Capítulo 10: Ch. 09 - To Pewter City

After walking for some time, I was in front of yet another sign that reads:

<ROUTE 2>

<Viridian City - Pewter City>

[You have entered 'Route 2']

{Image Of Route 2}

After reading the sign, I continued heading north.

On the way, I reached a section of tall grass that I could have avoided by walking around it. However, I chose to go through it in the hope of finding any useful Pokemon to catch.

To my disappointment, I encountered only two Pokemon, Rattata of Lv. 3 and Pidgey of Lv. 6. I quickly defeated both of them using Charmander, and wasting no more time, I continued on my way.

After walking for a short while, I was in front of a building with a giant gate, walking into the building, I was greeted by empty space and a large corridor that connects to another giant gate.

After exiting the building from the second gate, I was inside a forest.

[You have entered 'Viridian Forest']

Looking at the notification of the system, I started making my way deeper into the forest.

Since I knew the path to the 'Pewter City', I kept walking until I was in front of a giant tree. From there I started making my way to the west of the forest.

Along the way, I encountered a Pidgey Lv. 6, which I defeated using Charmander.

As I was walking, I noticed a boy standing in the tall grass, looking in my direction. I knew that he was one of those NPCs that would force you into a Pokemon battle the moment they saw you.

I chose to move out of his line of sight and continue heading west until an open area to my left appeared.

After turning left, I started making my way to the north of the forest. While walking, I chose to stay as close to the trees by the tall grass as possible to avoid any forced Pokemon battles.

During that, I encountered a Pikachu Lv. 5, which I chose to catch. It took me 3 Poke Balls to catch the Pikachu.

[Charmander grew to Lv.12]

[Charmander wants to learn the move <Dragon Breath>]

[But Charmander already knows four moves.]

[Should a move be deleted and replaced with <Dragon Breath>?]

Looking at the notification, I chose to forget the <Smoke Screen> move and learn <Dragon Breath> in its place.

[Charmander forgot how to use <Smoke Screen>]

[Charmander has learned <Dragon Breath>]

While fighting the Pikachu, the <Static> ability of Pikachu caused the Charmander to gain the status effect of Paralyze.

Moving Charmander from the front of the team and replacing it with Hoothoot, I continued.

While walking out of the tall grass, I found one Antidote on the ground.

After walking for a while, I was greeted with a wall of trees where I could choose to go to the left where tall grasses are, or I could choose to go to the right where the path was empty.

I chose to go left since the NPC trainers usually wait in empty paths for a player to come.

After many turns and walking and avoiding many forced Pokemon battles, I was almost at the end of the 'Viridian Forest'. During the walk, I encountered one Caterpie of Lv. 5 and a Hoothoot of Lv. 7, which I easily defeated using Hoothoot.

I also found a Potion while walking.

Now, I just needed to walk through the last section of the tall grass, and I will be out of the 'Viridian Forest'. While walking through the tall grass, I didn't notice an NPC hiding in the tall grass.

The moment he saw me, he said,

"Hey, wait up! What's the hurry? Why the rush?"

[You are Challenged by Bug Catcher Sammy]

And just like that I was forced into a Pokemon battle.

The trainer sent out his Weedle Lv. 9 while I sent out my Hoothoot Lv. 10

{Image Of Weedle}

Hoothoot Lv. 10 - 25/33

Weedle Lv. 9 - 100%

I chose to use <Confusion>, which was super effective and knocked the Weedle's HP to 7%. The opponent chose to use <Bug Bite>, which was not very effective and only took 4 HP points.

Hoothoot Lv. 10 - 21/33

Weedle Lv. 9 - 7%

Again, I chose to use <Confusion> to finish the Weedle.

[The Foe's Weedle fainted!]

[Hoothoot gained 95 EXP. Points]

[You have defeated Bug Catcher Sammy]

"I give! you're good at this." said Bug Catcher Sammy.

[You got ₽216 for winning!]

After defeating Bug Catcher Sammy, I continued to walk north.

I encountered two wild Hoothoots of Lv. 5, which I defeated using my Hoothoot. And just like that, I was in front of yet another sign that read:

<Leaving Viridian Forest>

<Pewter City Ahead>

Walking past the sign, I was again in front of a building with a giant door. Wasting no time, I entered the building, and there were a few NPCs in the empty corridor. I didn't interact with them and chose to exit the building from the other giant gate on the opposite side of the building.

After exiting the building, I walked on the empty road, and after 15 minutes, I reached 'Pewter City'.

[You have entered Pewter City]

{Image Of Pewter City}

The road on which I was walking turned from a dirt road to a stone road as soon as I entered 'Pewter City'.

I made my way to the Pokemon center to get my Pokemon healed.

Even though it may look easy, it was very difficult to cross the 'Viridian Forest' even after knowing the path and having a strong Pokemon. No wonder other players were not able to cross the 'Viridian Forest' yet.

After healing my Pokemon, I chose to view the information on the Pikachu that I caught.

Looking over the IVs of Pikachu, I could tell that It is not that good of a Pokemon.

'I could always catch more Pokemon. While I can take these Pokemon out and sell them to the 'Pokemon Union' for money.'

After a bit of rest, I checked my PokeDEX to see the remaining time.

Man, it took me a lot longer in 'Viridian Forest' than I expected. I only have 1 minute left.

Since, I couldn't do anything productive in 1 minute, I chose to stay sitting in the Pokemon Center until the time ran out.

Soon, I was back in the real world.
