Capítulo 112: Chapter 112: Searching for Noble Phantasms

Shinji's goal was precisely the four Noble Phantasms that Gilgamesh had discarded.

When he read the novel, he couldn't help but think, "Gilgamesh, you spendthrift, if you don't want them, I'll gladly take them."

Saber's "Invisible Air" and Rider's "Gordius Wheel" could only cause superficial injuries to the Sea Demon. But when the four Noble Phantasms were unleashed simultaneously, it annihilated one-third of the Sea Demon's power. This demonstrated the immense destructive power of these four Noble Phantasms.

Whether it was similar to "Gáe Bolg" with its special attack against magical creatures, or city-level Noble Phantasms that didn't require their true names to be released to unleash their power, the ranking of these four Noble Phantasms would not be lower than C, and perhaps even reach B. If Gilgamesh was out of his mind, an A-rank was not out of the question.

Perhaps in the eyes of Gilgamesh, the richest man in history, these four Noble Phantasms were just four inconspicuous items among his countless collections. Discarding them meant nothing to him. But to Shinji, they were entirely new trump cards.

Of course, Noble Phantasms cannot be obtained or given away at will. As the ace of the Heroic Spirits, they are treasures intimately connected to the legend and existence of the Heroic Spirit. In the world where Shinji exists, there are only three ways for unrelated individuals to obtain ownership of his Noble Phantasms, and each condition is quite demanding.

The first method is similar to the protagonist Mash Kyrielight in the game "Fate/Grand Order," where she becomes a container, bearing the Heroic Spirit and becoming a pseudo-Servant. In this way, the container can obtain the Heroic Spirit's Noble Phantasms, abilities, and even experiences.

However, this method carries high risks. From the moment the container establishes a connection with the Throne of Heroes, it loses its autonomy. The summoned Heroic Spirit can choose whether or not to possess the container according to their own will, and after possession, they can decide whether to transfer control to the original owner of the body. If control is relinquished, the human host can use the power of the Heroic Spirit according to their own will. Successful examples include Mash Kyrielight and El-Melloi II (Waver), who respectively obtained the powers of Galahad and Zhuge Liang. If control is not relinquished, the personalities of the Heroic Spirit and the original person merge, creating a new personality. However, due to the overwhelming strength of the Heroic Spirit's soul compared to that of a human, the new personality is dominated by the Heroic Spirit, with the original personality as a secondary influence. There are no direct cases of this, but a similar example is Ishtar, the goddess of Venus, possessing Rin Tohsaka. Ishtar's personality accounts for 70%, while Rin's accounts for 30%. Rin is already considered quite strong-willed among humans, and the situation would be even worse with other people.

However, when looking at all the works of Type-Moon, the technology to create pseudo-Servants is only mastered by Chaldea in the world of "Fate/Grand Order," and it is not yet mature. Other pseudo-servants are born through fortuitous circumstances (money-grabbing) and do not possess replicability.

Shinji's situation falls into this category as well. It is a fortuitous connection to the Throne of Heroes, but this "Divine Descend" is not complete. Perseus himself did not descend; only Perseus' Noble Phantasms were summoned.

The second method involves possessing special skills or Noble Phantasms that allow the theft of the opponent's Noble Phantasms, such as Lancelot's "Knight of Owner: A Knight Does Not Die with Empty Hands," or the "Usurper of the Wind of Heaven" of the Avenger in "Fate/strange fake."

The third method involves the transfer of Noble Phantasms between Servants, which requires fulfilling four conditions: "no conflicting wills and forming a contract," "no need for equivalent technical prowess when releasing the true name," "the transferring party has a relevant anecdote for lending the Noble Phantasm," and "the receiving party has a relevant anecdote for borrowing the Noble Phantasm."

Shinji plans to combine the second and third methods. Although the ownership of the Noble Phantasms currently lies with Gilgamesh, once Lancelot touches these Noble Phantasms with "Knight Does Not Die with Empty Hands," the ownership will transfer to Lancelot, and then Lancelot can transfer them to Shinji.

However, Shinji is not sure if the transfer will be successful. He doesn't know if the Noble Phantasms seized by Lancelot with "Knight Does Not Die with Empty Hands" meet the transfer standards. In the first battle between Lancelot and Gilgamesh, when Lancelot grasped and then released the Noble Phantasms, they eventually returned to Gilgamesh's treasury.

He doesn't know if Lancelot has the relevant anecdote for lending the Noble Phantasms. Despite reading many books on this topic in his past and present life, he has not found a clear and reliable record.

He doesn't know if he can be the recipient of the transfer. Although he has the experience of successfully obtaining a Noble Phantasm, Perseus, the source of the Noble Phantasm, also has a relevant anecdote for borrowing Noble Phantasms. However, he is ultimately not a Servant but a slightly special human.

Even so, Shinji decides to give it a try. His reasoning is still the same: if it succeeds, he gains a lot; if it fails, there is no loss. Only a fool wouldn't try.

Upon receiving Shinji's message, Kariya, hiding in the shadows, glares at the "Vimana" in the sky and gives a command to his Berserker in the spiritual state to infiltrate the riverbed and search for the abandoned Noble Phantasms of Archer.

Kariya is well aware that his Berserker is strong against humans but struggles against large monsters. Joining the battle recklessly would not be effective and would only burden himself. Remaining hidden in the shadows is the best choice.

Although he cannot see through Shinji's thoughts, his nephew, who is cunning despite his young age, often exceeds his expectations. Kariya is willing to believe in Shinji.

The spiritual state is not influenced by physical matter, and the Berserker silently sneaks into the Fuyuki River, not causing any ripples.

He walks along the riverbed toward the center of the river, skillfully avoiding the tentacles lurking beneath the water's surface. The Sea Demon's body is not just the flesh on the river's surface; there are even larger foundations beneath the unseen river surface. The Sea Demon, containing terrifying magical power, can also inflict harm on a Servant in the spiritual state.

On the extension line between Vimana and the Sea Demon, two beautifully crafted swords and two gleaming spears are quietly embedded in the riverbed. The tentacles that rampage everywhere seem to fear these four Noble Phantasms, which contain immense power.

Ripples of immense size spread out in circles above Berserker's head, and the bright silver greaves tread upon the water's surface as Berserker moves forward, fearlessly charging towards the nearby Sea Demon.

Berserker's movements come to a halt, and two points of red light shine through the fully enclosed helmet that covers his head, following the ripples.

"Ah—"

A voice filled with resentment and curses resonates within Berserker's Saint Graph, and in that instant, the dark knight solidifies into a physical form.

Magical energy, the same color as the armor, surges upward, carrying with it a murderous intent and frenzy.

Just as the murderous intent is about to burst out of the water's surface, Kariya's voice is transmitted to Berserker's ears through their contract.

"Retrieve the Noble Phantasm and return immediately."

The command from the Master carries a compelling force, halting Berserker's frenzy. The murderous intent gradually subsides, and the terrifying red light within the helmet dims.

The dark knight mechanically extracts one sword after another and holds them under his arms, dragging them back to his Master's location.

From beginning to end, no one notices the arrival and departure of the seventh Servant, just as he intended. Like his actions before, he conceals his identity, ventures out incognito, and keeps his achievements hidden.

P.S.: The process of Zhuge Liang possessing Waver Velvet was not explained, but Ishtar leaning forward in Rin's body was mentioned. In Chapter 7 of "Fate/Grand Order," the Temple of Babylon summons the guardian deity Ishtar, but at that time, humans and gods had already parted ways. Ishtar couldn't manifest in her true form, so she pulled a girl from a distant timeline with the closest wavelength to Ishtar and fused her divine essence with Ishtar, becoming the new Ishtar, Rin.

P.S.2: In "Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya," there is a special method called "Magical Girl Summoning," but that is a completely different world line from the main Fate storyline where Shinji is located, so it is not within the scope of this discussion.
