After dropping the things at the store, she turned back but surprisingly the door was jammed!
The door was supposed to stay open, and she'd been careful to leave it ajar. But now, the heavy door was shut tight, and there was no one around to hear her if she called out.
Panic started to creep in, but she forced herself to stay calm.
She tried to remember if she'd seen anyone nearby when she entered the store.
"Hello?" She called out, her voice wavering slightly as it bounced off the bare walls. She waited, straining to hear any response. Silence. She tried again, louder this time. "Is anyone out there? I'm stuck!"
She fumbled for her phone, her fingers trembling as she pulled it from her bag.
A sharp pang of frustration hit her when she saw the blank screen…dead. Of all the times for her phone to run out of battery, this had to be the worst. She cursed under her breath, slipping it back into her bag.
