Ryo began moving his hand rapidly as he opened Kentou's shirt. His abdomen had been brutally struck by a sword, but with a quick observation, Ryo realized it was a clean cut, not a jagged wound, which was a good sign at least.
Knowing that such a cut would be easy to suture and close, Ryo couldn't do that yet. The cut, despite being clean, was deep, and just by looking at it, he could see that Kentou's guts hadn't spilled out because the man had somehow managed to hold everything in before passing out.
Ryo cleaned the large cut while using a medical ninjutsu with his other hand to stop the bleeding. Even if he treated Kentou, if he let him bleed out while doing so, the man would die. Kentou had already lost a significant amount of blood, and they couldn't afford to let the veteran ninja lose any more.
With the bleeding stopped, Ryo began the emergency surgery. The cut had hit the intestines, slicing them in some places. Ryo had to suture them back together, but the environment and the location were not suitable for this. Nonetheless, he would do it."The major organs are still intact. The intestines were torn in two broad sections. I have to clean the inside of the wound, and then I can start stitching them back together."
He remained calm as he analyzed the situation. His hands moved with remarkable precision, with an agility that rivaled even the most advanced surgical machines in the modern world. With a needle in his hand, he began stitching while using another type of bladeless scissors to hold the intestines in place.
After completing the first set of stitches, blood began to flow again from the wound, and Ryo had to use one of his hands to stop the bleeding once more. The boy didn't even blink as he continued the operation with precision and calmness.
The Anbu who had been accompanying Ryo observed the situation around them to ensure everything was safe. After a few seconds, he shifted his gaze to Ryo, seeing the young boy tending to Kentou, performing surgery on the man by himself, without anyone else's help.
"He remains calm and demonstrates excellent precision even in such a situation," the Anbu thought as he watched the surgery being performed. The Anbu knew that Ryo had trained with Kentou for a long time, but there was a world of difference between training and actually performing surgery, yet the boy, from what the Anbu knew about medical ninjas, was handling it well.
During the process, Ryo noticed that the smaller wounds were beginning to worsen. Even though there was little blood flowing from them, there were still many small, clean cuts from shurikens or kunais thrown at Kentou.
"If the Hokage doesn't want me to reveal this to others, it's better if you handle the people around," Ryo said to the Anbu while a coin began to appear in the air. Seeing this, the Anbu quickly formed a hand seal, and a dome of water appeared around them.
Ryo hadn't expected this, but he continued his work, suturing the main wound. He quickly surveyed the other significant minor wounds. The golden coin began to dissipate into several thin golden lines, which began to pierce Kentou's skin at the adjacent wounds. At the same time, Ryo could taste a faint hint of blood in his mouth.
Ignoring this, the golden lines closed the more severe minor wounds. Ryo could feel his chakra being spent at an alarming rate. He had closed five constant-bleeding wounds and felt he would use 15% of his chakra every minute to keep the golden lines in shape, closing the wounds.
The situation was already a race against time, but it had just become more intense. He had a little less than six minutes to finish closing the large wound, or else he would run out of chakra.
Ryo worked intensely, grabbing another set of threads to make more stitches. He managed to reconnect all the cut parts of Kentou's intestines, but he still had to close the main abdominal wound. Five minutes had passed already, and Ryo felt his chakra reserves dangerously low.
His body was on high alert, switching to start stitching the main wound, but the time limit was almost up. He already felt slightly dizzy from chakra exhaustion, shaking his head from side to side, Ryo remained focused out of sheer determination."Just a little more, Kentou-sensei!"
Ryo's hands were no longer as steady as before. After making the first stitches, he had to start undoing the golden lines one by one; he wouldn't be able to close the main wound in time if he didn't. He was breathing heavily, and he could feel Kentou's breath improving slightly but becoming weaker due to all the blood loss. Ryo was on the last few steps, making the final stitch in the large wound before looking aside and coughing heavily.
The white mask on his face began to turn red. The nearly total absence of chakra in Ryo's body was a significant problem. "Hang in there, kid; support has arrived!" As soon as the Anbu said this, the water dome disappeared, and three ninjas leaped into their vicinity. The golden lines had dissipated in time, with the coins returning to Ryo.
As the three ninjas arrived, Ryo raised his head, seeing that two of them were real medical ninjas. His vision was already blurring, but Ryo held on for a few more seconds, speaking with a weak voice. "He lost too... much blood. I close... the main wound. Not the other... cuts." After saying this, Ryo, now weakened, tried to point to the locations.
But as soon as he raised his arm, his vision darkened. The almost total lack of chakra in his body finally hit Ryo hard, and he fell to the ground. And it wasn't just that; all the heavy factors came to him as he knew he could relax, the unexpected surgery, Kentou being the one who was almost dying. Spending all his chakra to stop the bleeding, everything weighed heavily on Ryo mind.
But one thing he knew: Kentou could be saved now.
He had done his job as best as he could, and even though he had prepared himself for surgery, it just wasn't the kind he had expected. The two medical ninjas swiftly evaluated Kentou's condition and immediately began their work. The Anbu quickly briefed them on the situation, informing them that the boy had passed out due to chakra depletion and instructing them to prioritize treating Kentou. With that, the Anbu gathered Ryo from the ground and vanished from the scene using the Body Flicker Technique.
