The creatures lunged at us, their snarls echoing through the forest as they emerged from the shadows. I reacted instinctively, raising my hands and summoning the purple flames that danced at my fingertips. The flames roared to life, casting an eerie glow on the feral creatures.
"Stay back!" I shouted to the driver, who had frozen in fear.
With a swift motion, I sent a torrent of fire towards the nearest creature. It howled in pain as the flames engulfed it, the acrid smell of burning fur filling the air. But the others were undeterred, their glowing eyes fixed on us with relentless hunger.
I continued to hurl flames at the creatures, but their numbers seemed endless. The driver finally snapped out of his stupor and grabbed a spear from the carriage, jabbing at any creature that got too close. Despite our efforts, the creatures pressed on, their attacks becoming more coordinated and ferocious.
