"Is there anything that I need to fix?" The blacksmith asked Rigel as he looked at the armor on Rigel's body and the long cape that covered the left side of his body.
"No, it's good enough," Rigel answered with his cold demeanor. "How much?" He glanced at the blacksmith.
"Ah! I—It's free of charge! You don't have to pay!" The blacksmith was anxious and the reason why he didn't want Rigel to pay was because he thought Rigel was dissatisfied by his work. "I just have a request. I would really appreciate it if you recommend my shop to the guild members," he added and it took all the courage he had within him.
Rigel nodded and then left the shop, making everyone in the shop sigh with relief because the atmosphere had been so heavy for them and the customers.
With the armor on Rigel's body and the cape that was blown by the wind, everyone around him averted their gazes. Rigel put the helmet on, covering his face, except for his eyes and mouth. He went straight to the Sacred Dungeon location which was the center of the city.
"(Now that I know the owner of that blacksmith shop, I think I should use that opportunity to craft my own armor with the lindworm's scales there)" Rigel thought as he looked at his surroundings where people moved aside to give him a big space to walk.
Rigel arrived at the location of the Sacred Dungeon, and it was the first time he saw it. The dungeon was like a road into the basement, and there were 2 big squared stones placed on the sides of the gate. The stones were carved with writings, where it talked about the Sacred Dungeon being actually the resting place of the great heroes that changed the world inside the tower.
The names that were written on those stones were scratched out, leaving only the floor which they were buried, preventing anyone from reading the names. The reason was that those heroes were Non-Players, the people who lived long before Players came. Basically, the Players were stealing the treasures that were buried in the dungeon.
"I think I know the gist of the origin of the tower..." Rigel muttered and then looked at the gate.
The guards opened the gate for him, and he saw a long dark hallway where torches were placed on the walls. He entered the dungeon on his own, making all the Players around him look at him with curiosity. The dungeon needed at least a group of 10 Players if they wanted to be safe, and just because it was on the 1st floor, that didn't mean the dungeon was easy. Only a few Players managed to reach the deepest part of the dungeon, and they weren't allowed to enter again after they got the final prize of clearing it.
There were a total of 20 floors below the ground, and the deeper they went, the harder the monsters were. Some were immune to physical damage, some were immune to magical damage, and some had high resistance to both physical and magical damage.
The 1st floor was filled with ghouls and goblins which all Players could easily clear it. Rigel took his time and killed as many monsters as he could, but he didn't get a single Core there.
On the 2nd floor, there were kobolds and hobgoblins, and it would make new Players have a hard time there but it was still clearable. It was the same as the 1st floor, Rigel didn't get any Core and went straight to the 3rd floor.
On the 3rd floor, there were orcs, hobgoblins, and ogres, but the hobgoblins were a lot stronger since they were bigger and more muscular. With Eclairswille and the Rapier, no matter how strong they were, they got massacred with those 2 weapons. Rigel was quite lucky to get the hobgoblin's Core, but it hadn't matured yet.
"This is quite sad for new Players since all the coffins and gravestones had been looted. They won't get anything rewarding here other than experience," Rigel looked at the coffins and gravestones that had been destroyed and messed up. "I wonder who's the real monster in this place," he said as he walked down the stairs to the 4th floor.
The difference in difficulty on the 3rd floor and the 4th floor was significant. The monsters that resided on the 4th floor were dire wolves, undead skeletons, and golems. The undead skeletons and the golems had high physical resistance while the dire wolves had strong fire and ice resistance because of the fur. But, with Eclairswille, it didn't matter and Rigel swooped the whole floor like it was nothing.
The 5th floor was a nightmare for people who had a fear of bugs because the whole floor was filled with those things. Flying fire ants that could use fire magic, Earth beetles that could use earth magic, wasps that could use lightning magic, razor mantes that could use wind magic, and lastly fleas that could use water magic. Those bugs were bigger than Rigel's body and they moved fast as well.
Rigel got a few immature Cores that didn't give him the ability to use other elemental magic. He wished that he could use water, earth, and wind magic so he could create multi-element magic spells. He hoped that he could get them to the lower levels, so he went to the 6th floor.
On the 6th floor, it was no longer suggested for inexperienced Players and low-level Players. The 6th floor made the role switch where the monsters were the hunters and the Players were the prey. 10-legged spiders, needle tongue chameleons, and venomous snakes that had the ability to hide their presence.
Rigel could handle them because he had high perception and he found out that the basilisk eyes that he had made him able to detect those monsters. He didn't have to be wary of his surroundings and his reflexes were still faster than those monsters. There, he got a treasure which was a necklace, but weirdly enough, it didn't get absorbed like the gem on the earring that he found.
The 7th floor started to bring the enemies that Rigel fought back on Earth, the wyrm and basilisk. He felt the 6th floor was a bit more challenging than the 7th floor, but he didn't know if it was true or if it was because he was used to hunting wyrm and basilisk. He got another treasure, and it was a ring, but it didn't get absorbed as well.
Rigel went to the 8th floor, and then to the 9th floor until he walked down the stairs to the 10th floor. That was when the whole dungeon was pitch black with no light that showed the path. Not only was it a complete darkness, the oxygen became thin and it made Rigel a bit hard to breathe, but it didn't affect him at all.
The 5th floor was the average floor that Players could clear. The 7th floor was above average because nobody wanted to risk their lives in that place. The 10th floor was only a few percent of the Players that had reached the, and because of that, nobody dared to go there and put torches to light up the way.
Rigel lit his left hand and lit up the path, but it was complete silence. He then heard a woman scream in the distance, but it became silent again until the same woman's voice screamed. He knew at that moment those screams didn't come from a human's mouth, something was mimicking the scream to lure Players.
"Maybe I should try the spell here?" Rigel looked at his left hand and then the flame started to blaze and enraged.
Rigel fed the flame in his hand with Mana slowly and carefully, making the flame bigger in his hand. Although it became big, it became calmer because he fed the flame slowly to make the flame in a stable state. When the flame was already as big as an elephant, he gently pushed the flame away to the intersection in front of him.
"It's time for you to scream for real," Rigel snapped his finger and disturbed the state of the flame, making it unstable and it exploded, releasing a sea of flames. The flame moved so fast like a shockwave and it almost knocked Rigel down from the impact.
The fire was so hot that his armor started to bend and shrink when it got exposed to it. He had to create a fire barrier to prevent the flames from coming toward him. At the same time, he heard screeches and roars in the distance as the flame devoured everything.
Rigel explored the whole area and he saw dozens of monsters that had turned into crisp or shrunk that they were no longer recognizable. He got plenty of Cores, and yet none of them were mature, but he also got a few treasures.
After he collected all of the treasures and Cores, he decided to take a breather and eat his sandwich. He was resting next to the stairs to the 11th floor, and what awaited him down there was a Mini-Boss, that was what Players called it. The Mini-Boss monster was never the same, it changed to a different monster after it got killed, so Rigel didn't know what he was going to face down there.
"Let's go down there and check what kind of monster I'm going to deal with," Rigel unsheathed his sword as he walked down the stars.
Rigel stepped his foot on the 11th floor, and it was a big square area like an arena. He couldn't see anything and when he threw a fireball at the front, that was when he saw the Mini-Boss. A monster that looked like a greyhound dog as big as a bus, but it had wide bat wings and a scythe-like tail. Its glowing red eyes glared at him with two black horns and sharp teeth.
"Another flying one..." Rigel sighed as he readied his stance.
