore could sense its purity.
Though Dumbledore wasn't from a pure-blood family, the Dumbledore family held significant status among wizarding families.
"Principal, I mentioned that the Black family has the ability to address Ben's issues, especially since Ben isn't an Obscurus," Cole replied, addressing Dumbledore's unspoken concerns. He wasn't worried about Ben posing a threat to the wizarding world; he only cared about his son's well-being.
But witnessing the Mage Tower piqued Dumbledore's curiosity.
Since Cole's return to England, Dumbledore hadn't sensed anything unusual about him. However, upon his return to the Black family, Cole had displayed powers beyond his years.
During the altercation in Knockturn Alley, Dumbledore had witnessed Cole's capabilities and couldn't help but wonder about the source of his transformation.
"No time to waste, Ben, stand up," Cole instructed.
Ban clenched his fists and ascended the high platform resolutely.
At Cole's command, the dragons outside the tower wailed, and their blood flowed into the tower's magic grooves, filling it with golden light.
Cole retrieved a unicorn's horn from his belongings, its white surface emitting a holy glow. Contrary to misconceptions, this horn wasn't obtained through the killing of a unicorn; such an act would incur a curse. It was a treasured heirloom of the Black family, finally being put to use.
Various precious materials ascended to the platform, turning to mana under the tower's influence.
As the energy surged, Dumbledore and the others felt a breeze and sensed the magical power surrounding them. Even Dumbledore, as a great wizard, was moved by the experience.
Cole wielded his wand, carving countless magical inscriptions in the air, which converged around Ban.
The children, Martin and Jerome, were awestruck by the magical display.
Unbeknownst to most, an unusual sound resonated from the tower's summit the moment Cole activated his magic. The sky darkened, and thunder and lightning gathered, encircling the Mage Tower in a spectacle of blue and white.
The wizards of the Black family silently removed the Australian Proteosaurs' bodies from the tower.
Meanwhile, on the platform, Ban shut his eyes tightly, a pained expression on his youthful face. Cold sweat dotted his skin, evaporating immediately.
Undeterred, Cole continued his incantations until the magic inside the tower peaked. With a final spell, all the energy surged into Ban's body.
The barrier within Ban shattered, followed by a roar, and then silence enveloped the tower.
Cole approached the platform where Ben lay unconscious. After a thorough examination, he confirmed success.
Martin, Jerome, Darlene, and Alice rushed to Ben's side, expressing their concern.
Dumbledore shook his head, roused from his magical reverie.
"As a great wizard, I feel more than what meets the eye," Dumbledore remarked to Cole.
"You've succeeded, Cole. Magic never ceases to amaze," he added, acknowledging the feat.
Cole escorted Ben back to his room and led Dumbledore to the study.
