Capítulo 201: -199- Rules that target Hori?

At this point, the rules and content of this special exam are basically clear.

Although it seems complex, as Mashima Tomonari said, it's not difficult to understand if you think it through.

First, the duration of this special exam is three days, with a completely free day in between, making a total of four days, coinciding with the end of this cruise trip.

In this special exam, the school will divide all first-year students into twelve zodiac groups, ensuring each group consists of a mix of students from all classes, but they can work together as partners.

The number of students in each group varies slightly depending on the group.

For example, Hori and his group's Rabbit Group has fourteen members, with three students each from Classes A and B, and four students each from Classes C and D.

Next, each group will have one student assigned as the VIP.

The VIP will be informed of their identity after 8:00 AM tomorrow.

Then, during the school-designated time and place, each group must hold discussions lasting one hour each.

The content of the discussions is up to the group.

However, the essence of the discussions has two main points:

1. The student selected as the VIP and their class must do their utmost to hide the VIP's identity.

2. Students not selected as the VIP must strive to identify the VIP within the group.

Ultimately, there are only four possible outcomes.

1. The VIP shares their identity with the entire group, and they work together to pass the exam. All members, except those from the VIP's class, write the correct answer and submit it to the school. The VIP will receive one million personal points, and the other group members will each receive 500,000 personal points.

2. The VIP successfully hides their identity until the end of the exam, winning 500,000 personal points.

3. The VIP is identified, and a group member submits the correct answer to the school before the exam ends. The class of the student who answered correctly will gain 50 class points, and the student will receive 500,000 personal points. The VIP's class will lose 50 class points.

4. The VIP is not identified, but a group member submits an incorrect answer. The class of the student who answered incorrectly will lose 50 class points. The VIP will receive 500,000 personal points, and their class will gain 50 class points.

These four outcomes lead to countless considerations.

To achieve the first outcome, where "the VIP's identity is shared with the entire group, and the exam is passed," the VIP must wait until 9:00 PM on the fourth day of the exam to reveal their identity, allowing the group to submit the correct answer between 9:30 PM and 10:00 PM.

However, this is extremely difficult.

Even if the VIP successfully hides their identity and reveals it after the exam ends at 9:00 PM, there is still a 30-minute window until the answer submission period ends at 9:30 PM.

During this time, early submissions are allowed.

Thus, if anyone betrays the group, the VIP not only loses personal points but also causes their class to lose points.

This is exactly what other classes would want to see.

Therefore, the first outcome offers the highest reward but is also the hardest to achieve.

The second outcome, where "no one answers correctly, or no one answers at all," is arguably the simplest. The VIP just needs to keep their identity hidden throughout.

Unfortunately, the school has scheduled two one-hour discussion sessions each day.

During these discussions, students in the group will undoubtedly test each other.

In discussions involving at least fourteen people, successfully hiding one's identity requires exceptional perseverance, mental fortitude, and skill. Otherwise, a single probe, like the one Totsuka Yahiko faced, could expose the VIP, making the effort futile.

Among the four outcomes, this one is undoubtedly the easiest to achieve.

As long as there isn't a clear identification method like the key cards in the deserted island special exam, students will likely be hesitant to take the risk.

If they aren't confident in their guess, they will hesitate to submit an early answer.

Moreover, hiding one's identity is undeniably easier than sharing it, making this outcome the most achievable.

As for the third and fourth outcomes, they are straightforward.

If the VIP's true identity is discovered and a correct answer is submitted before 9:30 PM on the fourth day, the exam can end at any time. The class of the student who submitted the answer will gain 50 class points, and the student will receive 500,000 personal points.

If someone mistakenly believes they have identified the VIP and submits an incorrect answer, the class of the student who submitted the answer will lose 50 class points. The VIP will receive personal points as a reward, and their class will gain class points.

The former is a result everyone wants to achieve.

The latter is a result everyone wants to avoid.

To achieve the desired outcome, both the VIP and the group members must think and act strategically.

As Mashima Tomonari said, this exam heavily tests one's thinking ability.

Moreover, this exam holds greater opportunities and risks than the deserted island exam.

What kind of opportunities and risks?

The opportunity to overturn class rankings.

And the risk of being overturned.

After all, with twelve groups, there are twelve outcomes.

If a class wins in all twelve groups, they could gain 600 class points and six million personal points.

If a class loses in all twelve groups, they would lose 600 class points.

If Class D wins all the outcomes, they could immediately rise to Class A.

Conversely, if Class A loses all the outcomes, they could fall to Class D.

Of course, both results are extremely unlikely.

But at least the possibility exists.

Therefore, the rules for this special exam are stricter than those for the deserted island exam.

"The prohibited actions and rules are detailed here. Be sure to confirm them carefully."

Following Mashima Tomonari's reminder, Hori also checked the prohibited actions.

For example, stealing someone else's phone or threatening others to confirm the VIP's identity are considered criminal acts and are prohibited. Using someone else's phone to submit answers without permission will result in immediate expulsion.

Students falsely claiming to have been threatened or had their phone stolen will also face expulsion.

Additionally, the school prohibits any copying, forwarding, or altering of emails sent by the school.

If students alter the school's emails to deceive others, they will also be punished.

In other words, the school's email is the only method that can be 100% used to confirm the VIP's identity.

What can be said?

Hori felt that these rules seemed to be targeting him.

After all, during the deserted island special exam, Hori had stolen Ryuen Kakeru's key card and disguised his own key card to confirm the leaders of other classes and hide his own identity.

Now, these methods are all prohibited.

What malicious intent.
