Capítulo 55: Before the storm
The day before the mission, Ryo was walking in the market, with Naruto accompanying him. Ryo had mentioned during their last dinner that he wanted to go to the market and the ninja market to buy some equipment. Naruto had expressed his desire to go with him.
So here they were, the two boys walking through the streets of Konoha's markets. Ryo was dressed in his standard ninja attire, with the headband on his forehead. Many looked at him with a different look, not of fear or anything like that, but one of respect. A child so young and already a genin.
Of course, there were some who didn't find it very relevant or at least didn't take it into account. But all the merchants from Konoha took Ryo seriously. The two had been walking for a few minutes, with Ryo buying some things here and there, which varied. Even more so with Naruto by his side, pointing out some useless items and things, which Ryo ended up buying for him in the end.
After a few more minutes, Naruto had two bags full of items, including some kunais, shurikens, and even a bag full of instant ramen. Naruto seemed satisfied and happy as he walked through the area. But at one point, Ryo was a little distracted looking at some items until he came across a specific one.
"Is this here? It can't be." He thought as he changed his walking route to go to a nearby shop. Approaching the glasses rack, he could see the classic green glasses headband that Naruto wore when the Naruto manga began. Ryo quickly grabbed it and paid for it, which wasn't too expensive, and then put it in one of the bags.
"Ready to go then, Naruto? Have you got everything you wanted?" The boy nodded, and the two of them started walking again. However, at a certain point during the walk, Ryo spoke to Naruto. "Naruto, let's stop by the training ground; I want to give you a present there."
A few minutes later, they arrived at the training area. Naruto was a bit impatient and curious about what the present could be. Ryo placed the purchases on the table and then took something out of one of the bags.
"Do you remember the day we came to train here with Sae?" He mentioned the Uchiha girl who had died. Naruto's expression closed a bit; he didn't like thinking about it too much, even though he didn't have much contact with her, she was still a friend to him, albeit to a lesser extent than with Ryo. And Ryo noticed the change in his expression.
"It's painful for me to remember too. But it's something we can't forget, Naruto." He then placed his hand with the green glasses headband, showing it to Naruto. "It's not a ninja headband yet, but it's a symbol for you to carry until you become a ninja. Let's become strong enough to change this world, Naruto. For Sae and all those who died before that. That's what I want, to change the world."
Naruto listened to what Ryo said, even though he didn't understand everything. He knew that what had happened to the Uchihas had been very bad, and he had the protagonist's determination in his heart. "Yes! I'll become the Hokage! And we'll change the world together, dattebayo!"
Ryo smiled as he handed the green glasses headband to Naruto, who put it on right away. After that, they talked a bit more, with Ryo asking about their training and everything else, discovering that Sasuke had already returned to the ninja academy. And then the day ended.
The next morning, in front of Konoha's gate:
It was still 5:40 in the morning when Ryo arrived at the meeting place with Kakashi and Team 13. But no one else was there yet. Ryo had prepared the night before, putting numerous resources into storage scrolls, ranging from food to weapons and medical items.
A few minutes later, Haruka and Denji arrived at the location, almost 6 a.m., the agreed-upon time with Kakashi. Denji yawned; his hair was still a bit messy, and he spoke right away. "I don't know why I woke up so early; I'm sure he'll be late again." Haruka looked at Denji, sighing.
The two had a strange interaction, with Denji doing very childish things and Haruka reprimanding him for it. But even so, they had good coordination, although the three of them would still have to train that more. Since Ryo was the one who interacted the least, he would have more work to do. The good side was that he could analyze situations calmly.
As 6 a.m. approached, smoke appeared in the middle of the three, with Kakashi emerging from it. Incredibly, he had arrived exactly on time as agreed. "Good morning. We have a mission to do, actually a few. Let's start walking." With that said, he started walking out of Konoha's gates.
"We have a Rank D mission." The three of them looked at each other; normally Rank D missions would be done within Konoha, but they were leaving the village. "We received an unusual mission request, but the requirements weren't enough for a higher-ranked mission, so it was classified as Rank D."
Kakashi began explaining the content of the mission to the three young ninja. "We will travel to the town of Shukuba, located near the border of the Land of Fire and the Land of Hot Springs. We will investigate why some hot springs are no longer warm. This is a problem that has been occurring a lot there. Once we complete the investigation, we will return."
The mission seemed relatively easy, but it could take some time. Therefore, Ryo and the others were instructed by Kakashi to prepare themselves. From what Ryo knew, it would take a few days to get to Shukuba. Ryo remembered this town because it was where the fight between Itachi and Sasuke took place.
But that was an event from a few years ago, and it was far away. There probably wouldn't be any Akatsuki or anything like that, considering it was classified as a Rank D mission. Ryo and his team shouldn't have any problems executing the mission.
"As it's a long journey, I've taken on a few more missions that we can solve along the way. We have some fields to help with planting and some lost cats to find along the way. I'll keep you all informed as we get closer to them."
With that said by Kakashi, Team 13 continued their journey to their first Rank D missions, but no one could know what would happen during the trip, the stay, and the return. Everything was very calm, like the calm before the storm.
