Tao Qi's blood turned to ice as an overwhelming chill enveloped him from behind. Every fiber of his being screamed that if he remained in this spot, death would surely claim him.

He immediately leaped away, distancing himself several meters from where he had been standing atop the two fallen disciples. The ground where he once stood flashed and solidified into an icy tomb before the mysterious being tenderly caressed it, shattering the frozen prison into a flurry of crystalline shards.

"You're surprisingly aware for someone so arrogant." The sweet, melodious voice was a stark contrast to the near-fatal attack just seconds prior.

Tao Qi shuddered as remnant shards of ice wormed their way beneath his skin, a brutal reminder of how narrowly he had evaded death's cold embrace.
