Capítulo 38: Ch. 36 - New Quest

[You have entered Diglett's Cave]

'Yes, I just need to catch a few more Pokemon. I can get Diglett from the cave and some other Pokemon from 'Route 2', where the other entrance of 'Diglett's Cave' is located.'

With that in mind, I descended into the cave.

{Image Of Diglett's Cave}

The inside of the cave was similar to 'Mt. Moon', but the difference was that 'Mt. Moon' was more open and had more space, while 'Diglett's Cave' was just a narrow pathway surrounded by rocks.

Moving into the cave, I started heading towards the other side of the cave.

Zubat Lv. 17 <Caught> x2 Poke Ball

[Zubat's data was added to the PokeDEX.]

[Zubat was transferred to PC Box in Dipper's PC]

[Ponyta gains 132 EXP. Points]

Here, I forgot to keep count of how many Pokemon I have caught, or I would have realized that I have already caught 30 Pokemon.

But I didn't check the PokeDEX nor keep track of how many Pokemon I have caught.

Diglett Lv. 22 <Caught> x5 Poke Ball

[Diglett's data was added to the PokeDEX.]

[Diglett was transferred to PC Box in Dipper's PC]

[Ponyta gains 208 EXP. Points]

Diglett Lv. 16 <Defeated>

[Ponyta gains 151 EXP. Points]

Moving through the narrow cave, I reached the end where a ladder was located. Climbing the ladder, I emerged in front of the entrance of 'Diglett's Cave'.

Exiting the cave, I was now in an open area.

[You have entered Route 2]

After exiting 'Diglett's Cave', I looked around and soon found what I was looking for, the Tall Grass. But to get to the Tall Grass, I needed to get past the boundary of wooden fences and the only way to do that was to cut a Small Tree.

"Fuck, I didn't bring Oddish with me." I forgot that I needed to cut a Small Tree to get to the Tall Grass on 'Route 2'.

"Fortunately, I have Abra with me."

I can use Abra to go back to the Pokemon Center and get Oddish.

"*Sigh* More work" I said as I used Teleport to go back to the Pokemon Center in 'Vermilion City'.

[You have entered Vermilion City]

Moving to Nurse Joy to get my Pokemon healed, I then walked up to the PC.

As I opened the PC Box, I was greeted by numerous miniature versions of the Pokemon I caught.

I was momentarily distracted by the sight of them, but I quickly got back to the task I came for.

Since I need to have Abra on my team to use Teleport, as well as Hoothoot and Ponyta to level up, that leaves me with Weepinbell, Charmeleon, and Rhyhorn.

After thinking for a while, I switched Rhyhorn with Oddish and closed the PC.

"*Sigh* Now I've got to walk back to 'Route 2'." I said in annoyance as I started heading toward 'Diglett's Cave'.

[You have entered Diglett's Cave]

Since this time I don't have to focus on catching Pokemon, I took out my Bicycle and started riding it through the cave.

It was so much faster to ride the Bicycle than to Run or Walk.

To my utmost surprise, I didn't encounter any wild Pokemon throughout the ride.

Getting down from the Bicycle and putting it back in my backpack, I climbed the ladder and exited 'Diglett's Cave'.

[You have entered Route 2]

After getting back to where I was, I went to the Small Tree which was blocking the way to the other side of 'Route 2' where a section of Tall Grass is.

In the heat of the moment, I even forgot to try to get the quest for cutting Small Tree, but everything turned out fine as, just as I got closer to the Small Tree to cut it, a notification came.

*Ding*

[New Quest]

[<Accept> <Reject>]

"Shit, I forgot about the quest." I said as I looked at the quest.

'I almost lost this quest; I should be more careful in the future.'

Pressing <Accept> to accept the quest, I got closer to the Small Tree to use <Cut>.

[This tree looks like it can be CUT down!]

[Would you like to CUT it?]

[<Yes> <No>]

"Yes, cut it down" I said as I pressed <Yes>.

[The effect of this action is permanent and will affect the quests of other players.]

[Do you still want to proceed?]

[<Yes> <No>]

I was again going to press <Yes> when I stopped.

"Wait, If I cut down this Small Tree then won't other players be able to get to this side of 'Route 2'?"

"And if they can get to this side, then they will have access to 'Diglett's Cave', which will allow them to get to 'Vermilion City', and from 'Vermilion City', they can get to 'Cerulean City'."

"Then players will be able to bypass the Bottleneck called 'Mt. Moon'."

The realization of this stopped me as I began to ponder whether I should cut down this Small Tree or not.

"Let's calculate what will happen if I cut down this Small Tree"

"So, If I cut down this Small Tree, then players will be able to get to 'Vermilion City' using 'Diglett's Cave', and from 'Vermilion City', they can get to 'Cerulean City' using the 'Underground Path'."

"It will essentially allow players to bypass 'Mt. Moon', where every other player is currently stuck."

"Once players get to 'Vermilion City', they will surely explore the surroundings and reach 'Cerulean City'."

"Wait, did I already cut down the Small Tree which was blocking 'Route 9'?"

"So, Now if players reach 'Cerulean City', then they can also get to 'Rock Tunnel' to get to 'Lavender City', though I highly doubt that players will be able to cross 'Rock Tunnel' when they were not even able to cross 'Mt. Moon'."

"In short, if I cut down this Small Tree, then players will reach 'Vermilion City', but since I have already done everything that I needed to do in 'Vermilion City', it doesn't matter to me whether players get to 'Vermilion City' or not."

"Some players will try to explore the surroundings, but I am sure the NPC trainers will be more than enough to stop them. Especially if anyone tries to get to 'Rock Tunnel' through 'Route 9' which is full of NPC trainers."

"In conclusion even if I cut down this Small Tree, it wouldn't affect my progress in any way."

"I guess I can also do some good deeds and help players bypass their bottleneck."

After deciding, I pressed <Yes>.

[Oddish used <Cut>]

Oddish appeared and used its leaves to cut down the Small Tree, and after cutting it down, it went back in its Poke Ball.

I pressed <Yes>.

[You got ₽9,999 from the Random Box]

"Just money, though it is a large amount, I am still a bit disappointed."

After looking at the notification, I crossed the boundary of wooden fences and moved to the other side of 'Route 2'

After getting to the other side, I immediately entered the Tall Grass.

'I think I have also caught all types of Pokemon that could be found on 'Route 2'.'

"How many more do I need to catch?" I said as I took out the PokeDEX to check my progress.

[DIPPER - Issued 20XX-02-02

PokeDEX - 34

Money - ₽38,239

Max Obedience - Lv. 37

<Gym Badges>

1 - [Boulder Badge]

2 - [Cascade Badge]

3 - [Thunder Badge]]

"Wait, What??? I already caught 34 Pokemon."

"That means I had already got 30 Pokemon when I was in 'Diglett's Cave', so I didn't had to come back here or cut down the Small Tree."

"If only I had checked my PokeDEX, then I wouldn't have wasted so much of my time."

After finding out that I had already caught 30+ Pokemon, I made my way back to the other side of 'Route 2', where the entrance to 'Diglett's Cave' is.

The reason for getting to the other side of 'Route 2' is to investigate the lone house near 'Diglett's Cave'.

'Before, I was focused on catching Pokemon, but now I can go inside and take a look' I thought as I entered the lone house on 'Route 2'.

Inside were two NPCs, one was wearing a lab coat, while the other one was using a device similar to a handheld console to play games.

"A fainted Pokemon just has no energy left to battle. It can still use moves like <Cut> outside of battle." said the NPC wearing a lab coat.

"I'm looking for a Pokemon, Abra. Wanna trade one for my Mr. Mime?" said the other NPC who was holding a game console in his hands.

[Do you want to trade Abra for Mr. Mime?]

[<Yes> <No>]

I already have a Mr. Mime, so I pressed <No>.

"Awww! Oh, well..." said the NPC.

I don't believe that this is all there is to the lone house.

I looked around the house, but I didn't find anything.

"I guess I was wrong" I said as I exited the house.

Just as I exited the house, my eyes fell on a Small Tree in the distance.

'Since I don't think I will be returning back here, I should get the most out of it while I am here.' I thought as I moved towards the Small Tree to get another quest.

[New Quest]

[Quest - No Viridian Forest 3 {Unique}

Description - A Small Tree is blocking the path which allows people to bypass the 'Viridian Forest'. Because of the Small Tree, people had to go through 'Viridian Forest' to get to the other side of 'Route 2'. Find a way to cut the Small Tree and open the path.

Reward - 1x Random Box

Deadline - Until someone else cuts the Small Tree.

Failure - None]

[<Accept> <Reject>]

"3? What does it mean by 3?"

After thinking, the only conclusion I came up with is that there might be other Small Tresses on 'Route 2' which blocks the connection between the two sides of 'Route 2'.

After coming up with a rational explanation of why there is a '3' in the quest name, I pressed <Accept> and used <Cut>.

[This tree looks like it can be CUT down!]

[Would you like to CUT it?]

[<Yes> <No>]

I pressed <Yes>.

[The effect of this action is permanent and will affect the quests of other players.]

[Do you still want to proceed?]

[<Yes> <No>]

"Yes" I said as I pressed <Yes>.

After I pressed <Yes>, Oddish appeared and cut down the tree.

[Oddish used <Cut>]
