The moment Adeline was sure he'd walked further enough, she quietly stepped out of the room and watched his back with her teeth biting onto her bottom lip.
As if Caesar could tell, he whipped his head to catch a glimpse of her, but Adeline instinctively rushed back into the room, slamming the door shut and locking it.
Caesar lingered for a breath before a deep sigh fled his nose. He left the mansion, leaving Adeline under the protection of his bodyguards.
His words could not stop echoing in Adeline's head. She was hurting this man, and she knew. But what could she do? She couldn't seem to bring herself to stand before him.
Her mind wasn't in the right state, and she needed a few days more before she could muster up the courage. She'd need to make up her mind.
