"Are you mocking me?"
"Huh? You just realized…" Aldrich placed his palm over his mouth, displaying a surprised expression.
Arthur seethed with anger, veins throbbing in his forehead. He clenched his fist and glared at Aldrich with murderous intent.
"Two days later, meet us at C-rank dungeon, Hobgoblin Fortress," he said and left without waiting for Aldrich's reply.
Aldrich appeared nonchalant as he stood and left the place.
The hotel he was staying in was near the association and was a property owned by the association as well.
"That guy is dull. How did he even survive?" Aldrich thought as he looked up.
He could sense someone's presence. William was observing them from the CCTV camera in the room.
'My senses are sharper than his.' He left the hotel and arrived at a place where he had previously lived.
On the outskirts of the city, he resided in a small apartment.
He entered the room and felt nostalgic. "It hasn't been long since I left. But dust has already accumulated here." There was a thick layer of dust around the room.
The bed was messy, the room wasn't cleaned, and even the clothes were scattered all over the place. The kitchen was filled with utensils left to be cleaned.
He walked over to the bed and picked up the picture that was on the table.
There were two people in the picture: a young Aldrich and a girl beside him.
"Aria," he muttered. "I am going to have revenge." His face was filled with sorrow and determination. "Your death will be avenged at last."
He laid on the bed as he reminisced about the day.
Five years ago, Aldrich graduated from high school. He was about to enter university.
But on that day, the world faced a huge earthquake. Across the continent, strong earthquakes struck, destroying buildings and killing millions of people.
Fortunately, Aldrich's family survived, but dungeons appeared.
Monsters that were never seen or heard of, monsters that were only in the realm of fiction, monsters that were stronger than anything in the world emerged from these dungeons.
Aldrich's parents died while helping Aldrich and his little sister, Aria, escape.
The two siblings moved continuously through the ruined lands, scavenging for food. Aldrich's happy life was ruined by these monsters.
So, he yearned to destroy the monsters forever…
Years passed. Aldrich didn't know how he survived. Food was delivered by the military.
Monsters were defeated by Supers, and a safe zone was built.
Three years ago, the world was somewhat at peace.
Aldrich and Aria lived in Outskirts City I.
They were both leading a somewhat happy life.
But... At that time, Supers were more rampant than they are now. They didn't consider normal humans as human at all, but as insects and slaves.
They took girls at their will, killed anyone who offended them, and lived prosperous lives.
Like many other girls, Aria was taken by a Super one day.
Aldrich searched for Aria the whole day but found her body lying near the small forest in the city.
Her naked body, filled with scars, looked horrendous. Aldrich buried her body, in shock.
His only family member was killed brutally. It didn't take long for him to find out the Super who took her was... Arthur.
Aldrich went to the Association for justice. But what he got was nothing more than a look of disgust from the Super and a beating from the guards.
There was really no justice in this land... Aldrich was obsessed with power from that day.
Power...
He worked hard, saved money, and finally bought a Skill.
He spent 10-18 hours in the dungeon just because he wanted to get stronger than anyone else in the world.
"I want to change the world..." That was his goal.
To be the one who will rule this world...
…
Two days passed in a blink. Aldrich explored the D-rank dungeon of Orc and gathered as many orc shamans as possible. He also upgraded himself to the peak of D-rank.
He also finally got the Orc boss as his undead.
[Undead Orc Wizard]
[Trait: Undead]
[Species: Orc]
[Title: Black Wizard]
[Mana: 5000/5000]
[Skill: (Death Mist), (Sharp Bullets), (Berserk Warriors)]
[Death Mist: Takes 100 Mana per minute to fill the area of 30m with death mist. The death mist limits the strength of the living. 20% decrease in strength and defense, 25% decrease in speed and stamina, and sucks 10% life and mana per minute.]
[Sharp Bullets: Summons magical bullets that can penetrate strong defenses of enemies. Consume 25 mana per cast.]
[Berserk Warriors: Provides a buff to allies (Max: 20). Consumes 200 mana per minute. Increases strength, defense, and speed by 25%.]
There were 25 Orc bosses in the team. Aldrich wanted to have more, but he was pressed for time.
The next day, it was time to meet with Arthur. He equipped the C-rank equipment.
A modern armor made entirely of Trianium, a metal found in special dungeons. Its defense is on par with a C-rank monster.
It's sleek, smooth, and futuristic-looking. There's even an interface which shows health, mana, and the status of the one wearing it.
If mana is input into the suit, a barrier will appear that can block attacks from C-rank monsters for more than 10 minutes.
If mana is input and one runs, then the speed will be doubled for 5 minutes.
In a sense, the armor is pretty cool and useful. But it requires mana to work. If mana is exhausted, then the armor's effects cannot be used.
[Hobgoblin Fortress]
The area was empty. There were three people waiting near the dungeon. As Aldrich approached, they glanced at him.
Among the three people, one was a girl, and the other two were burly guys.
One was a tall, muscular guy carrying a sword. His face bore scars and he looked quite terrifying.
Next to him was another muscular man, carrying a golden shield. He had a pretty cool demeanor.
The girl was petite. Her body was slim, and she wore breastplates and armor to cover her vulnerable areas. In short, apart from the armor around her chest and lower body, only around her thighs to waist, she wore no other clothes.
Her black hair swayed in the wind. Her face looked pretty, but there was a hint of coldness. She carried a dagger.
"You are late," the man with the sword said. "You made us wait 5 minutes."
"So?" Aldrich cocked his head. "Even Arthur hasn't come."
"Don't compare yourself with Lord Arthur. He's the strongest Super. A man worthy of respect who protects this city every day!"
"Seriously…" Aldrich was astonished. 'He must be busy with some girls. This guy looks tough but stupid and loyal.' Aldrich lost interest in this guy.
"Don't mind him," the shield guy said kindly. "He's just a fan of Arthur."
"Call him lord!" the sword guy shouted.
"My name is Roland. This is Arthan. What's yours?" The shield guy, Roland, ignored the sword guy, Arthan, and introduced himself like a gentleman.
"I am Aldrich." Aldrich pointed at the girl. "Who's she?"
"She's... Artha. She's Arthan's sister. She's kind of cold and doesn't like to speak." Roland had an awkward smile on his face.
"She's been like that since childhood. Don't mind her," Arthan said.
"Oh..." Aldrich didn't react much and waited for Arthur.
In a luxury car, Arthur arrived after 10 minutes. As he exited, one could catch a glimpse of a blond girl, the same girl who was in Arthur's lap when meeting Aldrich.
She was naked. Her eyes looked lifeless, and she looked broken. Arthur deliberately closed the door slowly to show Aldrich the woman.
His face was full of pride. Aldrich only felt disgust, nothing else seeing him. He didn't care about the girl as she was no one to him.
"Everyone's here, it seems," Arthur spoke. He was wearing similar armor to Aldrich's and had a spear in his hand.
"Now, shall we prepare a strategy?"
