Capítulo 8: Luna Training

Nox pecked Aylin's lips lightly, wanting to savour the feeling but knowing she didn't have the time to do so, before walking back out of the door with Duncan in tow., leaving Aylin with her new tutors, who stared at her thinly veiled curiosity.

It was Veronica who spoke first.

"A pleasure to meet you, Luna. Shall we begin with combat training?" She spoke, lowering her head respectfully in greeting.

Aylin thought a bit before answering.

"It's nice to meet you as well, Veronica. To answer your question, I'm fine with beginning with combat first, then I'll learn the history of the pack, and after that, we can brush up on my etiquette." The three nodded, their little test of the worthiness of the Luna would begin in earnest, and it all started with combat.

They headed to the training grounds, which were located beside the arena, Hayes following silently behind them.

Veronica stopped at the grounds, turning to Aylin before speaking.

"I will test your combat skills first, then formulate a program that works for you." Aylin nodded, taking a defensive stance.

Veronica lunged at Aylin, claws extended, ready to rip into flesh. Aylin dodged with ease, getting behind Veronica to launch an attack of her own. The attack was quickly dodged, and the two went at each other with a mild but not fatal bloodlust.

They fought, leaping and dodging around each other, the speed and agility advantage that Aylin had over Veronica evident in her graceful, effortless leaps around the woman. She fought with the grace of a butterfly and the speed of lightning, attacking before dodging and looking for an opportunity to strike once more, her instinct guiding her.

At the end of the fight, they were breathing heavily, and both Aylin and Veronica spotted a few minor injuries. However, a close glance could tell you that Veronica was worse off than the omega, which surprised many.

Their so-called 'test' for the future Luna had brought unexpected benefits.

The crowd that had gathered to watch the action all acknowledged the female warrior who bested Veronica, albeit by a small margin.

If this is what the girl was capable of without formal combat training, then their future Luna was powerful indeed. They instantly approved of their Alpha's mate, as the moon goddess seemed to have pulled all the stops on this one. They were a perfect match for each other.

Veronica knelt, one knee on the ground and her right hand across her chest, fingers clenched into a fist. She let a few seconds of silence drift across the training grounds before speaking.

"I apologise for my rudeness, Luna. I was wrong to question the mate bestowed upon the Alpha by the moon goddess. However, I hope that you shall allow me the honour of proceeding with coaching you on combat." She spoke, eyes trained upon the ground as the crowd looked on with awe. So this was their Luna! It was a relief to have such a strong warrior by their Alpha's side. With her strength, they did not need to worry about their Alpha, who always put the pack above all else.

They were confident that she could handle shouldering the Alpha's burden with her.

Aylin nodded, having already pieced together that they were testing her, as she expected it. It was simple, really, she just had to prove herself, which she had.

"You may rise. Also, you act as if I had no idea of your intentions." Aylin shrugged, before continuing: "Let's begin the lesson, shall we?" Aylin spoke, to which Veronica nodded, taking the time to guide Aylin through the most basic of the martial moves she had displayed during her bout with the Luna.

From the corner of her eye, she watched as their Alpha, who was standing downwind of them to avoid detection, gazed at her mate with a proud smile.

She ignored the sight, and the Alpha soon left, unbeknownst to her mate, who was following the techniques at near perfection already, absorbing the new information like a sponge.

Veronica was stunned. There was something about their Luna that made her wonder. Her instincts were too developed for someone who had nothing to do with training and she had an incredible battle sense.

Not to mention, she had a very rational mind that did not fail to aid her in analyzing and adapting to the enemy's movement pattern during the fight.

It was quite terrifying, honestly. It seemed that another monster had appeared among them, and the coincidence was that it was the true monster's mate at that.

---------------------------

Conroy's lesson on the history of the pack and diplomacy was next in line. From what he witnessed on the training ground, he had a newfound respect for the future Luna.

They sat in one of the three large libraries at the mansion as Conroy begun with the history of the pack.

"The Midnight pack has a short but glorious history." He said, continuing;

"The pack begun as a small group of rogues that lived on unclaimed territory. They were the only group of rogues that managed to have a semblance of pack life through their own strength, as well as own a portion of the unclaimed lands. However, before Alpha Nox arrived, that was all it could be.

Three centuries ago, Alpha Nox arrived on the unclaimed lands, as a rogue herself. By then, the rogues were led by Duncan, the current Beta of the pack." He paused, noting the inquisitive look the future Luna shot him.

"Yes Luna?" Conroy said, giving her leeway to speak.

"You said that the pack begun as rogues, so how were they able to keep control of the unclaimed lands?" She asked.

"Good question Luna. Like I said, they were only able to have a portion of the unclaimed lands by their own strength, which changed after your mate arrived. She united all the rogues who lived on the unclaimed lands through sheer strength and charisma. After that, she went on to negotiate with the werewolf council in order to get the group, that had significantly grown in size, recognised as a known pack.

However, in exchange for that, she is now recognised as an honorary member of the council and is supposed to do at least one task for them a year.

Alpha Nox was a blessing to us rogues, as she had no prejudice or discrimination, and thus welcomed all who would love to ally themselves with the pack, as long as they bore no ill will.

Even then, just after negotiations it was not a true pack just yet, as we had no pack borders or mind-link communication with each other through the Alpha.

However, one day, this all changed, and we became the Midnight pack, as we are known today. Only the Alpha is aware of why this changed, so you will have to ask her that yourself, Luna." He finished.

"Do you have any more questions?" He asked.

"Do you have hunts? How often are they? How do you hunt?" She asked, eyes glinting with excitement.

He laughed. This truly was the Alpha's fated. They both had the same joy in their eyes at the thought of hunting, which Alpha Nox would participate in, every chance she got, till her duties as Alpha kept her from it.

"You're in luck, Luna. The next hunt is only a week away, so you will be able to see for yourself." He spoke, dismissing the subject. He looked outside the window, noticing that it was already dinnertime.

Since the Alpha was nowhere to be seen, he offered to guide her to the Alpha's villa, an attempt that was thwarted by Hayes, who had been present, as it was his task.

Nodding, Conroy watched as his future Luna walked off to her mate's home, his hopes on the Pack's future solidified.

--------------------------

Aylin followed Hayes, glancing at the man from time to time as he silently led her through the pack houses, all the way to a modern Villa situated in what seemed to be the epicentre of the pack.

After bringing her there, he bowed, excusing himself before leaving just as silently as they came.

Aylin walked in, taking her time to admire the villa, it's modern style accentuated by a minimalist design, sleek furniture and black and white colour scheme, complete with wood finishings where possible.

She sat in the living room once she was done exploring her new home, figuring that if she headed to the bedroom, she'd likely trigger a premature heat due to the Alpha's scent.

This was especially risky since her mate was a dominant Alpha, which meant that her pheromones were significantly stronger than the average Alpha.

She decided to turn on the TV, hoping to distract herself from her mate's scent before she started nesting.

It was a full hour before she recalled that she hadn't eaten dinner yet, so she decided to rummage around in her mate's kitchen for ingredients.

Finding a well-stocked pantry and fridge, she took chicken breast and gathered the relevant ingredients to make chicken fried rice. She pulled out her phone, picking a random playlist to play on shuffle, and begun her ministrations in the kitchen.

She weaved between the counter and the relevant stations seamlessly, moving along to the music as she made two portions of food, in the off chance that her mate wanted to dine with her.

She was so preoccupied with her cooking and dancing in the kitchen that she did not register the entrance of her mate.

Nox leaned against the doorframe of the kitchen, content to gaze upon her mate's ministrations, realising that her coming late was a blessing in disguise, if this is the sight that welcomed her home.

Once she realized that her mate was done cooking, she walked up to Aylin, wrapping her arms around her omega's waist and burying her nose in her scent gland, inhaling the scent greedily.

"I'm home." Nox murmured against Aylin's neck, feeling her body slowly relax into the embrace.

Aylin was startled at first but soon settled herself in Scarlett's arms, enjoying the warmth and scent of her mate, as Aruna yipped, leaping around Nier in welcome.

"Welcome home." Aylin smiled, her smile growing wider as her mate nuzzled at her neck, taking a deep breath of her scent.

"I made you something, have you eaten already?" She asked, leaning on Scarlett's chest and looking up at her mate.

Nox had never been more glad to have rushed to get home than today. She smiled, gazing down at Aylin before speaking.

"Luckily, not yet." She said, her smile growing wider at the thought of eating her mate's cooking.

Aylin turned in Nox's arms, gazing up at her mate with a joyful smile on her face, her emerald orbs twinkling excitedly.

"That's good. Let's eat" She said, removing herself from Nox's arms, much to Nox's chagrin.

She put the food in plates and set them on the kitchen Island. Nox pulled out a chair for Aylin, seating her before taking a seat herself and tasting the food.

Her eyes widened by a fraction, a look of awe spreading across her face while a proud smile graced her lips.

"This is amazing, hun. I think you'll have to cook rarely, or I don't ever see myself dining with the others ever again." Nox said, making Aylin giggle as she flushed with pride.

'Well done, little omega' Nier spoke, licking Aruna's muzzle as Aruna yipped happily, proud that her mate praised her.

"I was meaning to ask, how was training?" Nox said, the question posed nonchalantly at Aylin, despite having first-hand knowledge on what happened.

Aylin sat up, food forgotten as she gleefully told Scarlett how she had defeated Veronica in a duel, then proceeded to how she had been praised for her incredible learning speed, and then told her what she had found out about the founding of the pack.

As she spoke animatedly, Nox listened attentively, eating as she watched her mate recount her day with childlike excitement.

When Aylin finished, Nox stood up, placing their dishes in the sink. She then grabbed Aylin by her waist, one hand tilting her omega's chin up as she claimed the sweet, plump lips that belonged to her mate.

Aylin placed her hands on Nox's chest, thoroughly exploring the soft mounds in her hands. The sensation brought out a moan from Nox, the sparks turning into tingles that travelled from her omega's fingertips to her nervous system, buzzing through her body with force, ensuring that every tingle was felt.

Nox grabbed the back of Aylin's thighs, placing her gently on the island and parting their kiss to stare at her omega.

She drank in the half lidded, misty emerald eyes, the dishevelled light brown hair, the plump, slightly pink lips that were swollen from their kissing, seemingly awestruck.

Of course I will squeeze every bit of romance in here... while I still can anyways.

I feel proud of Aylin for adapting so quickly!
